Chapter 268: Whoever Comes to Save Me, I Will Kill
Ye Baiyi was unable to respond for a moment, then thought for a bit and said, "I will go move around some more and see if I can get you released."
This was no place for a prisoner; this was clearly a place for a master.
"I want to eat meat, every meal. If there is no meat at any meal, I will slaughter my way to the City Lord's kitchen," Meng Su said.
Ye Baiyi left, saying as he walked, "Fine, Master, you are ruthless."
In the prison, Meng Su sipped his wine while eating meat, humming pop songs from his past life; his little life was lived in a plain yet comfortable way.
"Hmm, more comfortable than the days of being a beggar. If it weren't for the fact that I need to take revenge, I would want to retire here," Meng Su thought after finishing his meal, lying on the bed with his left leg crossed over his right, a toothpick dangling from his mouth.
Three or four days passed without waiting for news from Ye Baiyi; it seemed Ye Baiyi had fallen into a land of gentleness and could not extricate himself. Meng Su ate his fill all day, living in a drunken dream.
This day, Meng Su was eating when he suddenly felt shadows moving and hurried footsteps outside the cell door, as if something major had happened. Suddenly, the prison shook violently, as if an earthquake had occurred, followed immediately by dense, irregular vibrations.
It was clear that this Main City was being attacked. Judging by the frequency of the vibrations, the opponent had deployed cannons or large catapults.
Although the Demon Realm was primarily focused on demon cultivation, technology was also budding, especially among ordinary people without cultivation; the application of technology was very widespread, such as the use of electrical energy and gunpowder. Therefore, in the siege, there appeared the bizarre scene of cannons and catapults coexisting.
However, the power of the catapults was far greater than that of the cannons; the cannons only fired shells, while the catapults fired Xiao Sha Zhen, killing large swaths at once.
Over the next two days, Meng Su heard a clamor of voices, with shouts of killing and cursing ringing out in unison. Enemies had killed their way into the Main City but were then killed back out; both sides suffered heavy losses.
The Main City had a large defensive city array, and since the Demon Cultivators of the Blood Demon Sect and the Wing Clan had already killed their way into the Main City, it was clear that the defensive array had been breached.
The next few days were peaceful again. No matter how tense the war was outside, Meng Su's meat and wine never decreased by a single day. Even if the fighting outside was as lively as could be, it could not affect Meng Su's drinking, eating, and humming of little tunes in the slightest.
Suddenly one day, there was chaos outside, followed by the sound of killing, and then the sound of someone opening doors one by one. Meng Su heard a familiar voice: "This isn't him, keep looking, we must find the Young Master."
This was a follower of Ji Shendao. He had actually led people to kill their way into the Main City and found the prison to save him. This follower was quite loyal; actually, there was no other way, for if one's master was lost, did one still have any value? The only thing waiting for him would be death.
Therefore, this follower had killed his way in regardless of everything.
Soon, Meng Su's cell door was hacked open, and a voice of surprise rang out: "Boss, come quickly, the Young Master is here."
Meng Su swallowed the meat in his mouth, holding a bowl in one hand and chopsticks in the other, curiously sizing up the reinforcements before him; this was also one of Ji Shendao's followers.
Soon that follower appeared before Meng Su. Upon seeing Meng Su, his eyes filled with hot tears, and he knelt on the ground at once, shouting, "Young Master, this humble one has finally found you. Quick, come with me, there are people outside to meet us, let's kill our way out."
Meng Su stopped his chopsticks and asked in confusion, "Leave? Why should I leave? There is good food and drink here, why should I leave? I'm a hostage anyway, it's the same wherever I am."
That follower was about to cry: "Young Master, stop messing around. To save you, we have been fighting continuously for over ten days just to get here. To save you, thousands of brothers have died. Hurry and come with me."
"Get lost. For the sake of your loyalty, I won't kill you. Don't come to save me again in the future; whoever comes to save me, I will kill," Meng Su scolded: "I want to eat their meat and sleep with their women, don't come to bother me again."
It was the Young Master, no mistake; only the Young Master could say such a thing. That follower had once doubted whether the person before him was truly his Young Master.
"Get lost quickly, I'll go back naturally when I'm tired of playing," Meng Su put down the bowl in his hand, kicked the follower out the door, closed it, and locked himself inside the cell.
Several followers looked at each other in dismay. After going through all kinds of hardships, this was the final result; they were not reconciled. That follower grabbed the iron bars of the cell with both hands, just about to try and persuade Meng Su again, when suddenly the sound of fighting came from outside; clearly, the people of the Feather Clan had killed their way in.
Helpless, the few followers and the dozen or so Wing Clan cultivators they brought could only leave.
That follower looked back every three steps, as if Meng Su were a lover he hadn't seen for many years. Meng Su waved at them with a smile: "Goodbye, take care on your way."
The next few days were peaceful again, with no shortage of wine and meat, and Ye Baiyi was nowhere to be seen.
"This son of a bitch wouldn't have really been recruited as a son-in-law by the City Lord and be so happy he forgot his home, would he?" Meng Su shook his head while hiccuping from the wine, walked to his small bed, and began his day of lying flat.
But today was rather strange; unlike usual, apart from the person delivering food, the prison was quiet. There were no patrols to be seen, and no one in the neighboring cells was banging on the doors to cry out their grievances. It was as silent as a classroom.
"Is the war ending? Who won?" Meng Su thought while crossing his legs.
"No rush. I feel the World Furnace hasn't opened yet. If I go out now, I'll have to find my own food. Hmm, it's still more comfortable here."
This silence lasted for two days. At lunch two days later, the food was surprisingly good. The jailer moved a small round table inside, and then servants came one after another to bring dishes. Finally, Meng Su counted them: sixteen dishes on the table, large and small plates, a mix of meat and vegetables, cold appetizers and hot stir-fries, soups and pastries, everything was there. And there was fine wine, too. The bottle was sealed with mud, and a trace of the years was on the bottle; when the mud seal was broken, the fragrance of the wine was enough to make one drunk just by smelling it.
"Holy shit, a last meal? Are they finally going to make a move on me?" Meng Su muttered.
"Sigh, are you guys going to kill me now? I still have unfulfilled wishes, could you send a bird-woman beauty to me?" Meng Su shouted at the servant who was serving the dishes.
The servant remained silent and left after placing the dishes.
"If only it were like this every day, haha," Meng Su picked up his chopsticks, his mouth stuffed with various delicacies, thinking as he drank his wine.
"Life has bitterness and sweetness, good and evil on both sides, all for the tomorrow in our dreams. Watching the iron hooves clatter across the vast mountains and rivers, I stand at the crest of the wind and waves, gripping the rotation of the sun and moon. I wish for peace and happiness in this world of smoke and fire; I really want to live another five hundred years." Meng Su shook his head and sang while eating: "Recently I've been invincible, I feel like life has reached its climax."
Meng Su, high on wine, threw his body heavily onto the bed and fell into a deep sleep.
Before long, a servant cleared away the bowls and chopsticks and removed the table. A black-clad angel stood before Meng Su's bed, frowning as he looked at the snoring Meng Su, cursing secretly: "Glutton, he really is a spoiled brat to the core. Is such a person worthy of being the Demon Son?"
This person was the six-winged angel who had abducted Meng Su last time, but now he had taken human form and hidden his wings. Standing behind him were five or six followers, one of whom wore golden armor, had a tall stature, a cold expression, and eyes like lightning.
The black-clad angel pointed at Meng Su and said to the golden-armored man: "Young Master, look, such a rotten person, how could he possibly be your opponent? I think it's better not to test it."
The golden-armored man frowned and said: "No matter, it's not bad to use him for practice; he's better than a sandbag."
"I'm worried that if you accidentally kill him, Young Master, it would be bad. Although this person is rotten, he is at least the Demon Son of the Blood Demon Sect; keeping him as a bargaining chip will be of great use later," the black-clad angel said.
"Rest assured, I have a sense of measure; I'll leave him with a breath."
