Chapter 574: The Commander Who Digs Tunnels?
After completing the material handover with Mingshi, the construction proceeded as scheduled.
While watching the cute little chubby creature easily carry those beams and similar large materials and set them up, Qin Song gained a new realization about the fantastical degree of this world.
However, the shipgirls felt nothing at all, just finding it somewhat novel. Since they themselves are possessors of Wisdom Cube energy, they clearly know how powerful the energy within their bodies is.
As the chubby creature likewise driven by Wisdom Cube energy, being able to use such great power naturally makes sense.
"I suddenly realized that Hu Feng was right back then." Guanghui smiled, saying, "With the help of the chubby creatures, all we can do is protect them well and then just watch them work."
Qin Song chuckled, "After all, we aren't professionals in construction. In short, let them repair the harbor as soon as possible so our ships can dock at the pier, which will be much more convenient."
"Commander, shouldn't we first have the chubby creatures build a temporary shelter?" Xin ze xi asked from the side.
Qin Song shook his head, "We'll temporarily stay on the Command Ship, taking turns guarding the chubby creatures, so there will be enough room to sleep."
"Eh, I always feel sleeping on the Command Ship isn't as comfortable as on land." Weineito said somewhat disappointedly.
Qin Song was speechless; a battleship actually saying that being on the ship is less comfortable than on land—what is this?
"It's fine; we can build a temporary shelter ourselves, no need for the chubby creatures' help, after all our hands-on skills aren't bad, right?" Xin ze xi said excitedly.
"Can I use sand?" Weineito said excitedly.
"Sand isn't very sturdy, but it's not bad for making the ground."
"Eh, only for the ground? I also wanted to pile sand into an arena."
"..."
Seeing more and more shipgirls joining Weineito and Xin ze xi's conversation, Qin Song unconsciously rubbed his forehead, turned to Bisimai and said, "Let them build a temporary shelter here; we'll go deep into the island to see if anyone is still here."
"No problem, but what about your commander's uniform?" Bisimai said to Qin Song.
Qin Song looked down at his commander's uniform and leather shoes, then smiled at Belfast, saying, "Belfast has my clothes with her, so I can just find a deserted spot later to change."
"Alright, I just saw a road over there; let's head that way, after all a road proves someone has passed through." Bisimai said.
"Okay."
After saying something to the other shipgirls preparing to build the temporary shelter, Qin Song took Belfast, Bisimai, and Guanghui toward the island's interior.
Several carrier aircraft took off from Guanghui's ship equipment, flying toward high altitude; their presence also meant Qin Song's group took far fewer detours. Not long after, the carrier aircraft brought back signs of human habitation.
Following the direction scouted by the carrier aircraft, after walking a stretch the three discovered a relatively flat area. A few stone-built houses stood not far away, and in front of the houses was a piece of cultivated land where some unnamed fruits and vegetables that Qin Song couldn't name were planted.
The four exchanged glances, and Qin Song said, "Someone lives here, but why did they avoid us after seeing our carrier aircraft?"
"Perhaps they mistook our carrier aircraft for the Sirens' carrier aircraft?" Bisimai said, looking around.
"How could that be? Don't they even recognize what a carrier aircraft looks like?" Qin Song wondered.
Bisimai shook his head and explained, "They probably don't want the Sirens' carrier aircraft to discover their presence, so as soon as they heard the carrier aircraft's sound, they began to avoid it."
"As for what the carrier aircraft looks like, they might not have even glanced at it, but this is just my guess; after we search around here a bit, we should pretty much know."
Qin Song nodded, "What you said is not wrong; usually if they start avoiding upon hearing the carrier aircraft's engine sound, they indeed won't be discovered by the carrier aircraft, but at the same time they also won't discover what kind of carrier aircraft it is."
"Then let's search here; I'm sure we'll make some great discovery." Guanghui smiled.
"Mm."
Immediately, several people began searching here.
As they explored, several people discovered some very modern items here, and according to Qin Song's judgment, these items were likely dismantled from the Command Ship.
Soon, the meticulous Bisimai on the other side found something abnormal in a room.
"Commander, look here." Bisimai said, pointing to a covering board on the ground.
Qin Song exclaimed in surprise, "A tunnel?"
"Hmm, or perhaps an air raid shelter?" Bisimai said to Qin Song, then reached out and pulled open the wooden board on the ground.
What entered the four's eyes was a pitch-black passage, and this passage sloped downward.
Qin Song immediately turned to Guanghui, "Guanghui, release a carrier aircraft into it to see where this tunnel leads, or whether it's just an air raid shelter, and check if anyone is underground."
"Yes, Commander." Guanghui quickly nodded and flicked her hand, and a small carrier aircraft appeared around her.
After the carrier aircraft flew a circle around her, it flew into the dark tunnel. Upon entering the dark place, the lights on the carrier aircraft switched on immediately, and the tunnel instantly became as bright as daylight.
Soon the carrier aircraft disappeared into the tunnel, while Guanghui closed her eyes, evidently concentrating on controlling that aircraft.
Not long after, Guanghui opened her eyes, but the carrier aircraft did not appear at the tunnel entrance.
"Commander, this tunnel leads directly to the forested area behind; there is a cave there, and my airborne radar detected signs of life." Guanghui said to Qin Song.
"I'm currently having the carrier aircraft monitor there to prevent those life signs from escaping, so we can go overland directly."
Upon hearing that, Qin Song couldn't help but smile, "Alright, let's hurry over; I actually want to meet this commander who can dig tunnels."
The other few shipgirls also smiled faintly, obviously curious as well. How could a commander end up reduced to digging tunnels on a deserted island—what exactly happened?
Again, several people walked out of the room and began heading toward the position marked by the carrier aircraft. Indeed, beside the small house there was a foot-worn path, winding its way toward the forested area beyond the stone houses.
After proceeding for about ten to twenty minutes, with a wave of Guanghui's hand, a small carrier aircraft fluttered out from the dense woods along the way.
Obviously it is the Carrier Aircraft that Guanghui launched earlier, and since Guanghui is retrieving it here, that also means everyone is already very close to the destination.
