Chapter 664: The Collapse of the Zerg Overmind (1)

Inner City of the Third Defense Zone.

The MK2 Power Armor of the Salamanders Space Marines was covered in thick, green Zerg blood; more than half of the Salamanders Space Marines were continuously using Chainswords to hack and slash at the swarming Zerg.

In the building behind them were the survivors that this Salamander Squad had rescued from the Breeding Ground, and they were currently waiting for the arrival of a Transport Aircraft.

"Into the fires of battle, unto the anvil of war!"

A blood-stained Salamander Space Marine roared, using his Chainsword to cleave a lunging Scythe-bug in two, green plasma splattering all over him.

"Shantan! There are simply too many of these Aliens! Do you still have ammunition?"

Ignar punched a nearby Swift-bug until it exploded, then used his Chainsword to cleave a Scythe-bug that was sneaking up on his flank.

Just then, an intangible tremor originating from the depths of the soul violently swept across the entire battlefield!

"Hum..."

It was not a sound, but a shock on the level of perception.

The movements of all the Zerg that were frantically attacking instantly became incredibly stiff!

The fanatical red light in their compound eyes flickered wildly like a faulty light bulb, before rapidly dimming.

Replacing it was an unprecedented chaos, deeply rooted in biological instinct!

The charging Zerg swarm was like something that had been hit with a pause button, or as if they had collectively lost their backbone, the momentum of their charge coming to an abrupt halt.

The once uniform and fearless Insect Tide instantly turned into a chaotic, disorganized pot of boiling porridge!

In the distance, the main body of the Zerg Overmind, which had been pulsing with dark red light and emitting thick, ink-green fog, saw its light suddenly dim like a snuffed-out candle!

The massive flesh structure began to spasm and twitch violently and unnaturally! It was like the heart of a dying giant struggling in its final moments!

A visible disintegration spread from the Brood Mother Core area—the tough flesh tissue rapidly lost its luster, becoming gray and withered, peeling off and collapsing in large chunks!

The thick blood vessels and energy conduits connected to the Zerg Overmind burst one after another, spraying out thick, viscous liquid that was no longer active.

"Boom—"

A dull, thunderous sound like a mountain collapsing came from the direction of the Zerg Overmind; the Zerg Overmind, which had been soaring into the clouds, was collapsing, and the earth trembled in its wake.

Soldiers leaped out from behind cover and from the ruins, their Akatrun Laser Guns firing continuously.

"For the Emperor! Kill!"

"Crush them! Leave none alive!"

"For all those who sacrificed themselves!"

The roar of Chainswords, the thunder of Bolters, and the deafening war cries of the soldiers converged into an unstoppable torrent of Steel, slamming fiercely into the chaotic Zerg swarm!

At this moment, the Zerg had completely lost their unified will and command.

Some were still instinctively resisting, though their movements were stiff and sluggish; others were completely dominated by fear and began to turn and flee; most were in total chaos, being harvested by the charging Human soldiers like cutting melons and vegetables!

The Alicia Lieutenant brandished his Chainsword, easily cleaving the head of a bewildered Scythe-bug in two, green plasma splashing onto his laughing face.

"Do you see?! Aliens! Your doomsday has arrived!"

The heavy weapons team set up their Meltagun, and a scorching beam swept across, melting a group of Zerg attempting to regroup along with the ground beneath their feet into a boiling pit of glass!

"Fire! Fire! Blast them back to their hellish home!"

The gunner roared, and the Liujian shells exploded behind the fleeing Zerg swarm, kicking up a sky full of severed limbs!

Every step of the advance was accompanied by the wails of the Zerg and the roars of Human victory.

In the distance, the Zerg Overmind accelerated its disintegration amidst the continuous, thunderous roar of its collapse, crumbling completely.
