Chapter 1889: Retreat! Retreat! Retreat!

Boom boom boom!

Yao Xi Empress held the Canglan Pearl, her body surrounded by surging four seas, myriad rivers paying homage, the water Dao Resonance on her body immensely vast.

Several divisions of the human army marched straight to the Gu Clan's garrison and attacked.

Shouts rose to the heavens, battle intent sweeping all directions.

The Gu Ancestor's garrison, like stars refined into a single line of sky, had over ten layers of defense.

The foremost defense line, the massive Gu Refining Grand Formation roared, countless heaven-defying Gu creatures shone like divine yang, this formation drew power from the starry sky, unrestrained, completely draining the pond to fish.

Many human strong ones hated this to the bone.

"This was originally the territory of my Canghai Empire!"

"Now this world has become desolate, all because the Gu Clan and Guile Clan madly seized!"

"Kill them!"

Lu Xuan's figure slowly stepped into the depths of the void, his divine sense covering the entire battlefield, secretly observing the situation.

At this moment, he sensed the aura of the human army.

Some warning Gu creatures began to roar.

"Report!"

"Report! General Du led the army to attack our garrison!"

Some commanders entered Xiao A Liang's tent and loudly reported.

Xiao A Liang said calmly, "Very good, the first defense line has been handed over to General Du."

"Ah?"

Some commanders were somewhat shocked.

"Are we going to abandon the first defense line? There are many Gu Refining Grand Formations there, and many strong ones garrisoned."

Xiao A Liang snorted, "How? Do you want me to say it again?"

Hiss!

A blade of divine radiance killing intent descended from the sky.

The commander who had just questioned was directly erased!

His body exploded!

This was Lu Xuan making a move from the heavens above.

Instantly, no one in the field dared to oppose.

Hum!

Xiao A Liang's transmission Gu trembled.

Elder Chen Wang asked, "How is the situation?"

Xiao A Liang truthfully reported.

Elder Chen Wang rejoiced, "Excellent! Marshal Bu Liang, you did great! Not only did you hand over the first defense line to them, but also the second, third, and fourth!"

"The human race has an old saying: 'If heaven wishes to destroy someone, it first makes them mad.' We must let the Great Emperor Canghai find confidence."

Xiao A Liang nodded, "Yes, sir!"

Elder Chen Wang specially ordered, "Anyone who dares to defy Marshal Bu Liang's command will be slain outright!"

The other commanders all dared not speak.

Soon.

On the first defense line.

Yao Xi Empress took the lead, she directly activated the Classic of Supreme Goodness Like Water, the water Dao Resonance on her body rose ethereally, like a fairy, uniting with the Dao.

With a thought of hers, the Canglan Pearl trembled slightly.

"Drip-drop!"

Only a single raindrop fell from it.

But in an instant that raindrop turned into a downpour, falling upon the Gu Clan's garrison.

Those defensive Gu creatures all made a "hiss" sound, their Dao Resonance worn away by the lethal force contained in the rain.

Within dozens of breaths, many Gu creatures began to dim.

Even the operation of the Gu Refining Grand Formation began to stall.

The garrison, originally brilliantly radiant, now resembled many extinguished lamps.

"Kill!"

Yao Xi Empress gently swayed her jade hand and gave the order.

Instantly, many human strong ones rushed into the Gu Clan's garrison to attack.

The Gu Clan strong ones again collapsed, scattering at the first charge.

"Quickly go ask Marshal Bu Liang to act!"

"Can't hold on!"

One after another, Gu Clan bodies kept exploding.

After several hours.

In this garrison, more than half of the Gu Clan were slain, the rest fled, leaving only a battered Gu Refining Grand Formation.

Many human strong ones, with killing intent soaring to the heavens, poured their anger and battle fervor into these Gu Refining Grand Formations.

After resting half a day.

Yao Xi Empress led the troops to continue the slaughter!

One day later.

Gu Clan's second line of defense was breached!

Another day.

The third line of defense was breached!

The army led by Empress Yao Xi had high morale, and their fighting spirit grew stronger and stronger.

Some commanders even shouted, "Crush the Gu Clan's nest!"

Empress Yao Xi and Yang Ling'er were very pleased.

Xiao A Liang was also very pleased; he was basically winning while lying down.

Elder Chen Wang was also very pleased.

This situation can be called a triple win!

Soon, the news of General Du Ying's victorious troops reached the Canghai Imperial Capital.

"Great news! General Du led the charge, leading the army out of the frontier pass, and within days broke through three enemy defensive lines!"

"The rebel commander is injured! He actually couldn't withstand General Du Ying!"

"The danger in the Yue Xuan Star Sea has been resolved!"

In the capital, everyone was extremely excited and stirred.

At that moment, in the imperial hall, the Canghai Great Emperor again summoned many generals and commanders.

"Hahaha! I said it, now is a good time for war!" He looked smugly at Fang Qianshan and Du Rushui below, "Du Rushui, you weren't insisting on 'hold position and not sally forth'? Did you secretly tell General Du to act?"

Du Rushui's face twitched: "I didn't let Du Ying go to battle; on the contrary, I told her to avoid battle."

He now also couldn't figure out what happened.

Traditionally, her daughter Du Ying and he were on the same front.

Therefore, many of his ideas could be carried out.

Moreover, Du Ying has always been steady; she surely knows the situation shouldn't be taken offensively.

What's wrong with this child?

Now everyone outside thinks it was her who let Du Ying go to battle.

"Hahaha! Truly the pillar of my empire, never taking credit for oneself." The Canghai Great Emperor laughed and said.

"Your Majesty, no! No!" Du Rushui said, "I really didn't let Du Ying go to battle."

He produced the secret order from that time to prove his innocence.

The Canghai Great Emperor looked at it, "Oh? Then this is General Du's own decision. Good! Very good! Very much to my liking!"

Du Rushui said, "I think this is the enemy's lure to draw out our forces' reserves. So I believe we must issue a secret order for Du Ying to retreat and continue garrisoning the frontier pass."

The Canghai Great Emperor was dumbfounded.

He almost wanted to personally lead the campaign, but then this old fogey Du Rushui still wants to avoid battle?!

"Your Majesty, I agree with Chancellor Du!"

Fang Qianshan also stepped forward and said.

"You are delaying the war opportunity!" The Canghai Great Emperor's joy faded, turning to anger.

"Please, Your Majesty, reconsider!" Du Rushui said with a solemn expression.

The Canghai Great Emperor snorted coldly, gave no reply, and retreated into the depths of the hall.

He didn't want to argue with these two Confucian scholars.

He couldn't out-argue them.

He chose to shelve the matter.

Anyway, just let Du Ying keep fighting!

But after the Canghai Great Emperor left, Du Rushui immediately issued a retreat order, sending it to his subordinates to the Yue Xuan frontier pass.

Half a day after the order was sent, someone reported it to the Canghai Great Emperor.

"Impudent!"

The Canghai Great Emperor flew into a rage, "Du Rushui, are you rebelling?"

Du Rushui lifted his chin, "Everything is for the empire! Your Majesty can kill me!"

Soon.

The retreat order descended upon the Yue Xuan Star Sea frontier pass.

"Order!"

A large ancient character appeared in the void above.

This is a secret order from the Commander-in-Chief Du Rushui.

"Commander's Order: General Du Ying shall immediately retreat and continue to hold the fort!"

"Retreat! Retreat! Retreat!"

But Empress Yao Xi directly refused to accept the order, "Go tell the Commander-in-Chief: when the general is abroad, he need not obey orders!"
