Chapter 918: Attacking Sanpimu Star (4)

Outside Sanpimu Star.

Mortarion's fleet and the Sanpimu Star defense fleet fired upon each other; missiles and energy beams flew out incessantly.

Mortarion stood on the command deck.

His gaze swept across the holographic tactical display, assessing the battlefield situation.

The tactical officer reported at this moment.

"The enemy is reorganizing their formation; their cruisers are covering the frigate groups as they move toward our right flank."

Mortarion nodded and ordered.

"As expected. All ships, have the Second Company of the Dusk Raiders board the enemy orbital platform."

The order was transmitted via an encrypted channel.

In the landing pods at the rear of the fleet, the Astartes of the Dusk Raiders were making their final preparations.

Unlike the Dark Angels, the Power Armor of these warriors was greyish-white, with only some green accents on the shoulder pads.

Captain Gareier checked his Bolter and transmitted the order to the entire assault team through his Helmet Communicator.

"Remember, our objective is to capture or destroy the Orbital Defense Platform. There are Psionics on the side of the heretics; do not underestimate them."

"Yes!"

In space, the battle grew increasingly intense.

Mortarion's fleet utilized the asteroid belt as cover while launching precision strikes against the Sanpimu Star fleet.

"The enemy flagship is turning; it seems it wants to face us directly."

Mortarion sneered and said in a deep voice.

"Arrogance. All ships, concentrate fire on its engine section. Make it lose its mobility."

The main battery array of the cruiser where Mortarion was located began to charge, energy gathering within the barrels.

At the same time, the Sword-class Frigate groups pushed forward, drawing enemy fire.

"Fire!"

A massive energy beam tore through the void, striking directly at the Fengqi flagship.

The ship-borne shields of the Fengqi flagship flickered, eventually overloading.

The beam hit the engine section directly, triggering a series of explosions.

"Target hit! The enemy flagship has lost power!"

Mortarion nodded.

"Good. Now, release the Assault Boats. Let the Dusk Raiders capture the nearest orbital platform."

Dozens of Assault Boats flew out from the Mother Ship, heading toward the nearest Orbital Defense Platform.

These platforms were equipped with heavy artillery and missile arrays, capable of posing a serious threat to the fleet.

Gareier was in his Assault Boat, watching the rapidly approaching orbital platform.

"All squads, prepare for boarding. Squads one through five are responsible for seizing the control center, squads six through ten will clear the outer defenses."

The Assault Boat approached the target rapidly, and the platform's point-defense turrets began firing.

"Point-defense turrets firing! Multiple Assault Boats have been hit!"

Gareier's Assault Boat shook violently; a close-range explosion nearly knocked him off course.

"Evasive maneuvers! All crew, prepare for impact!"

Although the fleet was providing constant fire suppression, several Assault Boats were still hit by the platform's point-defense system.

Two exploded in the void.

Another was severely damaged, barely continuing forward.

"Three Assault Boats lost, the rest continue forward."

For the final distance, the Assault Boats sprinted at maximum speed.

The platform's point-defense turrets fired at full capacity, but under the fire suppression of Mortarion's fleet, they could not completely stop the landing force.

"Impact countdown: three, two, one!"

The Assault Boats crashed directly into the platform's outer structure, the hatches blew open, and the Dusk Raiders poured out rapidly.

"For the Emperor!"

Gareier shouted, his Bolter already firing.

The Fengqi defenders inside the platform reacted quickly.

Fengqi soldiers wearing heavy armor occupied strategic positions, and energy weapons fired rapidly.

"There is a heavy weapon emplacement in the left corridor!"

A Dusk Raiders Astartes warned.

Gareier gripped his Power Sword and let out a low growl.

"Cover me!"

Bolter fire suppressed the heavy weapon emplacement, and Gareier took the opportunity to approach.

Two Dusk Raiders provided cover on his flanks, their Bolter fire picking off the Fengqi defenders who tried to stop Gareier.

Reaching the front of the heavy weapon emplacement, Gareier threw a Hand Grenade.

Amidst the explosion, Gareier charged into the smoke, his Power Sword swinging, cleaving the Fengqi soldiers operating the heavy weapons along with their equipment.

"Corridor cleared! Advance!"

The Dusk Raiders pushed forward; their Power Armor was relatively heavy and thick, capable of withstanding more attacks.

Before the main corridor leading to the control center, a special unit of Fengqi soldiers blocked the way.

These soldiers had unique psionic symbols on their armor, and their Third Eye was fully open, flickering with dangerous energy light.

Sensing the energy fluctuations radiating from these Heretics, Gareier growled in the communication channel.

"Psionics! Watch out for their abilities!"

The leading Fengqi Psionic raised a hand, and an invisible force suddenly swept through the corridor.

Three advancing Dusk Raiders Space Marines were thrown against the wall, their Power Armor emitting faint cracking sounds.

"Suppress them!"

Gareier raised his gun and fired.

The bolter rounds flew toward the Fengqi Psionic, but were deflected by a translucent Energy Barrier before impact.

A second Psionic pushed both hands forward, and a searing stream of energy shot toward a Dusk Raiders Space Marine.

"Scatter!"

Gareier shouted, dodging the lethal attack just in time.

A squad member behind him was not so lucky; the energy stream struck his chest plate directly, melting through the Ceramite.

The squad member fell, and the life support system immediately activated.

"Medic!"

Gareier shouted while continuing to fire.

"We need heavy weapons!"

A Dusk Raiders Space Marine stepped forward carrying a Plasma Cannon, but before he could fire, the third Psionic made a gesture.

The weapon suddenly overheated and was forced to be discarded.

"Their Psionic powers can affect our weapons!"

The Techmarine warned.

Gareier gritted his teeth and shouted.

"Melee! Assault squad, charge!"

Ten Dusk Raiders drew their melee weapons and launched a charge.

The Psionics concentrated their energy, forming a shockwave that pushed forward.

Five assault squad members were hit directly and sent flying backward, but the other five successfully closed the distance.

Gareier took the lead, his Power Sword slashing toward the leading Psionic.

The Fengqi Psionic retreated rapidly while using an Energy Barrier to block the attack.

The blade collided with the barrier, bursting with blinding sparks.

"You cannot win, invaders; Sanpimu Star is protected by the Fengqi Star Alliance."

Gareier did not answer, merely increasing the intensity of his attacks.

Every slash of his Power Sword made the Energy Barrier flicker unsteadily.

Other Dusk Raiders Space Marines also engaged the Psionics and their guards.

A Psionic focused their mind, and suddenly, Gareier felt a tremendous pressure envelop his entire body, as if trying to crush him.

The Servo System of his Power Armor resisted this invisible force.

"Captain!"

A Dusk Raiders Space Marine shouted, blocked by another Psionic.

Gareier gritted his teeth and held on, the joints of his Power Armor creaking.

Just as he felt his Power Armor could no longer hold, the pressure suddenly vanished.

He looked up to see a Dusk Raiders Librarian stepping forward; the second wave of assault ships had landed!
