Chapter 77: Clearing Internal Hidden Dangers
A map appeared on the screen in the center of the Meeting Room, including the Inner City and the Outer City.
This map displayed a massive city layout. The Inner City was located at the center, occupying a relatively small area, yet it held an important status. It only occupied twenty percent of the land in the Fourth Defense Zone, yet this area was the core of the entire city.
The Outer City, however, occupied the majority of the land, its scope vast. Beyond the Outer City were the various defensive lines established by the Military District; these lines formed the city's defense system, protecting the city from external threats.
In the Outer City, over half of the area was designated as the Production Zone. This area was filled with various factories used to produce daily necessities such as food, Steel, and weapon parts.
The production of these resources was used to maintain the operation of the Fourth Defense Zone.
Besides the Production Zone, another part of the Outer City was where civilians lived. These civilians lived here, working to maintain their livelihoods.
By comparison, the living environment of the Inner City was more superior. There were no so-called Production Zones here, and people's lives were closer to the state that normal Humans should have.
In the Inner City, a small portion of the residents were officials and their families who held a certain status in the Human Alliance Fourth Defense Zone. They enjoyed special treatment and had better living conditions.
The other larger portion of residents were civilians of the Inner City. Although they also belonged to the civilian class, compared to the civilians of the Outer City, their quality of life was much higher. They were able to enjoy better infrastructure, educational resources, and medical security.
Yingzhou looked at the map of the Fourth Defense Zone, clearly deep in thought; currently, the number of Orc troops far exceeded that of the Human Alliance side, and wanting to drive these Alien Races out all at once was impossible.
"Let's start clearing out the Beast Race that have infiltrated; time waits for no one. Only by clearing out these Alien Races as quickly as possible can we fully prepare to deal with the Beast Race in the Outer City," Yingzhou stood up from the conference table and said to Xindi and the others.
"Mm, I'll act with you. That way, it can also save quite a bit of trouble," Kelin spoke up at this moment.
"I'll go arrange the soldiers in the city and increase the defenses on the Giant Wall to prevent the Orcs from starting an attack," Xindi also spoke up.
"Then I'll be responsible for calming the emotions of the people in the Inner City to prevent the Beast Race from causing a Disturbance," Kaxi composed herself and spoke up.
"Captain Ying, finding those Orcs that have infiltrated the Inner City depends on you. Only when the situation in the Inner City is stabilized can we resist the Orcs' attack," Kelin said to Yingzhou.
"Mm, let's set off," Yingzhou nodded and left the high-level Meeting Room under Kelin's lead.
Only then did Kaxi let out a heavy breath, her expression somewhat solemn as she said, "This Yingzhou gives off such a strong sense of oppression; it feels like killing Alien Races is the same as drinking water to him, a trivial matter."
"Not sure, the Ninth Defense Zone told us that this combat squad is professional at dealing with Orcs. I originally thought they only sent a combat squad to just go through the motions, but now it seems this Yingzhou really has some methods for dealing with Orcs. Just now, he even summoned 30 soldiers to head to the Outer City; his Back Spirit is a random summoning type, but I just don't know why his physical fitness is so strong," Xindi also said with some lingering fear.
"However, at least our Inner City can be safer now, after these infiltrated Beast Race are cleared out," Kaxi composed herself, stood up, and left the Meeting Room.
With Kelin's help, the progress of finding the Orcs infiltrated into important posts in the Inner City was fast, but this also attracted the attention of those Orcs who had not yet been discovered.
"The Human Alliance inside seems to have found a way to crack the Priest's Disguise Technique. If we don't do something now, it's only a matter of time before we are discovered," a soldier wearing a military uniform said at a street corner.
"I heard that it seems a batch of reinforcements came from the Ninth Defense Zone, and there is someone in there who can see through the Priest's Disguise Technique," on the other side of the street corner, a man wearing a suit leaned against a wall and said in a low voice.
"Then we must find an opportunity to kill all those support personnel from the Ninth Defense Zone, so that our companions who have infiltrated the Fourth Defense Zone won't be found out," the soldier in the military uniform said.
"Mm, leave this to me. I'll find some companions to assassinate those Humans from the Ninth Defense Zone," the man in the suit spoke up.
"Then I'll arrange for a few people to create some Disturbance in the Inner City to give these Human Alliance high-ups a headache, and while I'm at it, find an opportunity to approach the city defense team of the Giant Wall."
After confirming their targets, the two left the street corner and began to arrange manpower to carry out the plan targeting Yingzhou's squad.
Ever since joining Yingzhou's combat squad, Zhao Jian felt that the role of himself and the others was almost negligible; it seemed they were only gathered to meet the minimum personnel limit for the squad members.
"Zhao Jian, why do you think the Captain hasn't returned yet?" a brown-haired youth said to Zhao Jian, holding a map in his hand out of boredom.
"Don't know. As soon as the Captain got off the plane, he had us follow the personnel arranging our accommodation to come here, and after that, he never contacted us again. Ning Shen, are you looking at the map of the Inner City?" Zhao Jian finished Gathering Spiritual Power, got off the bed, and said to Ning Shen.
"Mm, I'm memorizing the appearance of the Inner City first. If the Captain assigns us a Task, we can also quickly adapt to the environment of the Inner City," Ning Shen shook the map in his hand and said to Zhao Jian.
"Where did Zhu Chengnu and the other two go? They just went out and haven't returned?" seeing that of the original five-person squad, only two were in the room now, Zhao Jian asked.
"The three of them went out to eat. I saw you were still Gathering Spiritual Power just now, so I didn't disturb you."
"Knock, knock, knock..."
At this moment, a knock on the door interrupted their conversation.
Zhao Jian stood up, walked to the door, and opened it.
He saw a soldier wearing a military uniform saying urgently, "You are the comrades who came to support us from the Ninth Defense Zone, right? We just discovered traces of Orcs not far away. We need manpower now; can you come and help?"
"Orcs?" Ning Shen stood up from his chair, walked to the door, and said to the soldier, "Let's go, it just so happens we have nothing to do."
Zhao Jian had no objections either. The two walked out of the room, and the soldier asked, "Are there only two of you?"
"Mm, what's wrong?" Zhao Jian looked at the soldier in front of him with suspicion.
"No... nothing, let's go quickly, my teammates are tracking the traces of that Orc," the soldier walked quickly in front, leading the way for the two.
After walking out of the guesthouse, the soldier led the two into a small alley. After turning left and right in the alley, very quickly, Zhao Jian felt that he had already become somewhat disoriented.
At the same time, he also felt that the soldier in front of him was somewhat strange; he didn't look anxious at all to find his teammates, but instead was still paying attention to whether he and Ning Shen were keeping up with his pace.
"Aren't you very concerned about the safety of your teammates? Why are you always focusing your attention on us?" Zhao Jian asked directly.
