Chapter 742: Communication Message
Very quickly, the Imperial Fists Legion and the Skitarii captured a Cyberk Fortress.
Dorn and Ferrus entered the core area of the Cyberk Fortress.
The Tech-Priests inserted their mechanical tentacles into the remaining data interfaces, and the indicator lights on the Data Pad began to flash.
Suddenly, a Tech-Priest's Data Pad emitted a notification sound.
"Abnormal data stream detected! Format... non-standard protocol! Matching... Communication Device message!"
"Communication Device message?"
Ferrus turned around immediately and spoke.
"Analyze the content. Highest priority."
"Attempting to decrypt... decoding..."
A line of intermittent text appeared on the Tech-Priest's Data Pad.
Dorn also strode over, his gaze sweeping across the screen.
... Emergency... First Defense Zone... request... support... or... intelligence sharing... any...
"First Defense Zone..." Dorn frowned slightly and mused.
"Isn't this area the lair of the Cyberk Aliens? How could there be a communication signal there?"
"Hmm,"
Ferrus nodded, echoing the sentiment.
"The communication message must have been sent by Humans in the First Defense Zone, but I didn't expect them to be able to bypass the communication defense network established by those Cyberk Aliens and transmit the information to us."
As he spoke, Ferrus looked at Dorn, "And, they mentioned intelligence; is it about the Cyberk Aliens?"
Dorn's brows were tightly locked as he stared at the fragmented message.
"Brother, is there a way to make contact with this communication message?"
Ferrus nodded slightly and spoke.
"The value of the information fragment has been confirmed. It should be manageable."
Under the operation of Ferrus and the Tech-Priests, a message was quickly sent to that communication signal.
After about two minutes, a communication request was sent over.
"Which defense zone are you Humans from? We are survivors from the First Defense Zone, my name is Sherlock."
Hearing the urgent tone of the other party, Ferrus spoke in a serious tone.
"We are Humans from the Ninth Defense Zone, currently at war with the Cyberk Aliens. After capturing a Cyberk Alien Fortress, we discovered your communication message."
Sherlock on the other end of the communication was clearly surprised, his tone hesitating for a few seconds, but it quickly shifted to a tone of pleasant surprise.
"You can defeat those Cyberks?... That is truly great. You must also know about the giant weapon the Cyberks are researching, right? During our escape, we discovered the factory area where they manufacture the giant weapons. If you could send a few elite squads, perhaps you could destroy the factory where the Cyberks produce the giant weapons!"
Upon hearing this news, Ferrus briefly locked eyes with Dorn; both of them had a rough description in their minds of the giant weapon Sherlock spoke of—that kind of thing similar to a Titan Weapon, which, while its defensive capabilities might be mediocre, was indeed very strong in terms of offense.
"Giant Weapon Factory..."
Ferrus's low voice sounded, and he quickly exchanged a glance with Dorn beside him, both seeing the gravity in each other's eyes.
Giant weapons, those mobile fortresses with terrifying firepower, were indeed thorny threats on the battlefield.
Destroying their source was of immense value.
Ferrus's voice became even colder and harder.
"How are we to trust you, Sherlock? Trust that you are not a lure set by the Cyberk Aliens, a carefully woven trap? You are in the core of the Cyberk lair, yet you can send a signal from their fortress, and you 'just happen' to discover their Giant Weapon Factory? Too many coincidences."
The other end of the communication fell into a few seconds of Silence, with only the buzzing sound of electricity.
When Sherlock's voice sounded again, it carried a bitterness of being questioned.
"I understand your suspicion, my lord. If it were me, I would suspect it too.
We... we paid a heavy price to obtain this information; the entire survivor team... only I and a few other brothers remain.
The signal could be sent because someone among us used a Communication Device made from trash discarded by the Cyberks.
As for the factory location..."
He took a deep breath, his speaking speed increasing.
"I can immediately transmit the factory coordinate fragments we recorded, peripheral defense scan data, and... and the blurry footage our sacrificed team members captured last!
That thing is right by the First Defense Zone Inner City, and the scale is massive!
Your technicians will definitely be able to distinguish the truth!
We don't need you to believe us immediately, we just need you to... give us a chance to prove it! I beg you! Destroying that factory could save countless people! Isn't that worth a cautious attempt? I stake my life and the souls of all my sacrificed comrades on it!"
Ferrus remained in Silence.
The Tech-Priest's mechanical tentacles danced silently, receiving the data packet sent by Sherlock.
On the screen, coordinate fragments, energy reading charts, and an extremely blurry, violently shaking image scrolled rapidly: in the darkness, the outline of a huge metal skeleton was vaguely visible, welding sparks flashed on the assembly line, and several giant weapons over a hundred meters tall were being maintained.
"Data preliminary analysis... high probability of not being a forgery. Characteristics... match known giant weapon construction logic."
Hearing the Tech-Priest's report, Ferrus moved his gaze from the screen and looked at Dorn again.
Dorn's brows were tightly locked, he nodded slowly, and said in a low voice.
"The risk is huge... but the potential gain... is immeasurable. Requires highest authorization."
Ferrus understood his brother's meaning.
"Sherlock, we have received and preliminarily verified your information and determination. The strategic value of destroying the Giant Weapon Factory is beyond doubt."
Ferrus changed the subject and continued.
"But mobilizing elite troops to penetrate deep into the core area of the First Defense Zone is a strategic decision at the highest level."
Sherlock's voice said with a stutter.
"Then... then what do you mean...?"
"I will immediately report your intelligence, the data provided, and our findings directly to our Father."
"He will evaluate the risks and rewards and make the final decision. This is the only path."
There was a longer Silence on the other end of the communication, and Sherlock's heavy breathing could be heard.
In the end, he spoke with his last shred of hope.
"I... I understand. Thank you for being willing to report this. We will... do everything in our power to survive."
"Sherlock, I hope you can hold on until our reinforcements arrive."
Ferrus urged him one last time.
"For the Human."
"For the Human..."
Sherlock's voice cut off abruptly, and the communication was immediately interrupted.
Ferrus turned to the Tech-Priest immediately, his tone resolute.
"Send all information—including the communication recording, the data packet transmitted by Sherlock, the original distress signal discovered within the Fortress, and our preliminary analysis report—to Father."
"Command confirmed. Encryption protocol initiated... link established... data transmitting..."
Dorn looked at Ferrus and said in a deep voice, "Father will make the correct judgment."
"Yes. Regardless of whether Father's decision is to advance or retreat, we will execute it. But this intelligence... is worth Father knowing. The Human needs unity, and also needs... hope."
