Chapter 586: Legion Engagement (3)

~7 min read 1,253 words

86th Legion Zerg Hatchery.

The tentacles atop the head of a Dominator Bug were twitching incessantly; at this moment, it was completely bewildered by the strange behavior of this group of Humans.

No, wait, wasn't it the one on the offensive? Why did it feel as if it were the one on the defensive?

What exactly were these Humans playing at? It had just launched an attack, and before the battle had even officially begun, why were they charging out of their positions, looking like they were ready to fight to the death?

"What is the situation with the Humans at the very front? Their physiques have clearly exceeded the normal range for Humans. They are charging through, and no child can stop them! It seems I must deploy the first generation of Black-Winged Bugs."

The tentacles atop the Dominator Bug's head began to twitch rhythmically, issuing an attack order to the Black-Winged Bugs within more than twenty hatcheries.

After issuing the attack order, the Dominator Bug reported its situation to Yiweier.

"Mother, I believe the Humans here are very strange. They are actually attacking us without having gained any advantage, and even the Crystal Death Servants can only withstand the attacks of those tall Human warriors for a moment. I..."

Before the Dominator Bug could finish editing its message, it felt a powerful energy fluctuation coming from outside the hatchery, shaking the very hatchery it was in.

"What happened?"

The Dominator Bug felt a sudden sense of foreboding and could only send out the message it had not yet finished editing.

Just as the Dominator Bug sent the message, it felt a silver-white light appear within its hatchery, accompanied by a powerful energy fluctuation.

"This... this is..."

The Dominator Bug sensed that some uninvited guests seemed to have appeared inside the hatchery where it was located.

On the battlefield.

"That is... a Black-Winged Bug!"

Yingzhou narrowed his eyes slightly; upon seeing the black shadow clearly, he instantly recalled the scene when he had first encountered a Black-Winged Bug.

"Heh, it seems the Dominator Bug inside the hatchery is getting anxious."

As Yingzhou said this, he thrust his Spiritual Power Greatsword into the ground and began to consume Faith Value to enhance the combat power of the soldiers around him.

The golden Spiritual Power spread like ripples; wherever it passed, the soldiers' wounds began to heal, and their physical qualities were briefly enhanced.

"This is a Divine Miracle!"

"It is the Emperor!"

"For the Emperor!"

The war cry roared from tens of thousands of throats shattered the clouds, and the Human legion transformed into a golden torrent, beginning to submerge the ink-green tide of death.

Amidst the deafening war cries, more than twenty Black-Winged Bugs charged toward the Human troops, only to be blocked by War Dog Space Marines who were also radiating a golden light.

"Aliens! Die!"

Upon seeing the wisp of golden light radiating from his own body, Randall recalled the scene in the Extreme Cold Zone and felt his entire body filled with strength.

Subsequently, Randall locked onto a Black-Winged Bug that was rapidly flying toward the ground, exerted force with his legs, and launched himself into the air.

The Chainaxe in his hand slashed directly at the Black-Winged Bug; seeing that flash of golden light, the Black-Winged Bug rapidly changed its flight trajectory, narrowly dodging Randall's attack.

Seeing his attack miss, Randall felt a trace of mania rise within his emotions.

This damned Alien! The Emperor was watching, and his attack had actually! Actually been dodged!

After landing, Randall quickly pursued the Black-Winged Bug that had dodged his attack. After evading Randall, the Black-Winged Bug used a bone blade imbued with energy to pierce through a Chimera Armored Vehicle, and then stabbed a Cadian soldier with another blade.

But what the Black-Winged Bug did not expect was that this Cadian soldier, whose chest had been pierced, did not die as expected; he radiated a faint golden light, stared fixedly at the Black-Winged Bug with purple pupils, and used his still-functional right hand to search for his weapon.

A surge of purple energy poured into the Cadian soldier's body, instantly causing him to explode.

The blood was blocked by the Black-Winged Bug's energy barrier, but the next second, the Black-Winged Bug's biological instincts warned it to dodge.

Without the slightest hesitation, the Black-Winged Bug chose to follow its biological instincts and dodged rapidly.

The shriek of the Chainaxe tearing through the air slashed at the position where the Black-Winged Bug had just been; although it did not hit the opponent's head directly, it severed one of the wings the Black-Winged Bug had just spread.

Having lost a wing, the Black-Winged Bug could only face this tall Human radiating danger; most importantly, the faint flame on the tall Human's weapon, which looked as if it would extinguish at a single breath, was the source of its fear.

"Alien! Die!"

Seeing the Black-Winged Bug wing he had severed, Randall's lips curled up slightly beneath his helmet, and he raised his Chainaxe and charged at the Black-Winged Bug.

When the Black-Winged Bug dodged Randall's attack again, its broken wing membrane was still twitching, and where the ink-green blood dripped, corrosive acid mist rose, melting honeycomb-shaped holes into the armor wreckage.

Amidst the roar of the Chainaxe, Randall's helmet visor locked onto the Black-Winged Bug's figure; no matter how fast the opponent moved, his gaze never left the Black-Winged Bug's body.

Finally, seeing that it could not shake Randall off no matter what, the Black-Winged Bug backhanded a bone blade toward Randall.

Randall quickly dodged to the side, and the Chainaxe slashed toward the Black-Winged Bug's head again; the Black-Winged Bug's other bone blade collided with the Chainaxe, and a powerful energy fluctuation dispersed.

At this moment, War Dog Space Marines were dueling Black-Winged Bugs everywhere on the battlefield; mainly, these Black-Winged Bugs did not want to deal with these tall Humans, but they simply could not shake off these tall Humans clad in blue and white Armor.

Randall quickly bent his knees and leaned forward, the pressure relief valves of his Power Armor venting scorching steam, the ground instantly cracked into spiderweb-like patterns, and his speed increased once more as he slammed into the Black-Winged Bug.

"Cowardly mongrel!"

Randall spat out a mouthful of bloody saliva, his sonar system capturing the frantic beating of the three hearts within the Alien's chest.

The single-winged monster suddenly kicked off the ground with its reverse-jointed lower limbs, the tips of its bone blades erupting with blinding purple arcs of electricity, tearing distorted cracks into the air.

The hydraulic devices in his combat boots shrieked, and Randall advanced instead of retreating.

The flames on the blade of the Chainaxe collided with the arcs of electricity, creating a flare like a nuclear explosion.

The shockwave formed by the clash of the two energies blew away all soldiers within thirty meters, and the Chimera Armored Vehicle corroded by acid rolled like a toy, falling into the Insect Tide.

"Praise the Emperor!"

Randall roared in the communication channel, his Ceramite Shoulder Guard sparking with scorching red embers as he blocked.

The Black-Winged Bug's jointed limbs suddenly folded backwards in a bizarre fashion, and the bone blade bypassed the defensive arc of the Chainaxe, stabbing toward Randall's carotid artery like a viper.

At the critical moment, Randall twisted his waist and hips at an ergonomically impossible angle, letting the bone blade graze past the edge of his helmet.

"My turn, scum!"
