Chapter 531: Siren Outpost

~6 min read 1,177 words

Morning sunlight streamed through the window, filling the entire room. Qin Ge woke up in a daze, feeling as if something was pressing on his chest.

He let out a sigh, then turned his head to the side. He saw Xinong tightly hugging him, her face buried in his chest, sleeping soundly.

This situation had obviously happened many times before; ever since that time he went to find Xu Xin, Xinong would occasionally come to his room and then they would squeeze under the same blanket to sleep.

Originally, Qin Ge had been somewhat bothered by this. After all, Xinong was a girl, and he himself was a vigorous young man; if two people slept together for a long time, problems would surely arise.

So each time they slept, it was a test; Xinong didn't feel it, but Qin Ge found it especially obvious.

Especially since Xinong's figure was also excellent, and her personality was rather soft and dreamy; even if Qin Ge made a move on her, she would not object.

But in the end Qin Ge still restrained himself; when he asked why, Xinong replied that sleeping beside him was the most peaceful, leaving Qin Ge helpless, and thus things became as they are now.

Every night, as soon as he fell asleep, Xinong would appear by his side the next morning.

So Qin Ge poked Xinong's cheek and said, "You're up, it's morning already and you're still sleeping."

Feeling Qin Ge's movement, Xinong slowly woke up, though her eyes still looked a bit dreamy and lazy, "Good morning."

"I remember I slept very late last night, and when Emperor Frederick left, I still remembered I had closed the door—how did you get here?"

Qin Ge said with a puzzled expression, "Yesterday I chatted with Emperor Frederick in the room for a long time, discussing plans for the port area after this, as well as some daily matters."

So when Emperor Frederick left, it was already very late; he hadn't expected that even at that hour, the next morning he could still see the sleepy Xinong running over to him.

Could it be that Xinong has been waiting for him to fall asleep?

"I, having long been entangled by fate, also possess some such power; sensing that you have fallen asleep, I came over." Xinong said softly.

Qin Ge rolled his eyes, "So do you know exactly who is asleep in our garrison at any given time?"

"Yes." Xinong nodded.

Qin Ge felt dazed, gave a dry laugh after a moment, then got up.

On the bedside table beside him lay the clothes he had changed into yesterday; clearly the maid corps had come this morning and laid them out for him.

According to the personalities of everyone in the maid corps, Qin Ge could easily guess who it was this morning.

After all, if it were Belfast, she would surely stand respectfully by his bedside waiting for him to wake up; or she might add a Tianlangxing, but she would not stand by his bedside—instead she would lie by the bedside staring at him.

So the most likely candidates were He Min, Duoduo, or Kalubudisi.

After changing clothes, Qin Ge began his morning run; after eating, he headed to the office.

Saint Louis arrived as usual on time, and placed today's new email on Qin Ge's desk.

In the morning nothing happened; Qin Ge as usual sorted the emails and some task records, and wrote reports to the Maritime Affairs Bureau.

However, today Saint Louis spent much less time chatting with Qin Ge; she merely stood to the side, smiling as she watched him work.

This made Qin Ge curious: "Saint Louis, why do you have so little to say this morning? Could there be something on your mind?"

"No." Saint Louis smiled, "Just because when two people talk, it disturbs the commander's work rhythm, so finishing today's tasks would be pushed back."

"So in order to make the afternoon appointment earlier, I'll save our talk for this afternoon together."

Qin Ge was speechless: "Actually, even if we chat a bit in the morning, it wouldn't matter. Today there's little to do, so I estimate we'll finish around the same time as yesterday."

"It's fine; the commander can attend to his own business. I'll stand here watching him work, and that will feel interesting." Saint Louis smiled.

"Alright, then as you wish." Qin Ge immediately smiled and said.

But sometimes changes come faster than plans; just as noon approached and it was almost time to finish work and eat, Hai Lun Na and the others returned, though not as a complete team.

After receiving the port's information, Qin Ge immediately took Saint Louis and rushed to the harbor dock.

At that moment, among the fleet, several capital ships and light cruisers, as well as Hai Lun Na, were absent; only Cleveland had brought Fräulein and the others back.

"Cleveland, why are only you guys back? What happened? Where are Hai Lun Na and the others?" Qin Ge asked anxiously.

"Commander, don't worry; Hai Lun Na and Independence are still at sea, and I brought Fräulein and the others back to deliver news to everyone in the port area." Cleveland said.

"So what happened?" Qin Ge frowned and asked.

"We discovered a Siren outpost about a hundred nautical miles from the port area." Cleveland told Qin Ge.

"A Siren outpost?" Qin Ge exchanged a startled glance with Saint Louis, "Isn't a Siren outpost supposed to appear only in sea areas above level five? How could one appear in our waters?"

"I'm not sure either; during previous patrols we hadn't detected that Siren outpost, but after conducting this forward reconnaissance, we found its existence."

Furthermore, Hai Lun Na detected via radar that the outpost actually housed a fleet equivalent to a fully trained shipgirl fleet, and there were several elite executioner units; with our scouting forces we could not destroy that Siren fleet.

So we left the main force fleet and Hai Lun Na there to continue monitoring, while I brought a few destroyers back to report to the commander.

"A fully trained Siren fleet?" Qin Ge's brows furrowed tighter, "Is Hai Lun Na's judgment accurate? One must know that a Siren fleet reaching that level of training appears only in the corroded level-six sea areas."

"I can guarantee it, because Hai Lun Na has been fully trained for a long time; she feels that the aura emitted by those Sirens is similar to hers." Cleveland affirmed.

Qin Ge nodded, then turned to Saint Louis: "It looks like our plans for this afternoon will have to be postponed; sorry, Saint Louis, please notify the leaders of each faction, then we'll gather in the meeting room."

"No problem, commander; matters of importance come first, so I'll go notify them now." Saint Louis said with a smile.

Qin Ge nodded, then looked at Cleveland's group: "Fräulein, take your sisters to rest first and get something to eat. Cleveland, you come with me to the meeting room."

"Yes, commander!"
