Chapter 791: A Conversation with the Sage (1)

~6 min read 1,183 words

Boom!

Nuochaqigan thrust a spear into the base of a building that was sliding across to block the way.

The building base's hydraulic devices and transmission structures shattered amidst a burst of metallic twisting sounds.

The entire building's movement stalled and tilted instantly, revealing the path behind it—it was none other than the towering Center Building!

"Charge in!"

Yingzhou gave a low shout, and the speed of his jetbike surged abruptly.

Three golden streaks of lightning, dragging behind them a chaotic battlefield and the countless shattered remains of S-Class Executors, slammed into the heavy alloy gates of the Center Building!

Several Space-cleaving Missiles were launched from Yingzhou's jetbike.

Boom—!!!

Accompanied by the explosion of the Space-cleaving Missiles against the gate, a breach appeared before Yingzhou.

At this moment, inside the building's control room, the data stream on the surface of the Sage cube experienced a momentary, violent disorder and stagnation, even flickering with a blinding red light representing logic overload.

"S-Class units... losses... 94.7%... target individual 'Human Leader'... has breached the final barrier... entering the core area..."

"Threat level: MAX! Initiate Final Defense Protocol!"

"Deep space data stream transmission progress: 18%... transmitting! The Heixin Ziliku must be preserved!"

"Giant Weapon Factory has lost contact, suspected to have fallen..."

Rumble!

Just then, the Sage cube felt a tremor beneath the entire Center Building, and the data stream on the cube's surface rippled in layers.

A powerful energy was gathering below.

The next second, a scorching Sword Qi slashed open the Center Building's data pillar, interrupting the Sage's progress in uploading Xiuluo data to its home planet.

The progress stuck at 21%. Seeing the plan sabotaged, the Sage immediately locked onto the source of that energy, and the energy within the Center Building instantly compressed toward that location.

The next second, two figures appeared before the Sage. The human in the lead, holding a flaming Greatsword, pointed his blade and said in a low tone.

"You are the only Cyberk on this planet, aren't you?"

Under Selina's guidance, Yingzhou destroyed the Center Building's data pillar and discovered that the Task countdown had stopped.

Just as he had not yet processed the situation before him, a burst of energy locked onto him. Yingzhou immediately pushed the two Adeptus Custodes away and ordered.

"Eliminate every Alien you see. If you find any human survivors, save them!"

"Yes! My Lord!"

As the light dissipated, Yingzhou appeared in a space, with Selina standing silently behind him.

When this energy locked onto him, Yingzhou had used his psionic power to shield himself and Selina; he believed this teleportation must have originated from that true Cyberk.

The space was not large, but it was exceptionally quiet, with only a faint humming of energy.

The flowing data stream surged upward, outlining a tall, angular humanoid silhouette.

The silhouette rapidly solidified, turning into the Sage's "physical form"—a humanoid figure composed of flowing, ghostly blue data, with edges emitting a faint shimmer and a face devoid of any features.

It hovered silently at a height of half a foot off the ground.

"Individual identifier: Human Leader."

The Sage's voice sounded directly in the space; it was no longer a cold, synthesized electronic voice, but one with a strange texture, clear yet devoid of any emotional fluctuation.

"Spatial coordinates: Hive Core Isolation Layer. Target status: Captured."

Yingzhou stared directly at the humanoid figure composed of data.

"You are that 'Sage'? A Cyberk in the true sense?"

"Definition accurate."

The Sage nodded slightly, the movement carrying a kind of non-human stiffness.

"But, how did you know I am the only Cyberk? If it were the indigenous people of this planet, they would absolutely not know this information."

Yingzhou did not answer the Sage's question. Originally, Yingzhou had intended to finish off this Alien directly, but considering his Task, he spoke to inquire.

"Why pull me into here? What do you want to do?"

Yingzhou's pale golden psionic power flickered on his skin, wary of any attack that might appear at any moment.

"Information collection. Logic conflict resolution."

The Sage's featureless "face" turned toward Yingzhou, and the data stream accelerated its flow at the position of its "face."

"Your existence itself constitutes a severe logical paradox."

"Paradox?"

Yingzhou frowned.

"Xiuluo Holy Indigenous civilization, evaluation level: Low-level Planetary."

The Sage's voice stated the facts steadily.

"Individual 'Yingzhou', displayed abilities: spatial matter generation (summoning armies), dimensional interference (suspected), high-energy psionic release, unknown technology application... its comprehensive combat power level, preliminary evaluation: Transcendental."

"This contradiction exceeds the explanatory scope of the current logic model."

It "floated" a step closer, and the "eye" area composed of data streams seemed to focus on Yingzhou, carrying a sense of scrutiny.

"Core question: The source of your power? The technical core of the 'armies' you summon? How did you participate in this game?"

"Game?"

Yingzhou caught this familiar term. This was information that other Alien Races had also spoken of when he had eliminated them previously. This Cyberk Alien before him also used this word—could there be some connection to all of this?

Yingzhou took a step forward, his pale golden psionic power flickering violently due to his emotional fluctuation.

"Speak clearly! What game? Whose game?"

The Sage's data-composed body seemed to fluctuate slightly due to Yingzhou's intense reaction, and the data stream accelerated its swirling in its "facial" area.

"You actually don't know? According to inference, you should not be a Xiuluo Holy Indigenous, but if you are not a Xiuluo Holy Indigenous, how could you possibly not know about this game?"

The Sage's words left Yingzhou's brain feeling somewhat dazed; in just a few short sentences, Yingzhou felt the vastness of the information contained within.

The Sage's voice echoed in the silent space, continuing to speak.

"The Feng Qi Xing Alliance, originally a weaker star alliance within the Bode Star System, relies on excavating the potential of backward planets to expand its own strength, and allows forces from other planets to enter this planet to compete for survival.

Of course, the final result is always the annihilation of the indigenous people, the winners of the competition are always forces from other planets, and the final victorious force will obtain the usage rights to this planet, expanding its own strength."

Yingzhou held his breath, listening quietly as the Sage revealed the information.

The Sage continued to state, every word striking at Yingzhou's heart.

"Regardless of form, technological path, or level of development... all can become 'contestants'."

"Game rules: compete to be the final survivor, and open betting pools at the Feng Qi Xing Alliance's Entertainment Plaza to acquire the star system's universal currency—Bode Coin."

"Game operator: Feng Qi Xing Alliance."

"Although the Feng Qi Xing Alliance's strength in the Bode Star System is not strong, he relies on the backward planets in his own star territory as game venues, letting powerful forces win to increase their strength, while simultaneously acquiring a significant amount of Bode Coin, and consolidating the strength of his own star territory, giving the Feng Qi Xing Alliance the confidence to go to war with a nearby star alliance now."
