Chapter 884: Arrival at Longyou Shuangzixing (2)

~8 min read 1,437 words

Longyou Shuangzixing, Kafu-Long Planet, outskirts of Diqishisihao Kuangqu.

The smoke of suppression had not yet fully dissipated.

Buen dragged an injured leg, and together with Laoka, Axing, and several dozen other survivors, they crouched in the mine pit while Grey Dog soldiers pointed guns at them.

When Aier led them through the abandoned mine tunnels in search of other squads, they ran into a Grey Dog unit, and the group was marched to the outskirts of the mining area; as the first team to initiate a riot, they were to be used as an example for execution.

"Damn it... is this how it ends..."

Buen gritted his teeth and said, unwilling to accept it.

Laoka scolded him weakly.

"Shut up, Buen... living a little longer... is still living..."

Just at this moment

Rumble, rumble, rumble!!!

A deafening roar came from overhead.

"What is that sound?!"

"Is it thunder?"

"Doesn't sound like it! It's coming from above!"

All the soldiers and miners could not help but look up.

They saw streaks of blazing fireballs piercing through the thick clouds of dust, crashing down all over the mining area!

A Lieutenant of the Fengqi Zhengqujun saw the "meteors" clearly, his face changed drastically, and he exclaimed.

"Airstrike?! No! It's drop pods! Orbital drop! Where did the fleet come from?!"

"Everyone! Find cover! Where is the anti-aircraft fire?! Notify headquarters quickly!"

The Fengqi soldiers abandoned the miners who were no longer a threat and quickly sought cover, aiming their guns at the sky.

The miners were also left at a loss by this sudden turn of events.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The drop pods slammed into the ground of the mining area, kicking up clouds of dust and gravel.

Some smashed directly through the top-level structures and fell deep into the mine pits.

One of the drop pods landed on an abandoned pile of ore not far from Axing and the others; the pod body was scorching red and hissing with white steam, and the Blood Angels emblem of a winged blood drop on the hatch was visible through the dust.

Crack!

Bang!

The hatch opened! A burst of white smoke surged out.

Amidst the swirling dust and white mist, a massive crimson figure stepped out.

It was a giant nearly 2.4 meters tall!

Wearing Power Armor painted red.

The winged blood drop emblem on the shoulder armor was dazzling.

A voice amplified by a speaker came from beneath the helmet.

"The Emperor's judgment has arrived! Oppressors! Prepare to face judgment!"

Similar red drop pods landed all over the mining area, and red giants stepped out one by one, forming combat formations.

"Fire! Fire! Kill them!"

Seeing this unit of unknown origin, the Fengqi Lieutenant ordered them to fire.

The Fengqi Zhengqujun soldiers fired first.

Dense energy beams shot toward the Blood Angels Space Marines who had just landed!

Ding, ding, dang, dang!

Pfft, pfft!

Most of the energy beams struck the Power Armor of the Blood Angels Space Marines, merely splashing sparks.

A Blood Angels Space Marine who had charged too far forward was hit in the chest plate by a missile; although the chest plate was not penetrated, the impact made him stagger.

Another warrior's shoulder armor was hit by a high-speed Armor-Piercing Shell; the Ceramite cracked, and blood seeped out from the Rift.

"For the Emperor! Worthy of the blood of Sanguinius!"

The injured Blood Angels Space Marine let out an even more fanatical battle cry and returned fire with single shots from his Bolter!

Bang! Bang! Bang!

A Fengqi soldier was hit directly by a bolt, his upper body exploding into a mist of blood.

A Fengqi soldier hiding behind cover was blown to pieces by a burst of bolts.

The Blood Angels Space Marines moved very quickly, their tactical movements simple and efficient, with tacit coordination.

Often, several warriors would fire to suppress the enemy while another warrior had already flanked at a speed inconsistent with his massive frame, using a Chainsword to finish off the enemy.

Many Grey Dog soldiers watched those red giants, watching them flatten the Fengqi garrison they usually stood in awe of, and their inner shock and fear were beyond measure.

"What... what kind of monsters are those?!"

"Our guns... can't hurt them!"

"Run... let's run!"

Some Grey Dog soldiers completely broke down, dropping their weapons and trying to flee, but they were gunned down by the Blood Angels Space Marines before they could run a few steps, or shot by the Zhengqujun officers supervising the rear for desertion.

Other Grey Dog soldiers fell into extreme conflict.

They held their outdated, old-fashioned Laser Guns or projectile Rifles, their fingers on the triggers, but they dared not fire.

A young Grey Dog soldier watched a Fengqi garrison soldier beside him blown to pieces by a bolt, then saw a red giant charging toward him from not far away; he was so scared that his Laser Gun dropped to the ground.

"Pick it up! You trash! Fire!"

His Captain roared, while continuously firing his Pistol at the Blood Angels Space Marines.

"Cap... Captain... we... we can't win..."

The Captain kicked the young soldier and growled.

"This is an order! Fight if you want to live! Otherwise, we are all going to die!"

The young soldier tremblingly picked up his gun, closed his eyes, and fired a shot wildly; the energy beam flew off to who knows where.

Just then, an Angel Warrior noticed this small firing point.

He raised his Bolter.

Seeing the muzzle pointed at him, the Captain's face twisted; he continued to fire in vain while letting out a final curse.

"Long live the Fengqi Star Alliance!!"

Bang!

The Bolter round hit the Captain precisely, blowing his head and upper body into nothingness.

The young Greyhound soldier was blown away by the blast wave, slammed heavily onto the ground, his ears ringing, his face covered in blood and dust.

He looked at the spot where his Captain had vanished, not yet having reacted, when a "bang" of a gunshot rang out, and his own head was blown apart as well.

Until the very last moment of his life, this soldier was thinking.

Who was he fighting for? Why was he dying?

The miners were stunned by this earth-shattering turn of events.

Axing, Buen, and Laoka stared dumbfounded as those red giants battled the Fengqi soldiers, watching as the usually overbearing "Greyhounds" and the garrison were simply no match for them.

"Who... who are those people?"

Axing muttered to himself.

"I... I don't know... they... they are fighting the Fengqi people!"

"Heavenly gods... have the heavenly gods come to save us?"

The battle continued.

The Blood Angels advanced steadily; their goal was to clear out all resistance forces wearing Fengqi Military uniforms, as the local troops posed no threat to them.

If others showed a tendency to attack them, they could also be killed, but targets without hostile intent could be left for later.

A Blood Angels Sergeant smashed a Fengqi heavy weapon platform with one punch, then spoke into the Communication Device inside his helmet.

"This is Squad Five! West side of the mining area cleared! Found a large number of local labor survivors! Requesting instructions!"

"Prioritize ensuring the safety of the survivors and establish a defensive point. Continue advancing into the depths of the mining area to clear out all remaining resistance forces. For the Emperor!"

"For the Emperor!"

The Blood Angels Sergeant replied, then gestured to the Blood Angels Space Marines behind him.

Several Blood Angels Space Marines immediately occupied advantageous positions to keep watch, while another Blood Angels Space Marine walked toward the miners crouching on the ground.

The tall figure, stained with blood and gunpowder smoke, approached, the pressure he brought causing the miners to instinctively retreat.

This Blood Angels Space Marine stopped, took off his helmet, and revealed a perfect face.

His gaze swept over the miners, and he said in a gentle voice.

"Innocents, you are safe. In the name of the Human Emperor, the Blood Angels have come to liberate this world."

Axing raised his head, looking at that inhumanly perfect face, looking into those eyes as deep as a sea of stars, and listening to those strange yet powerful words...

Human Emperor? Blood Angels? Liberation?

These words were like a foreign language to him, but he could feel the power contained in that sentence and... something he had never experienced before, called "hope."

Like the other miners, he stared blankly at the red giant, looked at the still-intense battlefield around him, and felt as if the entire world had been turned upside down.
