Chapter 801: The End of the Asura Holy War (1)

~7 min read 1,337 words

First Defense Zone Inner City.

Yingzhou's figure appeared at the exit of the Center Building, which was covered in cracks and charred bullet marks.

"My Lord!"

Two deep voices rang out almost simultaneously.

Not far from the building entrance, two Adeptus Custodes clad in Golden Power Armor were hurrying toward this side.

In front of them gathered a small group of ragged, haggard, and numb-looking Human survivors.

One of the Adeptus Custodes nodded slightly and pointed at the survivors; his voice came through his helmet, carrying a metallic texture.

"My Lord, we discovered them while clearing out an Alien building."

These survivors looked toward Yingzhou; there was no joy of survival in their eyes, only endless numbness.

Yingzhou's gaze swept over these numb faces, feeling somewhat strange.

"Selina, what is their situation?"

Yingzhou remembered that after Selina devoured the Sage's data, she should know something, so he asked.

"They are Biological Processors kept in captivity by the Cyberks, using a certain forced-growth technology to make them mature rapidly.

They do not possess the concepts that normal Humans have."

Hearing Selina's answer, Yingzhou had a moment of realization; no wonder these people gave him such a strange feeling.

He walked in front of the survivors, restrained the psychic pressure around his body, and his voice clearly entered everyone's ears.

"You have suffered, my fellow countrymen. The war is about to end."

The simple declaration made the eyes of these survivors turn toward Yingzhou.

Yingzhou did not expect them to recover to normal instantly; time would heal most of the wounds.

"Nuochaqigan, Gewanuosai,"

Yingzhou looked at the two Adeptus Custodes.

"Gather them together; there must be many more survivors like this.

Their origins are unfortunate, but fortunately, they have gained a new life. I will assign some troops to search for similar survivors; I leave it to you."

"As you command, my Lord!"

The two Adeptus Custodes saluted, their movements uniform.

Just then, Selina's figure appeared silently at Yingzhou's side.

Her pale green pupils swept over the surrounding broken battlefield and finally landed on the area in the distance where sporadic explosions and Energy Gun sounds were still coming from.

Those were Cyberk soldiers driven by the Sage's will, still mechanically executing their final clearance orders.

"Yingzhou,"

Selina's voice remained calm.

"The Sage's core logic has been parsed and contained by me. I... can attempt to send an override command directly to all remaining Cyberk combat units to forcibly terminate their hostile actions."

Hearing this, Yingzhou turned his head to look at Selina.

"You can do it? Override their underlying protocols?"

"Yes."

Selina answered affirmatively, and a pale green light flickered slightly in her pupils.

"The Sage's core permission is with me.

As long as they are still online or can be covered by my wide-area command, I can issue the highest-level 'Sleep/Standby' command to override their current combat protocols."

Yingzhou did not hesitate at all.

Every second the war continued, there could be needless sacrifices.

"Execute! Immediately terminate all hostile actions of the Cyberk soldiers!"

"Yes!"

Selina responded.

The Cyberk soldiers who were exchanging fire with the last resisting Human soldiers instantly stiffened.

The arms raising their weapons slowly lowered, and the energy light at the muzzles extinguished.

The roar of engines came to an abrupt halt, and their mechanical feet stopped in place.

The red light in their eyes flickered a few times and quickly turned into the dim blue that represented standby status.

All aggressive actions were forcibly terminated the moment the command was issued.

The Cyberk front line, which had been filled with the clashing of Steel and the hissing of energy, fell into an eerie silence within just over ten seconds.

Only the subtle hydraulic sounds occasionally emitted by mechanical joints proved they were not completely dead.

Outside the Giant Weapon Factory, Sanguinius and Corax noticed the anomaly almost simultaneously.

Sanguinius spread his white wings and looked suspiciously at the Steel enemies that had suddenly gone still.

Corax, meanwhile, vigilantly observed the motionless Cyberk soldiers below.

"What is going on?"

Corax's deep voice sounded over the comms.

"Is it Father... and Selina?"

Sanguinius keenly sensed the subtle yet region-wide command fluctuation and cast his gaze toward the direction of the Center Building.

Outside the Center Building, Yingzhou noticed the now "harmless" Cyberk front line, and a hint of satisfaction flashed in his eyes.

Selina opened her eyes and reported calmly.

"Command transmission complete, coverage rate 98.7%. The remaining unresponsive units are mostly severely damaged or in deep signal-shielded zones; they no longer pose a threat."

"Very good."

Yingzhou nodded; this greatly accelerated the process of ending the war.

He took a deep breath of the air that still carried the scent of gunpowder, feeling the surging power within his body and the excitement in his heart.

"The war is over."

Yingzhou's voice was not loud, yet it echoed clearly over the ruined First Defense Zone.

"Now, clear the battlefield and rescue the survivors!"

First Defense Zone Outer City.

Behind a pile of trash, Kailuosi Jin watched as the Cyberk soldiers in the distance, who had been firing toward his side, suddenly stopped their attack.

Although he felt a bit puzzled, the Guardian Spear in his hand pointed directly ahead, and he fired rapidly.

Taking advantage of the opening exposed by these Cyberk soldiers, he wiped them out in one fell swoop.

A Cadian Squad following Kailuosi Jin also reacted quickly and began to destroy these Cyberk Alien.

Not until Yingzhou's voice came from the Inner City did Kailuosi Jin understand what had happened.

This was all the merit of the Emperor!

Behind them, strictly protected, were thousands of survivors that this squad led by Kailuosi Jin had searched out from the depths of the trash piles.

They huddled in relatively safe corners, ragged and gaunt, many bearing old or new scars on their bodies, and quite a few had crude mechanical prosthetics installed.

Upon hearing the voice coming from afar, the surrounding atmosphere instantly became quiet.

Dead silence!

An absolute dead silence enveloped this trash dump!

The movements of all the Cadian soldiers froze.

Fingers on triggers stopped, and gazes solidified.

The heavy breathing under their helmets was exceptionally clear in the dead silence, carrying a tremor.

Huo Ke also heard the proclamation echoing through the ruins.

He subconsciously looked at Kailuosi Jin on top of the cover, then at those soldiers who had suddenly stopped moving.

Immediately following—

"Long live the Emperor! Long live the Human Lord!"

A roar, suppressed to the extreme, erupted from under the helmet of a Cadian soldier.

"It's over! We won!!"

More soldiers joined the roar, pounding their chest plates hard and clashing their helmets together, creating a chaotic yet incredibly exhilarating sound of metal colliding!

Huo Ke stared blankly at the scene before him.

"It... it's over?"

Huo Ke's voice was dry and hoarse, trembling with disbelief.

He stumbled forward two steps, his murky eyes fixed on the golden giant still standing silently atop the cover, seeking final confirmation.

Kailuosi Jin slowly lowered his head, his eyepiece locking onto Huo Ke.

Then, this taciturn Adeptus Custodes, facing the survivor representative below, facing all the Cadian soldiers looking over with excitement.

Facing those compatriots huddled in the corners, in whose eyes a faint light finally ignited, he slowly and extremely solemnly nodded his head covered in golden armor.

This one action was worth more than a thousand words!

"Ah——!!!"

All the fear, despair, pain, and longing for life that had accumulated in Huo Ke's chest erupted at this moment!

He let out a heart-wrenching roar, mixed with ecstasy and extreme grief.

His knees could no longer support the weight of his body, and with a "thud," he knelt heavily onto the cold, filthy metal trash pile!

"It's over! It's really over!"

He clawed fiercely at the trash debris beneath him, not even noticing his fingernails breaking, as tears washed away the grime and bloodstains on his face, carving two clear tracks through the dust.

"We survived! We survived—!!"
