Chapter 5: Old Bachelor
"You said you still have a brother and a sister; where are they?"
After the two got back into the car, Xiao Ming asked.
"Hehe, those two—I haven't told them yet that I found our biological father, but you'll see them right away."
Wen Yuchun stuck out her tongue like a little imp.
"Okay."
He has now fully digested the news of having three children.
"Is there anywhere you'd like to go? I'll take you there," Xiao Ming asked.
"Hehe, Dad, I want to go shopping," Wen Yuchun said with a giggle.
Forty minutes later.
Xiao Ming had shopping bags full in both hands, looking awkwardly at the little girl walking ahead.
The shopping bags were filled with clothes and shoes that Wen Yuchun bought for him, costing her quite a bit.
"Sorry, Dad, it's all my fault for not finding you sooner; from now on, let us children properly filial to you."
As she spoke, Wen Yuchun suddenly became sentimental.
She looked at her father with tears in her eyes, her gaze filled with deep love for him.
All these years, Dad has remained single—how lonely must he be?
Looking at his clothing, it's extremely plain.
Driving for a big boss sounds impressive, but it's really just a job that requires being on call, and it's very tiring.
She had asked her father where he lived, but he didn't say; presumably, his residence is too shabby to mention.
Otherwise, with his handsome looks and a bit of money, he would have long been off the market.
Old Bachelor.
Nowadays, when women look for a partner, the first thing they consider is money, and Wen Yuchun is well aware of that.
It must be that her father is too poor, which is why no one wants him.
One person, living so lonely.
But from now on, her father has her and her brother and sister; the three siblings won't let him live so lonely anymore.
Wen Yuchun quietly thought to herself: "How did I forget Lin Xiao Xiao? Haha, sis, please forgive me for betraying you for my dad's sake—from now on, you won't be my sister; I want you to be my mother."
"Actually, you've come out ahead—my dad may be a bit older, but he's good-looking."
The more Wen Yuchun thought about it, the happier she became; she linked arms with Xiao Ming, leaned in, and rubbed against him like a cat, her face full of contentment.
Her father's future is now entrusted to her.
"Silly child, your dad can take good care of himself."
Seeing his daughter so filial, Xiao Ming felt greatly relieved.
"I know, I know," Wen Yuchun said, waving her hand dismissively.
"It's time to head home; if I'm late, they'll complain about me again." Wen Yuchun glanced at the time, saw how late it was, and muttered.
"Where do you live? I'll send you back."
Xiao Ming asked.
He still has a daughter and a son he hasn't met; knowing they exist but not seeing them—isn't that going to be the death of him?
He really wants to go see them.
He wants to see the living conditions of his three treasures and what kind of life they lead.
What are those two kids' characters like?
He really wants to go see them.
"Mm, okay."
Wen Yuchun replied happily.
After giving the address, Xiao Ming started the car, and the two talked about the children's pasts as they headed home.
Wen Yuchun lives in the Qinghe Residential Community in Jinyang District.
"Oh, what a coincidence."
Xiao Ming was somewhat surprised.
Qinghe Residential Community is an old housing area in Anjin City, located in a decent spot within the Sixth Ring Road; coincidentally, it was developed and built by the Minghui Group back then.
The Minghui Group is a well-known real estate company in An Jin, wealthy, steady in its affairs, and low-key.
This company is one of Xiao Ming's many companies.
He remembers that the homes in Qinghe Residential Community are quite expensive.
Probably over two million for a full purchase?
"When did you buy it?" Xiao Ming asked.
"No," Wen Yuchun gave a bitter smile: "We three siblings are just renting; the rent alone is enough to give us a headache—where would we get money to buy?"
"Well, the homes there are quite pricey; buying a unit isn't that easy, and you're all still so young," Xiao Ming said casually.
"Indeed, sometimes I think, if I were the child of a wealthy family, how nice that would be."
Wen Yuchun joked: "My mom's out of the picture—she abandoned us long ago; after she left, I wondered if my dad might be wealthy, but he's just too busy to come find us."
"One day, when he runs into us, he'll be overjoyed and hand over all his vast wealth to us siblings..."
Xiao Ming laughed and cried at the same time.
"Hehe, Dad, I was just joking."
At that moment, she cheerfully turned to Xiao Ming: "Even if my dad has no money, it's fine— as long as I've found you."
"What if what you imagined is actually true?"
Xiao Ming muttered softly.
Soon, he drove the car to the Clear Lotus Residential Area, arriving at the bottom of her building.
"Stupid, we're home."
Xiao Ming glanced sideways and couldn't help letting out a light laugh.
The little girl was sleeping sweetly, unaware of what wonderful dream she was having; from time to time she curled the corner of her mouth into a smile, with drool still at the corner of her mouth.
Xiao Ming had meant to wake her, but seeing her cute look, he couldn't bring himself to.
He just sat there beside her, watching and smiling gently.
"Little thing, no wonder you're my daughter—you look this good even while sleeping."
Seeing his daughter asleep made him this happy; moreover, the asleep Wen Yuchun was cute and beautiful.
Xiao Ming felt blissful in his heart.
Not long after, he furrowed his brows.
Because, the originally smiling Wen Yuchun, not knowing what unhappy thing she had dreamed of, saw the smile on her face gradually fade, replaced by a sense of grievance and endurance.
Precious daughter, over these past years without mom and dad, have you been having a hard time?
XiaoMo felt a sudden sharp pain in his chest.
……
At this moment.
In an old-style building in the Clear River Residential Area, inside one of the rooms.
The room basically had no decoration; the only major furniture were a few pieces, but the occupant had decorated it to feel very homely.
Wen Jingrou was on the balcony all along, watching a fashion show video; she would occasionally pause the video to zoom in and closely examine the clothing on a certain model.
Wen Jingrou works as a fashion designer.
However, she was only of mediocre skill, barely able to make a living; the competition in Anjin City is so great that being able to get by like this is already quite satisfying.
The balcony was quiet; only the sound of the video from her tablet could be heard.
After watching for a while, she felt a bit tired and got up to move her shoulders and neck.
This job is quite tiring and doesn't pay much; she has often thought of quitting.
But as the saying goes, changing jobs leaves you poor for half a year; she really doesn't have the luxury to be willful.
"It's already so late; why hasn't Yuchun come yet?"
These past few days, Wen Yuchun has been leaving early and returning late, looking very busy; Wen Jingrou was about to go back inside when she unintentionally glanced downstairs.
Just one glance, and she froze in place.
