Chapter 96: Raid on the Orc Siege Camp
Yingzhou looked at Hubiao strangely, thinking to himself: Just a moment ago, this fellow was acting quite normal, so what has happened to him now?
However, he did not pay any mind to Hubiao's change in behavior and said to him, "The survivors in the Wastestone District will be rescued by others. For now, you can take these survivors and leave, heading toward the Giant Cedar District Guerrilla Gathering Place; it is safer there."
"O-okay," Hubiao nodded and replied.
Seeing that there was nothing left for him to do here, Yingzhou turned and left.
After finding the Catachan tough guy and arranging a new task, he himself should also head to the Inner City gate to raid the Beast Race troops.
Not until Yingzhou had left did Ye Peng speak up to ask the Catachan tough guy wearing a hat, "What were you two just talking about?"
The Catachan tough guy wearing a hat grinned, "We can now deal a heavy blow to those Beast Race! You all are about to welcome the dawn!"
Ye Peng was stunned. So, that tall man was planning to go and raid the Orc troops all by himself? And these soldiers were also going to continue causing trouble for the Orcs' rear camp?
"Alright, let's get moving quickly!" the Catachan tough guy wearing a hat said to Ye Peng and Hubiao.
Although Hubiao had some doubts in his heart, for now, he could only head to the Giant Cedar District first, gather his men, and then come back to save the other survivors.
Amidst the dilapidated buildings, a group of survivors began to busy themselves, and under the cover of the night, they began to advance in the direction of the Giant Cedar District.
After walking out of the Wastestone District Guerrilla Gathering Place, Yingzhou summoned the long-absent Krieg Cavalry; 35 Krieg Cavalry appeared behind him, and he himself mounted a Krieg Bio-Steed.
36 bio-steeds galloped through the night, racing toward the direction of the Inner City gate.
The scenery before Yingzhou's eyes retreated rapidly, and the bursts of hoofbeats sounded exceptionally harsh in the quiet Outer City.
Very quickly, Yingzhou encountered an Orc Patrol Squad.
Those Orcs looked back, and upon seeing a Two-legged Sheep that was even stronger and taller than themselves leading a group of masked Two-legged Sheep riding horses and charging toward them, they shouted gibberish.
"Cavalry! Two-legged Sheep cavalry!"
The Orcs of the Patrol Squad raised the large rifles in their hands, but by this time, Yingzhou had already led the Krieg Cavalry right up to the faces of these Orcs; they had discovered them too late.
Yingzhou gripped his chainsword tightly with both hands, a glimmer of excitement flashing in his eyes.
He swung forward violently; the chainsword emitted a buzzing sound, its sharp teeth spinning as it slashed down rapidly toward an Orc.
This Orc was split in two by Yingzhou, its corpse falling to the ground with blood splattering everywhere.
The hunting spears in the hands of the Krieg Cavalry accurately pierced into the bodies of the Orcs, then instantly triggered violent explosions. The power of the explosions caused the Orcs to be blown directly into fragments, which fell to the ground like rain.
Most of the Orcs were knocked flying by the powerful impact of the bio-steeds, their bodies tracing a graceful arc in the air before landing heavily on the ground.
Although these Orcs possessed tenacious vitality, this collision caused them severe injuries. As they fell heavily to the ground, fresh blood gushed from all over their bodies, staining the ground red.
Even so, these Orcs did not die immediately but struggled, trying to stand up.
However, before these Orcs could stand up, they were met by the hunting spears in the hands of the Krieg Cavalry, which pierced their bodies once again. The sharp spearheads easily penetrated the Orcs' skin and muscles, driving deep into their bodies before exploding.
At the same time, the hooves of the bio-steeds trampled upon the bodies of the Orcs, crushing them into a pulp of flesh.
This battle ended in the blink of an eye.
Yingzhou did not even stop his forward pace; he led the Krieg Cavalry to continue galloping, leaving behind a scene of carnage on the battlefield.
Broken Orc corpses were scattered across the street, fresh blood stained the entire road, and the air was filled with a thick, bloody stench.
Along the way, Yingzhou encountered 4 Orc Patrol Squads; each time, it was a rapid approach, a charge, and the end of the battle.
Relying on the formidable physical constitution of the bio-steeds and the superior terrain of the Outer City, by the time those Orc Patrol Squads had just reacted, he had already arrived before them with the Krieg Cavalry to take their lives.
Yingzhou saw those groups of Orcs stationed about 3 kilometers opposite the Inner City gate before he stopped and recalled the Krieg Cavalry.
The equipment of the Orcs in the camp was different from the Orc Patrol Squads he had just encountered; basically, all the Orc soldiers were wearing rune bulletproof armor, and Yingzhou also saw some strong, tall Orcs wearing armor-like protective gear.
"Is this also protective gear produced by themselves after imitating human armor? These Orcs seem to be able to engrave a type of rune-based power onto their equipment, somewhat similar to the Engravers of the Human Alliance. Is it those Orc Priests who lead this power to create this equipment?"
Yingzhou watched those few tall Orcs enter a tent in the darkness and muttered to himself.
After confirming that the area was filled with Orcs, the corners of Yingzhou's mouth tilted slightly upward.
"Heh, I wonder if your runes can withstand a barrage of firepower?"
Outside the Inner City gate, Orc Camp.
Mailun paced in his tent; two Orc guards walked in at this moment, saluted him, and said in muffled voices, "Priest, is there anything we can do for you?"
Mailun narrowed his eyes and said to his guards, "Have those rune cannons been hidden well? We cannot afford any accidents at this time."
"Reporting to the Priest, everything is prepared properly; the rune cannons have been stored separately according to your requirements."
"Very good! Tomorrow we will attack the Two-legged Sheep Inner City and let them witness the rune technology of our Beast Race!" A trace of a smile appeared on Mailun's ugly face.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
A series of explosions suddenly came from outside the tent, and Mailun's expression instantly turned very poor.
"Damn it, those apprentices, I told them all to be careful, be careful! Why did they still let the rune bullets explode!"
But the explosions outside the tent became more and more frequent, which made Mailun realize something was wrong; even if there had been mistakes by Priest Apprentices before that led to rune bullet explosions, there wouldn't be this many sounds.
"Priest, the tents in front of us have been attacked!" One of Mailun's guards went out to check and soon returned to report to Mailun.
"What! Those Two-legged Sheep opened fire on us? Have you confirmed the direction?" A trace of agitation flashed across Mailun's face as he spoke.
A look of difficulty appeared on the guard's face, but seeing Mailun's urgent gaze, he said, "It is not the city defense cannons of the Two-legged Sheep Inner City, but an area in the east of the Outer City that opened fire on us. There are at least 10 to 15 cannons!"
"Outer City?" Mailun was puzzled at first, then quickly issued an order. "Quick! Have a Camp Leader take his troops and go solve this Two-legged Sheep unit for me! Is this the elite that Maike spoke of? Heh, too reckless."
"Yes!" Not even a minute after the guard went out, the cannon fire stopped.
But Mailun was not worried that those Two-legged Sheep would escape; taking artillery and retreating—that is not something that can be done just by saying so.
