Chapter 992: It Is Not Yet Too Late
Mortarion's first glance fell upon Galadun, who was leaning against the wreckage of a conduit, covered in wounds.
Mortarion spoke slowly.
"My son... I have come, it is not yet too late."
The next moment, Mortarion moved.
He simply swung the Power Scythe in his hand.
A blurred gray shadow swept across the corridor.
Time began to flow once more.
Those Fengqi Military soldiers and Guardians who had been standing frozen in place just a moment ago fell in droves!
It was only after the Power Scythe had swept past that their bodies unnaturally split and shattered!
There were no screams, no struggles, only a hair-raising silence and the thick, pervasive scent of blood.
With just a single strike, the enemies in the first half of the entire corridor were wiped out!
The surviving Dusk Raiders warriors, including Galadun, watched this scene with excitement.
This was the power of a Primarch! This was the true strength of their father!
Mortarion stepped over the severed limbs littering the floor and walked up to Galadun.
His towering figure completely enveloped Galadun.
Galadun struggled, wanting to kneel on one knee to salute, but was gently held by the shoulder by Mortarion's giant hand that was not holding the scythe.
"No need for formalities, my Company Commander."
Mortarion's voice softened slightly.
"I am already aware of the heroism of you and your company. You held your ground in a desperate situation and dealt heavy losses to an enemy several times your size; you have not disgraced the name of the Dusk Raiders, nor have you failed the expectations of the Emperor and myself."
Mortarion gently brushed a smear of blood off Galadun's shoulder pad.
"You have done well, Galadun. You are my, Mortarion's, pride."
These words were like a warm torrent, instantly shattering the tightly coiled string in Galadun's heart.
Galadun replied in a hoarse voice.
"Father... we... failed to protect all our brothers... Hector... and the brothers on the ground..."
"I am already aware of their sacrifice. Blood debts must be paid in blood. I promise you, every Alien whose hands are stained with the blood of my progeny will pay the price. Now, tell me, can you still fight?"
Galadun raised his head; although his body was nearing its limit, the arrival and recognition of the Primarch seemed to inject new life into him.
He nodded vigorously, struggled to stand steady, and gripped the Power Sword in his hand tightly.
"At any time, Father! As long as I have a single breath left!"
"Very good."
Mortarion nodded with satisfaction. He turned around, looked at the Fengqi Military soldiers at the other end of the corridor who were retreating in terror due to his appearance, and spoke.
"Then, follow me, my sons."
Mortarion raised the Power Scythe in his hand, pointing it at the trembling enemies.
"Let us clear this ship together."
As Mortarion's words fell, more Dusk Raiders Space Marines poured in through the massive breach he had torn open, charging toward the remaining enemies with the fire of vengeance.
With the Primarch leading in person, the battle turned into a one-sided rout.
Wherever Mortarion passed, no enemy could block him for even a moment; every swing of the Power Scythe inevitably cleared a large area.
Galadun and the other warriors followed closely behind, using their remaining strength to coordinate with the Primarch's offensive and purge every corner.
The resistance of the Fengqi Military defenders collapsed completely after Mortarion entered the fray himself.
They screamed and fled in terror, but within this enclosed ship, there was nowhere to run.
The blade of vengeance of the Dusk Raiders would not spare a single one.
The final heavy blast door leading to the Bridge was sliced open directly by one of Mortarion's swings.
The few remaining Fengqi officers and Bridge guards behind the door did not even have time to raise their weapons before they were gunned down by the Dusk Raiders Space Marines pouring in behind the Primarch.
Mortarion's gaze fell upon the Fengqi captain in the captain's chair, and he spat out two words.
"Alien."
The Fengqi captain's hand froze in mid-air, his courage dissipating as he faced this incarnation of death.
His lips trembled, and he could not utter a single word.
Mortarion raised his foot and stomped.
"Crack!"
The sound of bone shattering rang out, and the Fengqi captain, along with the chair beneath him, turned into a blurred mixture of flesh and metal.
"Clean it up."
Mortarion said to Galadun and the other Dusk Raiders Space Marines who had followed him in.
Galadun endured the intense pain and exhaustion in his body, walked to a position slightly behind Mortarion's side, and spoke.
"Father, this ship..."
"It has fulfilled its mission, as a witness to the blood of my progeny and as the starting point for our vengeance. But it has been tainted, and its structure is severely damaged; it has no value in being preserved."
Mortarion raised his hand, pointing at several key markers on the tactical screen.
"Notify all units still on the ship: within one standard minute, evacuate to the 'Sigh' or the nearest Assault Boat. Then... initiate the ship's self-destruct sequence and set the reactor to overload. Let its final residual heat clear the battlefield for us."
"By your command, Father!"
Galadun immediately issued the order through the company communication channel.
The order was executed rapidly.
The Dusk Raiders Space Marines remaining throughout the Cruiser began to retreat, taking with them the remains and Gene-seed of their fallen brothers.
Mortarion re-established communication with Horus.
"Horus."
Horus's voice came through.
"Brother Mortarion, it seems you have already resolved the internal trouble."
"This Alien Cruiser is about to self-destruct. I will guide it toward the most concentrated area of the enemy's remaining fleet. Your fleet, take care to evade."
Horus chuckled on the other end.
"Understood, I will have the Luna Wolves keep their distance. What are your plans next? The planetary surface?"
"I have two companies and the mortal fleet on the surface, enough to complete the purification. My fleet will continue to clear out the remaining enemies in orbit. Ensure that no fish slip through the net."
"Of course, that is exactly why we are here. May victory favor you, brother."
"Victory belongs to the Emperor."
Mortarion responded flatly and ended the communication.
At this moment, a Tech-marine stepped forward to report.
"Father, all units have confirmed evacuation. The self-destruct sequence has been initiated; the reactor will reach critical point in three minutes."
Mortarion nodded, turned around, and strode outward.
Not long after they left, the reactor core of this Fengqi Cruiser finally reached its limit.
A dazzling white light burst from within the hull, Devouring the entire massive ship, followed by a massive release of energy that swept through everything!
Several small Fengqi ships that were too close and unable to fully disengage were torn apart and Devoured by this violent energy.
Ships further away were also shaken by the shockwave, causing them to sway, their shields flickering violently.
