Chapter 90: Keeping a Promise

~7 min read 1,239 words

After the medical Xiunu conducted an "interrogation" of the two, Xisi and Kangna very cooperatively told them everything they knew.

"Thank you for your cooperation. I will keep my promise and ensure you no longer suffer such pain," Yingzhou said with a smile, taking the marks the two had made on the map.

"Thank you! Thank you!" Xisi hurriedly thanked him. Kangna, however, closed his eyes in despair.

After recalling the five medical Xiunu, Yingzhou left the luxurious house.

Xisi and Kangna were stunned; was he just leaving like that?

"He really seems to have left. Hiss, it hurts like hell. When dawn comes, I'll definitely make that guy pay!" Xisi's bright red lips were still trembling, his voice so low that even Kangna beside him could barely hear it, but his eyes had turned fierce.

Less than two minutes after the two caught their breath, the house door opened again, and a green-skinned Orc that looked like a Human walked in.

The Orc recalled the might of the tall, strong man outside the door and couldn't help but feel a chill in its heart.

When it saw Xisi and Kangna looking at it with terrified eyes, a cruel smile appeared on its ugly face.

Xisi and Kangna looked at the approaching Orc and wanted to cry out for help, but they found they no longer had the strength to shout; the interrogation by those medical Xiunu had left them without a shred of energy to call for help.

Outside the door, Yingzhou waited until the movement inside the house ceased before entering again; the two pieces of trash had already been cruelly killed by this Orc.

Seeing Yingzhou enter, the Orc tried to flee, but it was quickly hoisted up by Yingzhou and bound once more.

After the other team members entered and discovered that the medical Xiunu Yingzhou had just summoned had vanished, there was clear disappointment on their faces.

Yingzhou ignored the group, handed the bound Orc to Zhao Jian beside him, and said, "Let's go. There is one more place; we must hurry."

Fourth Defense Zone Inner City.

Xindi was pacing back and forth in his tent. Seeing that dawn was about to break and there was still no news from Yingzhou, he wondered if something had gone wrong.

"If this fails, the Inner City is finished. Please, let everything be alright," Xindi muttered to himself while walking.

Just as Xindi was waiting anxiously, his Guard walked in quietly, "Chief, Captain Ying just sent someone to deliver a map."

"Quick! Let me see!" The worried look on Xindi's face vanished, replaced by excitement and agitation.

The Guard took out a black package and handed it to Xindi.

After Xindi let the Guard leave and told him to watch for movement outside, he felt the package; it was very thin, and Xindi pinched it, feeling that it was a piece of paper inside.

After opening the package, Xindi discovered it was two blood-stained maps; the one on top had 8 locations marked in blood, and the one below had 6.

Although Xindi knew Yingzhou would surely use some special means to obtain this intelligence, he hadn't expected Yingzhou's methods to be so simple and brutal—had he just taken action directly?

Was he not afraid of those people retaliating against... him afterward? No way, right? He couldn't possibly be that crazy, could he?

Halfway through his thoughts, an unpleasant idea appeared in Xindi's mind; although he tried hard not to think the worst, these blood-stained maps gave him a bad feeling.

He plotted the 14 locations onto a new map, hid the two blood-stained maps, and after confirming he hadn't missed anything, he called the Guard at the door inside.

"You take this map to the Captain of the Third Regiment and have him follow the locations marked on the map to find the supplies and weapons."

Xindi handed the map he had finished marking to the Guard and said.

"Yes!"

"Now, as long as we have weapons, equipment, and supplies, we can still put up a fight against the Orcs."

Xindi whispered to himself after the Guard left.

After working all night, Yingzhou wrapped the two maps in a piece of black cloth and had Zhao Jian deliver them to Xindi's side.

"Ah, busy all night, my blood pressure has gone up quite a bit. What kind of trash were those people?"

Yingzhou returned to his guesthouse room and complained helplessly.

While Yingzhou was washing his face, he suddenly heard a rhythmic sound of footsteps outside. He saw a squad of soldiers running in one direction; Yingzhou remembered that it should have been one of the marks Kangna had drawn.

"Oh ho, moving so fast? Looks like they were well-prepared," Yingzhou remarked, watching the squad of soldiers leave from the window.

Afterward, Yingzhou sat cross-legged on the bed and began Gathering Spiritual Power until noon.

A knock sounded at the door. Yingzhou got off the bed, opened the door, and found Kelin looking at him with a grave expression.

"Councilor Kelin, what is it? Is there something you need from me?" Yingzhou asked, looking at Kelin in confusion.

"Yesterday, an Orc attacked several representatives of our Inner City. I wanted to see if you had been attacked by an Orc," Kelin said, watching Yingzhou, whose expression remained unchanged.

"That is truly tragic. These Beast Race are simply too abominable to do such a thing at a time like this!" Yingzhou put on a look of grief and indignation, his tone full of anger.

"Sigh, when we found this Orc, it was already dead. I wanted to ask if your team members went out last night?" Kelin sighed softly and began to inquire about the situation of Yingzhou's team members.

"Them? They should be in their rooms Gathering Spiritual Power right now, shouldn't they? Shall I call them out for you to ask?" Although Yingzhou said this, his body showed no sign of moving.

Seeing Yingzhou's attitude, Kelin had to give up, "It's nothing. It's just that with such an incident occurring, the Inner City is now in a state of panic, which will cause us no small amount of trouble in resisting the Beast Race's attack."

"Hmm, to resist the Beast Race's attack now, everyone must go all out, not like that meeting we had," Yingzhou nodded and replied.

"Captain Ying, if you have any good defensive suggestions, you can discuss them with Xindi. I won't disturb you further; I shall take my leave." After saying a few words to Yingzhou, Kelin turned and left.

"Naturally, if I have time, I will go find him." Yingzhou watched Kelin disappear into the corridor and then closed the door.

Fourth Defense Zone Outer City.

Mailun was carving a Rune onto a round Rune Bullet. As the Rune adhered to the bullet, Mailun let out a soft sigh of relief.

Around him were some Orcs holding staffs; they were Priest Apprentices, dressed differently from Priests, and were the reserve candidates for the Beast Race Priests.

"Cough, cough, be careful when carving Runes onto the Rune Bullets; don't let them explode," Mailun coughed twice and said to the Priest Apprentices who were carving Runes on the Rune Bullets.

"Yes! Teacher Mailun!"

Just as Mailun stood up, his Orc Guard walked in and said to him in a muffled voice.

"Lord Mailun, the two troops sent by Lord Maike have arrived."
