Chapter 815

The battle went on and on, and Anton felt that the world was nothing more than a nonstop battle against the undead. Team Gorvin was still moving about together with four other teams. He did not know the people on the other teams, and Anton felt like he did not need to know as long as everyone was helping each other fight the undead.

Anton did not even know what time of day it was, if he would only base his timekeeping on looking at the surroundings, since the area’s gloominess did not change and was in constant twilight as if the day was entering evening. The only reason he knew how many days had passed was his access to the internet via his Diablo System.

After three more days, Captain Joraniah was killed in an attack by a powerful Semi-Divine-Rank lich. The attack was almost a surprise, and Anton’s summons failed to protect his captain using their bodies.

The only people left in Team Gorvin were himself, Sudarta, Ishmael, and Aruma. The captain of another team, named Captain Rubar, added them to his team, which was called Team Scythe since his team was also missing four members. Anton and the other members of the team, previously known as Team Gorvin, did not hesitate to join Team Scythe. Before their attack on Nizgeroth started, Captain Joraniah informed them of the different protocols that needed to be followed in case the leaders of teams died.

Anton almost did not care anymore. The only thing left in him was rage, and the desperate hope that they would win the fight. After joining Team Scythe, the fight continued. He finally received information on the status of the attacking army. According to Captain Rubar, half of the archmages had already died. A third of the Supreme Rank wizards had also fallen, and some of the Invincible Rank, Semi-Divine Rank, and Divine Rank wizards also fell, but what Anton truly appreciated was that there was no sign of their side calling for a retreat.

Anton was not afraid for himself. With his prodigious defenses that came from a multitude of active and passive spells that came from eight Diablo II characters and from his character from his Diablo Immortal addon to his system, the large number of powerful items from his Diablo System inside and outside of his game system that bolstered his offensive and defensive power, and his powerful movement ability using his Teleport and Telekinesis spells, bolstered by different spells, made sure that he would survive this war.

A good example was when a Divine Rank lich suddenly attacked them. He was with a couple of other Supreme Rank Wizard and even though the area where he was at was locked by spatial spells cast by the powerful lich, his spells that came from a different magic system was able to bypass the spatial lock and Anton was able to teleport, making him avoid the massive fatal spell that the Divine Rank lich had cast, which caused the deaths of those two wizards from his side.

Anton was also using his summons to block fatal spells since it did not matter if the summons would be destroyed; he could just summon them again. As a matter of fact, his summons saved him and the others several times from powerful spells cast by the undead.

One advantage that Anton had was that the remaining wizards on the five teams that he was part of valued him greatly simply because of his Paladin Auras, which allowed everyone to be almost always at their peak in terms of their energy and stamina. The fact that he was also capable of summoning a large number of powerful summons that never hesitated in using their bodies to block fatal attacks for them made Anton’s contribution truly invaluable.

Those things did not matter to Anton anymore. The only thing that mattered to him was to continue casting his spells and, together with the other wizards, destroy all the undead they would encounter.

After another twenty-four hours of battling with the undead monsters, Sudarta fell. Anton tried his very best to bury any grief that he felt. He needed to function to the best of his ability, so he could bring down all the undead monsters that he encountered, and grief would make his focus stray, and he could not afford something like that.

The original five teams that Team Gorvin had joined still consisted of five teams, but three of the teams were new ones. That meant that all the wizards who were part of the original three teams had died.

Anton saw that the eyes of his wizard compatriots who were fighting the undead looked like they were dead. They all looked like soulless zombies that only functioned to cast spells to destroy the undead, and he knew that he was the same.

Two more days passed, and Ishmael was killed. The only people left in Team Gorvin were he and Aruma. They were also now part of another team since all the wizards from Team Scythe, including its captain, had been killed.

Anton did not make an effort to know the name of the new team that he joined, which he felt was the correct move, since after a few more hours, all the wizards of that team were killed as well, and he and Aruma joined a new team. Anton had long switched his command to all of his summons to prioritize in protecting Aruma and himself. He could not afford to think of the other wizards anymore. He started thinking of them as something ephemeral, like bubbles that would suddenly disappear.

He did not know which part of the Nizgeroth he was in. The only thing left in him was his goal of never stopping casting his spells. Aruma stuck to him like glue. Anton did not know, but Aruma considered him someone who needed to survive since the old wizard considered Anton the amalgamation of Team Gorvin. Aruma had started making Anton’s survival his priority, even to the point that Aruma was willing to sacrifice his life for Anton.

What Aruma did not know was that Anton felt the same. He felt that Aruma was Team Gorvin, and he wanted to make sure that the wizard would survive until the end. That was the reason why he commanded all of his summons to prioritize Aruma’s safety. A few more days had passed, and Anton started to feel that he was reaching his limits despite his Paladin Aura. He remembered that he previously tested how long he could last without sleeping and just surviving using Vigor Aura, and based on the result of that test, the longest time he could continue without sleep was two weeks.

After a few more hours, he told his new captain, whose name he didn’t know, that he needed to sleep. Since the new team needed Anton’s auras so that they could continue fighting at their peak, the five teams decided to stop to rest in a somewhat safe place. They all flew back to a previous place that they had conquered and started creating a safe place using their spells.

The plan was that half of the wizards would sleep and the other half would be guarding, and then they would switch.

Anton only needed to sleep for four hours to achieve full sleep, and after that, he took his turn guarding the place so that other wizards could rest. After their much-needed rest, they continued fighting the undead.
