Chapter 119: Grand Fleet Personnel Selection

~6 min read 1,173 words

After that period, Qin Ge was constantly running around handling various commission tasks. However, opportunities to receive urgent missions like on day one were very rare.

Nevertheless, even in this situation, Weineituo, Ou Gen Qin Wang, and Ling Bo's proficiency kept climbing, much faster than Banrenma and Nengdai had been at that time.

Besides commissions, Qin Ge also had to busy himself preparing two sessions of the Strategy and Tactics Course. Although after printing his strategy and tactics textbook, the number of attendees had noticeably decreased.

Yet this did not hinder him from continuing to accumulate supplies, preparing to work hard for his Grand Fleet plan.

Finally, on the day before vacation, Li Chenming sent Qin Ge a message inviting him to his residence to discuss something.

Upon receiving the message, Qin Ge immediately guessed what it was about, so he summoned Belfast and together they headed to Li Chenming's residence.

Along the way they passed the student dormitory area and arrived outside Li Chenming's residence. Belfast stepped forward first and knocked on the door; after hearing a response from inside, she retreated to stand beside Qin Ge.

When the door opened, Li Chenming's figure appeared in the doorway, and he said to Qin Ge waiting outside, "Qin Ge, you've come—hurry up and come in, everyone's been waiting."

Qin Ge smiled and nodded; upon hearing that everyone had been waiting, he realized his guess was correct. Indeed, after following Li Chenming inside, he saw seven people seated on the living room sofa and stools.

"Come, let me introduce you." Li Chenming was naturally very enthusiastic, speaking to those present and Qin Ge. But just as he was about to introduce them, Qin Ge raised a hand to stop him.

"I already know them all, so no introduction needed." Qin Ge said to Li Chenming and the seven people present.

"Huh? You know all of them?" Li Chenming exclaimed in surprise, after all he knew Qin Ge's personality—when would Qin Ge have gotten to know these people? Moreover, seeing their surprised reactions, it didn't look like they were acquainted either.

Qin Ge smiled and said, "The one on the far left is first-year trainee commander Zhang Xiaotian; his initial shipgirl is Royal Geo Fox."

"The second is also a first-year trainee commander Gu Wei; his initial shipgirl is White Eagle's Sims."

"The third is second-year trainee commander Zhou Leiming; he possesses the shipgirls Blizzard, Jamaica, and Colorado."

"The fourth is first-year student Zhang Yingwei, commander; his initial shipgirl is White Eagle's Erwin."

"The fifth is likewise a second-year trainee commander Chen Bo Jun; his own shipgirls are Firefly, Wichita, and Nevada."

"The sixth is first-year trainee commander Wang Yueqin; her initial shipgirl is White Eagle's Atlanta."

"The seventh is likewise a first-year trainee commander Guo Changming; her initial shipgirl is Sakura Empire's Changning."

"I don't know if I've got all of them right?"

At once, the eight people in the room looked at Qin Ge in astonishment; Li Chenming even more shocked said, "Qin Ge, how do you know them all? Clearly you don't usually talk to people much, do you?"

Qin Ge looked at the few people and said, "Although I don't usually talk much with others, I need to teach you all. Your names are in my roster, and I know exactly where you usually sit.

After all, in this academy there are only about two hundred first-year freshmen at most, and so much time has passed—I couldn't possibly not know you all by now."

"Instructor Qin Ge is really impressive, just by observing our appearances during regular classes he can remember our names and shipgirls." Wang Yueqin exclaimed in surprise.

Qin Ge smiled, "Just treat this as a habit of yours. Although you others already know me fairly well, for our first meeting I'll still give a brief self-introduction.

My name is Qin Ge; I am this year's first-year trainee commander, and also the assistant teacher for the Strategy and Tactics Course. I currently have six shipgirls: Belfast, Banrenma, Nengdai, Ou Gen Qin Wang, Ling Bo, and Weineituo."

Li Chenming speechlessly twitched his lips, "I say Qin Ge, aren't you missing one person? Guanghui?"

"Er." Qin Ge rubbed his nose, "She hasn't joined my fleet yet, so for now she doesn't count."

"Heh, she's a fully leveled shipgirl, you should hurry and secure her, or else you'll end up crying when she runs away." Li Chenming teased.

Qin Ge rolled his eyes, "This sort of thing happens naturally when the time comes; forcing it won't work. Besides, it's about time we got down to business—you summoned me and these seven commanders here; is this about the Grand Fleet?"

Li Chenming glanced at the seven people present, then said to Qin Ge, "Exactly, it's about the Grand Fleet. Ever since you last told me to find people, I've started contacting them.

As for why it took so long to get back to you, it's because many people are unwilling to join us. After all, for them joining a strong military force is far safer than joining ours.

So in the end I scraped together these seven people. Not long after, I called you over."

Qin Ge nodded, turning his gaze to the seven seated people, "Thank you all for trusting me. To not betray that trust and to give everyone a clear understanding of the Grand Fleet I intend to build, I will explain the Grand Fleet's goal and creed.

If you feel this Grand Fleet matches your expectations, we can discuss the details afterward; if not, you are free to withdraw your thoughts at any time."

"Mm, Instructor Qin Ge, please speak." Chen Bo Jun said to Qin Ge.

Qin Ge turned his gaze to Chen Bo Jun, gave a slight nod, and said, "Our Grand Fleet's goal is to become one of the frontline fleets; initially we will be stationed at the nearshore defense line, and once our strength grows we will apply to be deployed to the front line."

"Front line!" Several people immediately couldn't sit still, looking at each other, astonished by Qin Ge's decision.

However, second-year student Zhou Leiming remained very composed, he said to Qin Ge, "Why did Instructor Qin Ge decide to set the Grand Fleet's goal on the front line?"

Qin Ge said to everyone, "I am neither a conservative nor a radical. The reason I set the Grand Fleet's goal on the front line is that the nearshore defense line's Grand Fleets are almost saturated; even if there are vacancies, they are in unimportant positions.

And every Grand Fleet needs to develop; you can imagine that if we became a nearshore Grand Fleet, our own strength would grow very slowly.

If we ever encounter large-scale operations like the Siren Tide, guaranteeing our own safety would become a major problem.

Therefore, the front line is the most suitable place for our Grand Fleet to develop; although it is more dangerous than the nearshore area, it is also more conducive to our Grand Fleet's growth."
