Chapter 23: Chapter Twenty-Three: The Four Great Vajras

~6 min read 1,195 words

After bidding farewell to the Prince of Wales, Qin Ge and his two ship girls headed toward the training field; naturally, their purpose was to use the certificate just issued by the Prince of Wales to first borrow fighter jets and anti-aircraft guns for daily training.

The training field is located on the outskirts of the beach; it is the largest training ground in the academy, and all the nearby waters close to the Azure Lane Commander Academy fall within its range. That said, the actually usable area is not very large, because ship girls have no other means against enemies besides their own gunfire.

Furthermore, if the distance is too great, it easily lets the opponent dodge one's gunfire, resulting in near misses or wasted shots. Therefore, most ship girls' training distance is usually around ten kilometers; for aircraft carriers it could be a bit larger, but generally not exceeding twenty kilometers.

The facility nearest to the training field is exactly the training field registration office mentioned earlier by the Prince of Wales. Although training uses only practice rounds, being hit still hurts; if several people train simultaneously, it easily turns into a melee, so usually the next session is held only after the previous one finishes.

Thus a registration office to schedule sessions is needed, so the training field registration office serves this function. The person in charge here is the eldest sister of the Donghuang faction's Anshan-class, Anshan.

"Commander, is this the place?" Banrenma looked at the building before them bearing the training field registration office sign, and said to Qin Ge beside them.

"That's right, this is it." Qin Ge nodded heavily, smiling at Banrenma, "But why is the door closed?"

"Maybe it's because of the holiday, so the training field hasn't been used for a long time, or we should try calling out?" Nengdai said thoughtfully.

"Indeed." Qin Ge nodded, then walked to the door and knocked on the wooden door.

Sure enough, as Nengdai said, someone was inside. When Qin Ge knocked on the wooden door, a very familiar-sounding voice came from within.

"Just a moment......"

"Why does this voice sound familiar to me?" Qin Ge said doubtfully, "Right, I remember now—it's Fushun's voice. Why is she here?"

Just as Qin Ge turned his head to speak to his two ship girls, the wooden door opened, and indeed Fushun, who had previously received Qin Ge, appeared inside.

"Hey, it's Commander Qin Ge! Why did you come running to the training field today?" Fushun asked with a smile upon seeing Qin Ge, and while speaking she glanced at Qin Ge's Banrenma and Nengdai behind him, "Are these the two ship girls you summoned? Amazing!"

"I naturally came because I have something to do, and they are also the ship girls I summoned—one is Royal's Banrenma, the other is Sakura Empire's Nengdai." Qin Ge replied, then asked doubtfully, "Why are you here?"

"It's simple—this is where I live, so of course I'm here." Fushun said matter-of-factly.

"You live here?" Qin Ge doubted, pointing at the nearby sign, "This is clearly the training field registration office, and I heard the Dean say that Anshan is supposed to be here."

"The Dean is correct—this is indeed the training field registration office, and the person in charge here is Elder Sister Anshan; besides Elder Sister Anshan, the other three of us Anshan-class also live here." Fushun said to Qin Ge.

"I thought you lived in the staff area." Qin Ge said, somewhat surprised.

"Originally we should indeed have lived in the staff area, but Elder Sister Anshan likes the atmosphere here, so we all live together with her." Fushun explained, "But you said you came for business—do you want to use the training field?"

Qin Ge nodded, took out from his pocket the certificate given by the Prince of Wales, "But before I use the training field, I still need to hand this over to Anshan."

"A certificate from the Dean? Let me have a look." Fushun said, taking the certificate from Qin Ge's hand and unfolding it to read.

"So, where is Anshan?" Qin Ge wondered.

While Qin Ge was asking his question, Fushun also raised her head; she had finished reading everything on the certificate from the Prince of Wales, "It turns out you're looking for Elder Sister Anshan about ship equipment—she just went to look at the hawthorn tree and should be back soon; please come in first."

"Hawthorn tree?" Qin Ge asked doubtfully, "Does Anshan like hawthorn?"

"Exactly." Fushun, while letting Qin Ge and his ship girls enter the door, explained, "Elder Sister Anshan really likes hawthorn blossoms; every May–June she runs to see the hawthorn flowers, then in July–August she catches bugs on the hawthorn fruit; now it's almost September, so we should soon be able to eat candied haws."

"Hehe, candied haws." Qin Ge involuntarily recalled the song "Candied Hawthorns" from his time on Earth; he hadn't expected to find the same candied haws here as well.

As Qin Ge and his group entered, what they saw was not a living room like an ordinary house, but rather a hall resembling an office; moreover, there was a staircase in the corner connecting to the second floor, so presumably Fushun and the others live upstairs.

While Qin Ge was guessing, a girl in a white naval uniform with black hair came down the stairs; the hairpin on her head bore another number, 104.

"Elder Sister Fushun, has Elder Sister Anshan returned?... Huh, are there guests?"

Fushun turned her head, smiling at the newcomer: "Taiyuan, you've come down? This is the Qin Ge commander I told you about before."

Taiyuan stared, then said to Qin Ge with a look of great surprise: "I thought you were the blockhead Fushun mentioned... ah, no, you're Commander Qin Ge!"

"Um... if I didn't mishear just now, it should be 'blockhead,' right?" Qin Ge speechlessly turned his head to look at Fushun beside him, while behind him Banrenma and Nengdai exchanged a glance and simultaneously nodded—indeed, that's spot on.

Fushun felt no embarrassment at all, instead speaking very energetically: "You originally knew nothing at all—you're exactly like a blockhead!"

Qin Ge thought back on previous events and involuntarily nodded: "Indeed, you're quite a blockhead."

"See, you even admitted it yourself." Fushun said with a laugh, then turned to Taiyuan: "What about Changchun? Is she still asleep? I just woke her up, didn't I?"

"Yeah, Elder Sister Changchun was just woken up by you, Elder Sister Fushun, but seeing you come down she fell asleep again." Taiyuan said to Fushun.

"That shut-in girl just won't budge from her nest—oh well, I won't wake her." Fushun said helplessly, then turned to Qin Ge: "Commander Qin Ge, have a seat here for a moment; Elder Sister Anshan will be back soon. I'll go get the carrier aircraft and anti-aircraft gun ship equipment cores for you."

"Mm, thanks for the trouble, Fushun." Qin Ge nodded and said.

"No problem." Fushun smiled, then looked at Taiyuan: "Taiyuan, pour some tea for Commander Qin Ge and entertain him."

"Mm, Elder Sister Fushun, leave it to me." Taiyuan nodded and said.........
