Chapter 14: Yixian in the Cafeteria
After tidying up his room, Qin Ge checked the time; it was already almost seven. Since he had previously noted the cafeteria's opening hours, he wasn't in a hurry.
In front of the cabinet, Qin Ge put on the naval uniform that Fushun had just brought over, then stood before the mirror to tidy his appearance. Seeing the somewhat familiar uniform, he couldn't help chuckling, 'Even if I've come to another world, this kind of clothing still suits me best.'
Qin Ge twisted his torso slightly to make sure his attire was in order, then picked up the key from the side table, hung the assistant teacher's badge on his chest, and left the room heading toward the cafeteria.
Because the cafeteria in the staff residential area was not far, he reached it after walking a short distance. Upon entering, he found only a woman standing at the service counter, while all the other tables and chairs were empty.
"Oh, you must be the Commander Qin Ge that Fushun just mentioned? I am Yixian, very pleased to have you join the Commander Academy." Qin Ge had just approached the service counter when the woman smiled and said to him.
Qin Ge gazed at Yixian introducing herself before him, politely nodding, 'Hello, nice to meet you.' Meanwhile, her information flashed quickly in his mind: the Yixian was a light cruiser built by the Republic of China Navy and the flagship of its First Fleet. The Yixian before him had the appearance of a Jiangnan woman, looking exceedingly gentle.
"Just now when Fushun came to eat, he said you might come later, so I've been waiting here. What would you like to eat?" Yixian said with a smile.
"Can we still order dishes here?" Qin Ge asked in surprise, this treatment is too good, isn't it?
"Normally we can't, but now it's vacation, and everyone at the academy is our own, so we can order dishes." Yixian said with a smile.
"Oh." Qin Ge nodded and told Yixian, "I don't have any particular preferences when it comes to food, so just bring something casual; anything will do."
"Hehe, if that's the case, I'll make you a lotus leaf-wrapped braised pork. How does that sound?" Yixian said with a smile.
"No problem." Qin Ge nodded and immediately sat down at a side table, waiting for Yixian to finish cooking.
There's no denying that the food Yixian made was truly delicious; that was Qin Ge's only thought after eating. Feeling satisfied, Qin Ge returned to his room, picked up his notebook, and recorded the knowledge he had learned today from Fushun and the Prince of Wales…
……
……
The next morning at six o'clock, his punctual biological clock made Qin Ge sit up straight from bed; seeing the faint light outside the window, he quickly got up, tidied his bedding, put on his training uniform, and rushed out of the room.
Running was Qin Ge's daily habit; regardless of wind or rain, he would run five kilometers in the morning. For a period of time in Minghai City, because he had to set up a stall in the morning, he could only run at noon to the library, but he didn't fall behind.
Along the outskirts of the staff residential area, Qin Ge began to run, his light footsteps landing on the morning road, like the pulsing beat of blood vessels—strong and powerful—infusing this quiet morning with a hint of vitality.
After finishing his run, Qin Ge returned to his room, cleaned up, washed up and changed clothes, then headed to the cafeteria for breakfast; everything was just as it had been when he first arrived at the Naval Commander Academy.
"Good morning." As soon as he entered the cafeteria, Qin Ge said to the busy Yixian.
"Good morning, Commander Qin Ge, you're up really early." Yixian said with a smile, "This morning we have buns and soy milk, also bread, pastries, milk—what would you like to eat?"
"Hehe, I'm used to it; buns and soy milk will do." Qin Ge smiled at Yixian.
"All right, please wait a moment." After saying that with a smile, Yixian took several steaming hot buns from the still-steaming basket, scooped a bowl of soy milk from the pot beside her, placed them on a tray, and brought it to Qin Ge.
"Thank you." Qin Ge expressed his thanks, took the tray, and began to wolf down the food; his hearty eating made Yixian laugh outright.
"Take it easy, no one's going to snatch it from you." Yixian smiled.
"Uh..." Qin Ge put down the bun in his hand and couldn't help smiling at Yixian, "I'm used to it."
"I really can't figure out what you used to do—do you really need to get used to eating this fast?" Yixian smiled.
"That's certain, after all, war waits for no one—whether eating or doing anything else, as long as there's an order, you must mobilize, so eating a bit quicker has its advantages." Qin Ge laughed as he said.
"What you say isn't wrong, but right now at the Commander Academy, this is the safest place—no Siren can break through—so there's no need to rush; take your time eating." Yixian smiled.
"That's pretty good… and the buns are delicious!" Qin Ge raised the bun in his hand toward Yixian, smiling broadly.
"Then do as you like." Yixian chuckled, left Qin Ge's spot, and returned to the service counter. Qin Ge, in a few quick bites, finished the buns and soy milk, then washed the plate and utensils at the nearby faucet, putting them back where they belonged. Afterwards, he gave a distant wave to Yixian at the counter and turned to walk out.
"Hehe, what an interesting person." Yixian watched Qin Ge's retreating back and smiled faintly…
After returning to his room, Qin Ge took out the books he had bought in Minghai City and began to read, since the academy's library hadn't opened yet and he couldn't borrow books.
After the clock struck eight, Qin Ge heard a knock on his door; he went to the doorway, opened it, and saw the Prince of Wales smiling and standing at his doorstep.
"Good morning, Dean." Qin Ge greeted the Prince of Wales, then stepped aside to open the door.
"Good morning." The Prince of Wales laughed as he entered, looking at the bright and tidy living room, he smiled and nodded at Qin Ge, "You've kept things quite nice; I'm growing more confident in your future as an assistant teacher."
"Thank you for the praise, Dean. Please have a seat; I'll pour you a cup of water." Qin Ge remained as humble as ever toward the Prince of Wales's commendation, showing no arrogance. He greeted the Prince of Wales to sit, then himself walked toward the water dispenser.
The Prince of Wales hurriedly called out to Qin Ge, who was about to go get water, 'No need to pour water; I didn't come just for a drink. By the way, did Fushun explain the construction situation to you yesterday afternoon?'
"Yes, Fushun gave a very detailed introduction yesterday, and I've fully understood it." Qin Ge turned around, facing the Prince of Wales, and said.
"Then that's good; let's go together to the construction room." The Prince of Wales smiled at Qin Ge, "We'll build your first warship girl."
"Yes!" Qin Ge nodded, and together with the Prince of Wales they left the room and headed toward the construction room.
