Chapter 986: Battle on Planet L-449 (2)

~6 min read 1,183 words

Laser beams and ballistic weapons intertwined on the ice field.

The Valhalla soldiers resisted, with the sound of laser gun bursts, the roar of bolters, and the screams of soldiers before death.

Fortifications were constantly destroyed by the heavy weapons of the Guardian, and soldiers kept falling into pools of blood, staining the pristine white ice and snow a glaring red.

Major Kele personally operated a heavy bolter, firing violently at the charging Guardian, knocking down two, but more enemies surged up.

A plasma charge exploded not far from him, and the scorching heat wave knocked him to the ground.

"Commander!"

A Valhalla soldier tried to drag him back to cover.

"Don't worry about me! Hold the position!"

Kele pushed the soldier away, struggled to get up, and continued firing.

He saw in the distance that more drop pods and large transport ships were landing, and tens of thousands of Fengqi soldiers began to disembark.

Just then, a sudden change occurred!

Several drop pods smashed into the area where the Guardian's offensive forces were most dense!

The hatches exploded open, and out walked tall Dusk Raiders Space Marines wearing unpainted power armor.

It was the assault team led by Hector, the Adjutant to Company Commander Galadun!

To prevent L-449 Star from falling too early, Galadun had Hector bring an assault team to support the Valhalla forces on the planet!

"For the Emperor! Purge the Alien!"

Hector's voice resounded across the battlefield through the power armor's loudspeaker.

The power sword in his hand swung, carrying destructive power, slicing three Fengqi soldiers who tried to intercept him in half!

The other Dusk Raiders Space Marines also began their slaughter; bolters fired continuously, the risk of plasma guns overheating was ignored by them, and the roar of chainswords echoed across the battlefield.

Hector withstood the Guardian's firepower, tearing a gap in the enemy line, leaving behind a ground full of mutilated corpses wherever he passed.

The appearance of Hector's assault team injected a shot of adrenaline into the Valhalla forces.

The surviving Valhalla soldiers erupted with courage, following the footsteps of the Dusk Raiders to launch a counter-charge.

"For Cadian! For the Emperor!"

Major Kele shouted hoarsely, leading the remnants behind the Death Guard, launching a desperate charge against enemies several times their number.

Ice, snow, mud, blood, and metal fragments mixed together.

The Dusk Raiders Space Marines displayed astonishing resilience; their power armor could withstand incredible damage, and their will was as cold as ice.

Every swing of Hector's power sword inevitably took several lives, and even a Commander of the Guardian Legion was beheaded in a brief clash with him.

However, the number of enemies was simply too great.

Thousands of Guardians, even if caught off guard by the Dusk Raiders' surprise attack, were enough to drown everything with their massive numbers.

Countless Fengqi soldiers surged from all directions, and volleys of energy guns landed on the Dusk Raiders' power armor.

Furthermore, heavy weapon teams were mobilized to focus fire on these suddenly appearing giants with anti-armor weapons.

A Dusk Raiders Space Marine was hit by several missiles simultaneously, his power armor shattered, and he sacrificed himself heroically.

Another Dusk Raiders warrior was pierced through the chest by a Guardian using an energy sword to cover his comrade.

Hector's power armor was also covered in scars, and one of his arms was destroyed by plasma, but he still fought with his other hand wielding the power sword.

"The Emperor has not abandoned us! The Angels have descended!"

Major Kele struggled to crawl back behind his heavy bolter.

"For Valhalla! For the Emperor! Follow the footsteps of the Angels! Charge!"

"For Valhalla!"

The remaining Valhalla soldiers erupted with earth-shattering roars; they raised their laser guns with bayonets already fixed, following the massive backs of the Dusk Raiders, and launched a desperate counter-charge against enemies several, even dozens of times their number!

Ice, snow, frozen earth blasted loose, splashing blood, twisted metal fragments... everything mixed together in the intense exchange of fire and slaughter, turning this area into a true hell on earth.

The Fengqi officers realized the threat of these "unpainted giants."

Several heavy weapon teams were urgently mobilized to set up large-caliber anti-armor laser cannons and railguns!

"Lord Angel!"

Major Kele rushed to Hector's vicinity with a few soldiers, desperately blocking the enemies trying to approach with laser rifles and bayonets.

"Focus on your enemies, Major!"

Hector did not look back, backhanding his sword to pierce another Fengqi soldier.

"Hold this area until it can no longer be held."

Kele looked at Hector's back, which was damaged but still upright, and the surrounding Dusk Raiders who were killing in silence and constantly suffering casualties; a feeling mixed with reverence and determination surged into his heart.

These Angels of the Emperor had come to die with them.

The number of Valhalla soldiers was decreasing rapidly; they often had to pay the price of dozens of lives to trade for the life of one Guardian, and they were also trapped in a brutal war of attrition against ordinary Fengqi soldiers.

There were fewer and fewer soldiers around Major Kele; his heavy bolter had long since run out of ammunition, and at this moment, he was fighting a Fengqi soldier with a chainsword picked up from a fallen comrade.

He had already sustained several wounds, his cold-weather gear was torn, and blood was gushing out.

Just as the Fengqi soldier raised a thermal blade to pierce Kele's skull, a flash of sword light swept by!

Hector appeared at Kele's side, his power sword slicing off the Fengqi soldier's arm, followed by a flick of the sword tip that pierced his helmet.

"Your courage is worthy of praise."

Hector glanced at the blood-soaked Kele and said briefly.

"It is our honor to fight alongside you, my Lord!"

Kele gasped, steadying himself with the chainsword.

Their brief exchange was quickly interrupted by an even more violent attack.

More enemies surged up, among them many Guardians wielding heavy weapons.

Hector swung his single arm, struggling to parry, but the impact of losing an arm finally began to show; his movements were no longer as fluid as they had been at the start.

A railgun Rune Bullet struck the cover beside Hector, and the shockwave of the explosion knocked him to the ground.

Seeing this, several Guardians immediately lunged forward, their Energy Swords thrusting straight at the vital points of Hector's chest plate!

"No!"

Kele wanted to rush over, but was held back tightly by two other Fengqi soldiers.

The few remaining Dusk Raiders Space Marines let out a roar, charging toward Hector's direction and using their bodies and weapons to build a final line of defense for him.

The roar of bolters and the screech of Chain Saws reached a crescendo, but the number of enemies was simply too great...

When Kele severed the throats of those two Fengqi soldiers with his Chainsword and rushed near Hector, covered in blood.

What Kele saw was the scene of the last Dusk Raiders warrior, focused by dense High-Explosive Armor-Piercing Shells, slowly falling.
