Chapter 866: The Occupation of Kamirate (2)
Kamirate, Third Mining Zone, Temporary Command Center.
In the former command center of the Third Mining Zone of the Feng Qi Xing Alliance, the Fengqi geometric emblem on the wall had been scraped off, replaced by a golden double-headed eagle symbol temporarily painted on with a spray gun.
Inside the hall, Space Marines of the White Scars stood guard at various positions; their power armor was stained with blood and dust, and their red lenses scanned every corner.
The accompanying Tech-priest was busy connecting to the damaged control system to restore some basic functions.
Outside the door, the sounds of Tallarn soldiers maintaining order and distributing supplies could be faintly heard.
Jaghatai stood before a metal table where a sector map was spread out.
His helmet was placed to the side, revealing his sharp-featured face.
Although he had just experienced an orbital drop and a ground clearing battle, his breathing was steady, without the slightest fatigue.
A White Scars communications soldier walked over quickly, knelt on one knee, and presented a data pad with both hands.
"Khan, an encrypted communication from Company Commander Bahan from the orbital 'Fengchi'. The outpost cluster has been basically cleared, the die-hard resisters have been eliminated, and the prisoners and spoils of war are being tallied."
Jaghatai took the data pad, his gaze quickly scanning the text and tactical symbols on it.
He nodded slightly, not at all surprised by Bahan's operational efficiency and results.
The Sharp Blade of the White Scars never disappoints.
"Tell Bahan, well done. Have him secure orbital control and be vigilant for any possible jump signals. Concentrate all prisoners under guard, prioritizing the interrogation of high-value targets. Register the spoils of war, especially any data regarding the military deployments and logistics nodes of the Feng Qi Xing Alliance; it must be decrypted and uploaded immediately."
"Understood, Khan!"
Jaghatai's gaze shifted from the data pad and turned toward the window of the hall.
Through the reinforced glass, one could see what was happening in the plaza.
Tallarn soldiers were organizing the gaunt miners, whose eyes were no longer purely numb, to line up and receive synthetic nutrient paste and purified water seized from the garrison warehouse.
White Scars Space Marines were escorting squads of dejected Fengqi prisoners toward a temporarily established collection point; further away, small transport craft were constantly taking off and landing, ferrying more supplies and personnel down from orbit.
The occupation was initially completed.
But Jaghatai knew deep down that this was only the beginning. The White Scars are the sharpest spear of the Imperium, the lightning that tears through defensive lines, and the hurricane that pursues the desperate enemy.
For governing a planet that has just experienced the ravages of war, is scarred, and whose people are in a state of panic, there are candidates more suitable than him.
Consolidating the fruits of victory, establishing effective governance, pacifying the populace, and restoring production... these require different professional forces.
He needed to relay the results and needs here back to the rear as soon as possible.
"Communications Officer."
Jaghatai's voice sounded again.
A White Scars warrior carrying a communication device stepped forward immediately; his equipment had clearly been lightened and reinforced to adapt to ground combat.
"Present, Khan!"
"Immediately prepare a Highest Priority encrypted communication in my name, sent directly to the headquarters of the Xiuluo Holy Star Alliance, addressed to brothers Luojia and Angron. Activate the large ground array to ensure the signal penetrates the atmosphere and orbital interference, connecting directly to the fleet relay."
"Yes!"
The Communications Officer immediately began operating the equipment beside him, and the energy conduits hummed.
Jaghatai pondered for a moment and began to dictate; his voice was converted into an encrypted data stream through the Communications Officer's equipment.
"To brothers Luojia and Angron:"
"Kamirate has been initially pacified. The orbital outpost cluster and the main ground resistance forces have been eliminated, and initial order has been established."
He paused for a moment, his gaze sweeping over the miners lining up for food outside the window, and continued.
"However, this place has been abused for too long; the people's livelihood is in distress, and order awaits reconstruction. Administrative, State Church, and engineering forces are needed to consolidate the victory, spread the Holy Radiance, and bring this star into the orderly rule of the Star Alliance."
"Therefore, please dispatch a takeover fleet composed of administrators, State Church missionaries, and engineering troops to Kamirate with all speed. A large quantity of medical supplies, food, purified water, and basic reconstruction materials must be brought."
"Additionally, this star is located at a frontier outpost, adjacent to enemy territory, and fears a counterattack."
The takeover fleet needs to be assigned a powerful fleet or a portion of its main force to serve as escort and initial garrison until the local defense system is perfected."
"The White Scars will continue to execute the Emperor's will, clearing the surrounding areas and expanding the fruits of victory. The aftermath of this star is entrusted to you two brothers. May the Light of Humanity descend upon this suffering world soon."
"—Jaghatai, on the surface of Kamirate."
The Communications Officer's fingers danced rapidly across the control panel, accurately recording and encrypting every word of the Primarch.
"The message has been encoded, Khan! It is being sent through the ground array to the orbital relay, to be forwarded by the 'Fengchi' to the communication array. Signal strength is good, and it is expected to arrive at headquarters in three standard hours."
"Very good."
Jaghatai nodded.
Once this message arrived, Luojia's efficient administrative and faith-spreading machine would head toward Kamirate at the fastest possible speed.
