Chapter 975: The Defeat at Ka Lun Star is Sealed

Following the death of Norn Legion Commander and the total capture of the flagship "Firm Bastion" by Sanguinius and his strike team.

The battle line, which had previously relied on the "Guardian" fleet to hold on desperately, now fell into complete chaos.

Having lost unified command, the final orders received by each ship were contradictory.

Some captains attempted to continue executing Norn's "fight to the death" order, launching a charge toward the Blood Angels Fleet.

Others began to retreat, only to be picked off one by one by the Blood Angels' artillery.

The cleanup began.

A heavy cruiser of the "Fist of the Firmament" Legion was known for its thick armor and powerful frontal firepower.

When the news of Norn's fall arrived, the cruiser's captain refused to accept defeat.

"Communications officer! Connect me to all ships still in contact! We cannot retreat! For the Legion Commander! For the glory of the 'Fist of the Firmament', charge! Even if we have to ram, we will sink an Alien warship!"

The heavy cruiser pushed its engine output to the maximum, ignoring the torpedoes constantly flying in from the flanks, its ship-borne shields flickering on the edge of overload as it rammed toward the nearest Blood Angels Sword-class Frigate.

"Enemy heavy cruiser suicide ramming attempt detected!"

Inside the frigate's Bridge, alarms sounded.

The captain gave the order.

"All broadside Macro-cannons, aim for its engines and thruster arrays. Slow it down."

The order was executed.

Just as the heavy cruiser was about to enter its final ramming trajectory, dense Macro-cannon Rune Bullets struck its engine nozzles and stern structure.

A series of explosions erupted from the heavy cruiser's stern; its speed dropped sharply, and its direction veered.

In the end, the heavy cruiser failed to hit the Sword-class Frigate, sliding past the Sword-class Frigate's Void Shield and exposing its own broadside completely.

The heavy cruiser's main battery did not move; only the secondary weapon platforms on its broadside fired a volley.

Having lost power and most of its shields, the heavy cruiser suffered internal secondary explosions; fireballs devoured its remaining hull, and it soon turned into floating metal wreckage.

A destroyer belonging to the conventional fleet, upon detecting the disappearance of the flagship's signal, had its captain immediately issue an order.

"Maximum combat speed! Disengage from the battlefield! Activate all electronic warfare equipment! We are leaving this place!"

The destroyer, evading the surrounding explosions and the wreckage of friendly ships, pushed its engines to the limit, attempting to slip away using the edge of an asteroid belt as cover.

Just as the destroyer was about to enter a dense cluster of asteroids.

Two Blood Angels destroyers emerged from behind the shadows of several meteorites.

The two destroyers' torpedo tubes fired simultaneously.

"No! Evasive maneuvers! Evasive maneuvers now!"

Several torpedoes struck the destroyer's engine room and navigation tower, with two torpedoes hitting the destroyer's belly.

Successive explosions tore the fleeing destroyer into three pieces, the wreckage mixed with frozen body parts, pushed deep into the asteroid belt by the shockwaves of the explosions.

After Norn sortied, the surviving ships that Colonel Walton ordered to retreat mostly gathered within the platform's fire support range.

However, when the Blood Angels Fleet had basically cleared the resistance in the void, this massive Steel Fortress became the next target that needed to be purged.

The "Ka Lun Eye" platform had powerful firepower, upgraded shields, and was garrisoned with a large number of defenders and a small number of "Guardian" troops forcibly kept behind by Colonel Walton.

Upon receiving the sporadic information that Norn's fleet had been disastrously defeated and completely wiped out, the interior of the platform fell into a state of oppressive panic.

Energy Shields were fully activated, all weapon arrays were fully charged, and the remaining defenders had entered the highest state of combat readiness.

Sanguinius stood on the Bridge of the "Angel" and gave the order calmly.

The surrounding ships began to maneuver at the edge of the platform's firing range.

Light Lances and Macro-cannons began to continuously cut into and bombard the platform's Energy Shield.

The Energy Shield rippled violently under the furious attacks, flickering on and off.

The platform's defenders also returned fire.

Massive orbital turrets fired, and dense energy beams and Missiles flew toward the Blood Angels Fleet.

But these attacks were blocked by the Void Shield.

This was an asymmetric war of attrition.

The platform's shields were continuously weakening, while the Blood Angels Fleet patiently dismantled the opponent's defenses.

When the platform's joint shields became riddled with holes due to overload and structural damage, continuing to fire would only increase ammunition consumption.

"Landing troops, prepare."

Sanguinius ordered simply.

The next moment, hundreds of Blood Angels Thunderhawk Gunships flew out from the Mother Ship, ignoring the platform's remaining anti-aircraft fire, and forcibly landed on the orbital defense platform!

The Thunderhawk Gunships used autocannons and Missiles to clear resistance in the landing zone, then opened their hatches.

The wings behind Sanguinius fluttered, and he flew out of the Thunderhawk Gunship.

A "Guardian" officer growled the order.

Dense attacks flew toward Sanguinius.

The wings behind Sanguinius gave a slight flutter, and a layer of soft energy field emerged; all attacks that struck it were reduced to nothingness.

The Power Spear in Sanguinius's hand tapped, thrust, and swept with casual ease.

Golden spear light flashed, the Energy Barrier shattered, Power Armor was torn apart, and the "Guardian" and soldiers attempting to block him fell in rows.

Wherever Sanguinius passed, only burning wreckage and the corpses of Alien remained.

The internal defenses of the platform crumbled rapidly under the personal assault of Sanguinius.

Sanguinius headed straight for the core control room.

The thick blast door was easily pierced through by the Power Spear.

When Sanguinius finally reached the deathly silent core control room, the last few high-ranking Fengqi officers inside were preparing to initiate the platform's self-destruct sequence.

Sanguinius swept his gaze across the room and tapped the Power Spear lightly against the ground.

Hum!

A wave of psychic energy rippled out, causing all the operating interfaces in the control room to go black and flicker with electrical sparks.

The self-destruct sequence was forcibly interrupted.

"The rule of the Alien ends here."

Sanguinius declared calmly, and then, the Power Spear cast forth a golden radiance.

A moment later, silence returned to the core control room, along with a few charred corpses.

With the control room captured, resistance in various areas of the platform was successively cleared by the Blood Angels landing forces.

Having lost its core energy supply, the "Ka Lun Eye" Orbital Defense Platform ceased operation completely.
