Chapter 470: New Secretary Ship

~6 min read 1,090 words

After the previous beach outing, everyone's nerves, tense from the Siren Tide, have relaxed a bit.

Moreover, Qin Ge felt that since then, a few destroyers and submarines have taken to clinging to him more often. Although they used to play with him before, they never appeared by his side as frequently as they do now.

Perhaps it's because I was too serious before; although our relationship is good, those girls are always afraid of disturbing my work, so they aren't very proactive, Qin Ge thought.

After getting up this morning and having breakfast, he came to the work area; after all, he's back at the station, so he must take up the duties of the Grand Fleet commander.

He then walked to his office, casually opened the door, and the sight before him made him freeze for a moment, after which he promptly shut the door.

Just as Qin Ge turned to leave, the office door swung open and a figure appeared before him, saying, "Commander, did you see that?"

Qin Ge turned his head toward the figure beside him, smiled, and greeted, "Fearless, are you this week's secretary ship? You came so early today."

The figure appearing at the office door was indeed Fearless; at that moment she blushed and whispered to Qin Ge, "So Commander, did you see everything just now?"

Qin Ge swallowed, then silently nodded.

"Come in." Fearless said, then turned and walked into the office.

Qin Ge stood in the hallway, glanced left and right, then, with a wry smile, followed Fearless into the office.

He casually closed the door, and Qin Ge said to Fearless's back, "Um, sorry."

"……" Fearless turned her head to look at Qin Ge, stared for a long time before saying, "So Commander, just how much did you see?"

Qin Ge raised his fingers to indicate, "A little bit."

"No, you didn't see anything at all, got it?" Fearless said, her face flushed with a hint of threat in her tone.

Qin Ge froze for a moment, then nodded frantically. If he didn't understand such an obvious hint, he'd truly be stupid.

Seeing Qin Ge nod like a chick pecking at grain, Fearless breathed a sigh of relief, then thought of something and said to Qin Ge, "Besides, you're not to tell this to Elder Sister Guanghui."

"Of course." Qin Ge quickly promised, he's not a suicide truck, so he naturally wouldn't blab his own secret for no reason.

"Well, hem…" Fearless's face broke into a smile, "Good morning, Commander. I've placed your emails on the desk; you can now work in peace."

"Um." Qin Ge stared at Fearless's changing expression, dumbfounded; seeing her now so ladylike and elegant, then recalling the scene he'd just witnessed, he felt something was off.

"Okay, okay."

After saying that, Qin Ge quickly walked to his desk, sat down, and began opening envelope after envelope, focusing intently on their contents.

Seeing Qin Ge start to focus on his work, Fearless also let out a breath of relief; it seemed she wasn't as indifferent as she'd previously appeared.

Qin Ge's speed in handling affairs is still fairly quick, after all these are basically daily necessities. Although the station's commander duties are currently being acted upon by Li Chenming, he's been studying this since the end of his first year.

After Qin Ge finished processing the morning's emails and some other matters, he lifted his head, only to find Fearless staring at him unblinkingly.

"What's wrong? Is there something on my face?" Qin Ge asked, puzzled.

"No." Fearless shook her head, "It's just that seeing the Commander get serious looks pretty handsome."

Qin Ge smiled, "Then I'll take this as your praise of me."

"Commander, have you finished work now?" Fearless asked.

Qin Ge nodded, "It's more or less done for now, after all I still need to patrol the harbor later and check the surrounding surveillance facilities. Those procedures still need to be followed; are you asking because you have something else?"

"No, I just saw that you'd finished your morning work, so I wanted to ask if you'd like some tea."

"Tea? Sure." Qin Ge nodded.

"Please wait a moment, Commander." After saying that, Taste turned and walked to the tea table, skillfully poured two cups of tea, and took out two pieces of cake from her ship equipment space.

Looking at the red tea and cake placed before him, Qin Ge exclaimed, "Where did you get the cake?"

"From Belfast," she said, "she was making cakes for a few destroyers earlier, so I asked for some to serve as dessert with the tea."

Qin Ge nodded; indeed, Belfast occasionally makes cakes for the destroyers.

"That said, it's impressive that the Commander can unite so many ships from different factions; he really has a broad mind."

Qin Ge smiled, "Aren't other commanders like that? I'm not especially unique; I think the factions only differ in ideology, but their goals are the same—otherwise they wouldn't have formed Azure Lane."

"That's right." Fearless nodded, "I have a question; I don't know if the Commander can answer it."

Qin Ge set down the tea cup after a sip, and said to Fearless, "Go ahead; I'll answer anything I know."

"How did the Commander initially get Elder Sister Guanghui? No, I mean, how did he get Elder Sister Guanghui to join our fleet?" Fearless asked curiously.

"Why are you asking that?" Qin Ge wondered.

"I heard it from Luodenni, but when I asked her the reason, even she wasn't clear, so I can only ask the Commander."

Qin Ge smiled, "Why not just ask your sister directly? I'm sure she'd know perfectly well—after all, she's the one involved."

Fearless shook her head, "Even if I asked my sister, she'd certainly not tell me, so I might as well ask the Commander directly."

Qin Ge wondered, "It's not exactly embarrassing, so why wouldn't she tell you?"

"But compared to my sister, I'd rather ask the Commander directly," Fearless said to Qin Ge.

Qin Ge smiled, "All right then, I'll tell you."

"Mm-hmm." Fearless said, interested.

A glint of memory flashed in Qin Ge's eyes, "Back when I'd just entered the Commander Academy not long ago, I felt my fleet was developing much better than some others', since I already had six shipgirls, so I requested a commission mission from Prince of Wales."

Prince of Wales agreed, but as a condition she sent a free shipgirl to accompany me and guarantee my safety—that person is your elder sister.

"……"
