Chapter 280

Compared to the chaos of decades past,

at this moment,

this nation, this island, has become lush and flourishing, truly beautiful, prosperous, and peaceful.

This place,

is the hometown of the world's strongest man, Bai Huzi.

And those treasures considered gifts from heaven were actually sent in anonymously by Bai Huzi.

Since Bai Huzi set sail and made a name for himself,

whether on Rokks's ship or reigning over the seas as one of the Four Emperors,

he had always secretly returned his share of the treasures to his hometown.

238. Blackbeard, refusing to give up, ambushes Marshall D. Teach and the remnants of the Whitebeard Pirates!

Bai Huzi, a man of iron, possessed a tender heart.

In his life, what he valued most was family and hometown.

Even though the throne of the Pirate King was within arm's reach,

even though Luo Jie was about to tell him the final location of Laugh Tale,

even after becoming the world's strongest man,

even after possessing the power to destroy the world,

he still remained true to his original intention!

Therefore.

Akainu's remarks during the Summit War, mocking Bai Huzi as a failure, do not hold water.

Bai Huzi simply had no ambition to become the Pirate King.

Otherwise, he, who fought Luo Jie to a standstill during the Peak Period,

would not necessarily have lost to Luo Jie.

This point,

was reflected in their final conversation before Luo Jie voluntarily allowed himself to be captured by the Marines.

It can be said that,

Bai Huzi's entire life was without blemish.

Even until death, there was not a single scar on his back.

The only thing that could be considered somewhat dishonorable was his selfish motive to save Ace, which dragged his entire Whitebeard Pirates into danger.

Apart from that,

Whitebeard made one mistake: leaving behind Blackbeard, a villain who committed every evil and stopped at nothing.

Whitebeard actually noticed Blackbeard's unusual nature very early on.

Back when Blackbeard was just a brat,

the moment they met, he immediately knelt before him, begging to join the Whitebeard Pirates,

Bai Huzi vaguely felt that this little dark-skinned boy with the name bearing the letter D was no simple fellow.

It's just that Blackbeard later hid himself too well within the Whitebeard Pirates.

Like a completely unambitious good old boy, he treated everyone with sincere honesty.

Bai Huzi thus lowered his guard.

Who could have imagined,

that Blackbeard's performance over these decades was all acting, all a disguise!

This caused Bai Huzi to suffer the greatest loss of his life.

And,

not only during his lifetime, but even after death, his corpse was targeted by the villainous Blackbeard.

Blackbeard originally planned to seize the power of the Tremor-Tremor Fruit from Whitebeard during the Summit War.

However, Moria, arranged by Luo Xing, stopped him using the Shadow Mimicry Technique.

Coupled with the Empress's sudden intervention, Blackbeard ultimately failed in his attempt.

Later, Blackbeard suffered several defeats at Law's hands and nearly lost his life in the sea.

Yet he truly was the most patient and ambitious warlord in the World of Pirates.

Even when he had fallen to rock bottom, he still dared to boldly attack the Revolutionary Army headquarters,

capturing Baltigo and establishing it as his base for expanding his forces.

The Blackbeard Pirates began recruiting soldiers and horses on a massive scale, gathering tens of thousands of pirates in the New World who had been driven to desperation by the Beasts Pirates and Big Mom Pirates in a short time,

and was recognized by the World Government as the new Four Emperor replacing Bai Huzi!

Although his bounty as a Four Emperor had just exceeded two billion, still lower than Luo Xing's.

But after all, he already held the title of Four Emperor.

He had finally become a major figure.

Blackbeard was full of ambition.

He deeply understood that,

in order to hold his position firmly against the increasingly aggressive Beasts Pirates,

he must become stronger.

Strong enough to never again fear that detestable Fifth Emperor, Luo Xing!

Strong enough to never have to fear that detestable Fifth Sovereign Luo Xing again!

For this,

he must obtain the power of the Tremor-Tremor Fruit.

This time, there absolutely must be no more mistakes!

Blackbeard left the expansion of Baldigo to Jozu and the others.

He brought the navigator Lafitte and arrived silently at Bai Huzi's hometown.

Gazing at the peaceful and tranquil hidden island before him,

Blackbeard grinned with his toothless, gap-toothed mouth and laughed proudly:

"Zehahaha, this place indeed has not yet been discovered by the Beasts Pirates!"

"Red-Haired Shanks, Ma Erke, and that bunch must have buried Bai Huzi's corpse here!"

Lafitte, holding an umbrella, looked at the surrounding scenery and said:

"Captain, the world's strongest man, Bai Huzi, was actually born here. What an interesting place!"

"Nothing special. It's merely a lawless land thrown into chaos because they couldn't pay the Heavenly Tribute, made what it is now only because of Bai Huzi's relief efforts."

Blackbeard said disdainfully,

"I've long disliked this about Bai Huzi. Instead of using his treasure to build his power, he goes and relieves these useless wastes. What a waste!"

"Enough, Lafitte. Let's hurry and find the tombs of Bai Huzi and Ace!"

"With Bai Huzi's corpse, I will obtain the power of the Tremor-Tremor Fruit!"

"It's a pity Ace was burned by Akainu until only his ashes remained; otherwise, I could have let you possess the Mera Mera Fruit too."

Lafitte said indifferently:

"It doesn't matter if there isn't one. After all, too many people on this Grand Line know fire abilities; the Mera Mera Fruit isn't that special anyway."

"That's true..."

Blackbeard and Lafitte hid their figures

and searched for the tomb in Bai Huzi's hometown.

Not long after, they found it.

After all,

the grave prepared for Bai Huzi by Red-Haired Shanks, Ma Erke, and the others must have been extremely vast.

It was easy to spot.

However,

on the grassland in front of Bai Huzi's grave,

a group of Whitebeard Pirates remnants had gathered.

They were mainly the former commanders of the Whitebeard Pirates' main ship, led by Ma Erke, Jozu, and Flower Sword.
