Chapter 497: Chu Jiu
When Qin Ge opened his eyes, he found the outside sky still dull and overcast, and the rain was getting heavier.
He turned sideways, only to discover that Xinong had at some point curled up entirely in his arms, her tail having likewise come to rest on his leg, and she was sleeping soundly with her eyes half-closed.
At that moment his mind held no other thoughts; it was entirely occupied by the conversation he had with another Xinong in that dream space.
Just what identity did that Xinong have? What exactly was meant by the 'Son of Heaven'? Moreover, listening to that Xinong say, her commander seemed also to be a Son of Heaven.
Could it be that time travelers are the Sons of Heaven? Is her commander also a time traveler?
But in this world, aside from himself, the Sirens and the fleet girls are all transmigrants; could it be that the Sirens and fleet girls are also Sons of Heaven?
Impossible.
Qin Ge shook his head; he suddenly realized how many things he didn't know. Moreover, that Xinong was clearly not a fleet girl of this world, yet she acted as if she recognized him, or had heard of him.
"Sigh..." Qin Ge slapped his forehead, feeling a sudden surge of vexation and confusion.
Perhaps this sound startled the Xinong beside him; she slowly opened her eyes, looking at Qin Ge beside her with doubt and a hint of haze.
"Commander, could it be that my sleeping here has caused you trouble?"
A soft voice sounded, causing the somewhat headache-prone Qin Ge to look toward his side, only to see Xinong gazing at him, her eyes full of doubt.
"No." Qin Ge hastily shook his head. "I just saw you—no, I should say I saw another Xinong."
"Another me?" Xinong said, slightly surprised.
"Yes." Qin Ge immediately perked up and related everything that had happened to Xinong in one go.
"In the dream space, that other Xinong said you are a Son of Heaven? And she also has a commander, who, like you, is likewise a Son of Heaven?" Xinong said, looking at Qin Ge.
"Yes, that's what she said." Qin Ge nodded. "It is beyond doubt that besides this world there are other worlds; after all, to the Sirens this world is merely one of their experimental sites."
"So they should be people from another world? But why would I enter her dream space?"
"I feel that Xinong has already grasped the power of fate. Earlier she said you possess the power of the Son of Heaven, which is actually just the power of fate, so she could use her own strength to seek out the same Son-of-Heaven power as her commander, and that is why you, Commander, entered her dream world." Xinong said.
"Then will it affect us?" Qin Ge asked.
"Probably not; at the very least her attitude toward you is not hostile, and her speech is measured."
"Moreover, didn't she say that when the time comes her commander will tell you everything? We can only prepare in advance before they arrive." Xinong said.
Qin Ge sighed, "I always feel we are in a dire situation surrounded on all sides; after this Siren Tide passes, we must expand our fleet's strength, for we are still too weak."
Xinong reached out and took Qin Ge's hand, "Commander, you must never let trifling matters cloud your vision; you are the one who, together with me, will break the power of fate, and you are the soul of our fleet."
"No matter what happens, I and the members of our fleet will stand behind you."
"I understand." Qin Ge nodded.
Xinong's words dispelled his doubts, but what he had just experienced was truly beyond belief, so Qin Ge still buried it deep in his heart.
By noon the rain outside showed no sign of stopping, so Qin Ge did not rush to the Jade Grand Fleet; instead, as yesterday, he gathered all the fleet girls in his room to chat with them.
Aside from the lively Prince Heinrich, who seemed a bit listless because of the rain, the other fleet girls had nowhere urgent to be.
Being able to spend time with Qin Ge, chatting over tea like this, is far better than fighting on the battlefield.
Thus these past few days everyone has been quite content, for when stationed there they never had such leisurely moments as now.
Of course, Pennsylvania also gave Qin Ge the contact information for the commander of the Jade Grand Fleet, and Qin Ge reached that fleet commander via communicator.
Her name is Chu Jiu, a female commander.
Upon hearing this, Qin Ge was momentarily startled, then couldn't help but smile; indeed, women are not to be outdone by men.
Thinking of his own fleet's Wang Yueqin, her mind is more meticulous, her rapport with the fleet girls under him is excellent, her grasp of tactics is also very good, and in the Star Sea Grand Fleet her strength ranks in the upper-middle tier.
Thus Qin Ge has always respected female commanders, for they can overcome their own physiological discomfort and bravely enter this battlefield akin to a meat grinder, which makes them far stronger than ordinary men.
Thus when Qin Ge spoke with this Chu Jiu on the communicator, he was very courteous.
"Hello, may I ask if you are Commander Chu Jiu of the Jade Grand Fleet?"
From the other end of the communicator came a gentle yet firm voice: "Hello, may I ask who you are?"
"I am Commander Qin Ge of the Star Sea Grand Fleet." Qin Ge said.
"Hold on, Commander Qin Ge of the Star Sea Grand Fleet, are you the Qin Ge Instructor from the Commander Academy back then?" Chu Jiu's voice grew somewhat excited.
"Um, yes." Qin Ge involuntarily rubbed his nose; he hadn't expected that after giving his name, this Commander Chu Jiu would become so excited.
"Instructor Qin Ge, I'm your fan! I've read all of your textbooks, and I once had the fortune to attend a lecture at the Commander Academy, though back then there were many people and you probably didn't see me." Chu Jiu said, "I don't know what business Instructor Qin Ge has in contacting us today; if you need help, just say the word."
Hearing Chu Jiu's enthusiastic voice over the communicator, Qin Ge felt a bit embarrassed for a moment: "Cough, thank you for liking my lessons. The reason for this communication is your fleet's Commander Xu Xin."
"Xu Xin? What happened to him?" Chu Jiu asked, somewhat puzzled.
"He is actually an old acquaintance of mine, and I have now arrived in Minghai City; however, since it's raining heavily here, I plan to visit your Jade Grand Fleet when the weather clears." Qin Ge said to Chu Jiu.
"I see, then we warmly welcome Instructor Qin Ge's visit for guidance." Chu Jiu laughed.
Qin Ge smiled, "It's not really guidance, but before that I just wanted to greet Commander Chu Jiu; for the time being don't send Xu Xin on patrol, lest we run into each other when I arrive.
Moreover, don't tell him about my plans for now; I'd like to surprise him."
"No problem!"
