Chapter 708: Setting Out Again
Do we no longer need to send people to follow you?
At the harbor, Tierbici asked everyone; although her eyes were very calm, her worry could still be felt.
This resupply operation involves the major fronts' campaign to annihilate the Siren outposts; it's impossible not to worry.
"No need, our squad's strength is sufficient; plus, the Siren outposts along our previous route have been destroyed, making this path relatively safe. Even if we encounter a Siren fleet, we can handle it calmly." Scharnhorst said.
"But I'm still worried; let a few destroyers and submarines escort you. When you need to receive supplies, leaving extra supply ships abandoned at sea isn't good, so just have them return." Tierbici said.
"That works; destroyers and submarines can scout and detect without revealing too many signals." Scharnhorst nodded, then turned to Peter Strasse and asked, "What do you think?"
"It doesn't matter; as long as the supplies are delivered safely, you can decide who to send." Peter Strasse said.
"Alright, let the Z Destroyer and U-boat squads follow us." Scharnhorst said.
"Um, I'll contact them now; you can set off. Their speed should be greater than yours, so they'll catch up quickly." Tierbici said.
"Alright, we're setting off." Scharnhorst saluted Tierbici, then turned and followed Peter Strasse and the others toward the docked transport ship.
There are two transport ships, much larger than a command ship. Beside them is also an oil tanker carrying fuel.
Peter Strasse, Scharnhorst, and Bumblebee boarded the ship, while Baltimore, Prince Heinrich, and others patrolled around the transport ship. As the whistle sounded, everyone slowly left the harbor.
"Still worried?" Hipper asked Tierbici, who remained on the shore.
"Yes." Tierbici said bluntly, not bothering with pleasantries, as if such things didn't exist for her.
"But Scharnhorst said the progress was very smooth, and indeed the Siren fleets along the Iron Blood coast have diminished."
"Now we don't need our Awakened Shipgirls to support; the commanders of the grand fleets can resist on their own." Hipper said.
"No, that's not it." Tierbici shook her head. "Perhaps Scharnhorst hasn't fully explained it to you; so far they've only been clearing Siren outposts in the Siren Sea, and the real difficulty hasn't arrived yet."
"What is the real difficulty? Could it be something even stronger than the Siren fleets that come like a tide?" Hipper asked.
"Yes, and I believe they will appear soon. If we defeat them, our world might return to peace; if we fail, it could plunge into destruction." Tierbici said.
"What do you mean? The world heading toward destruction? Isn't the Siren Tide already under control? Since we Iron Blood are like this, surely the other major factions will soon end this Siren Tide as well." Hipper wondered.
"Now the Sirens have introduced a unit called the Arbiter, which is their true combat force, whereas the Testers we've fought before are merely experimental personnel."
"And in the depths of the Atlantic Ocean, there are at least two such entities; now you understand why I'm still worried, right?" Tierbici said.
"Arbiter?" Hipper exclaimed. "If such a powerful unit exists, we should definitely send people to join the fight. If we fail, won't the world be destroyed?"
"The key is that the Arbiter's strength cannot be changed by numbers. Especially since Iron Blood hasn't returned to its former peace and still needs rebuilding, we can only hope for now." Tierbici said coldly.
"Oh."
Meanwhile, the transport ship had just left the outer waters of the Commander Academy's harbor when Baltimore and the others spotted a few figures in the channel. Judging by their appearance, they seemed to have been waiting especially for us, and had only just arrived.
However, seeing their signature cross uniforms and the faint aura about them, Baltimore and the others could guess who they were.
Sure enough, after seeing them, Scharnhorst jumped down from the ship, landing on the sea and quickly approaching.
"Z1? I didn't expect Tierbici to have sent you over." Scharnhorst said to the newcomers.
"Of course, I'm the invincible Lord Z1. With me and my sisters around, Scharnhorst, you can relax." Z1 laughed.
"And our wolf pack isn't to be taken lightly either." U81 also laughed.
Scharnhorst nodded. "Then you'll follow Baltimore and Heinrich and the others; they'll tell you what's going on."
Along this route, it could be calm, or we might encounter strong enemies; you'd better prepare.
"I know, don't worry—with the invincible Lord Z1 here, we will surely achieve our goal." Z1 said via the channel.
"Hehe, then that's it; we'll continue setting out." Scharnhorst said, then turned and reboarded the ship.
Baltimore nodded at Z1 and the others. "You guys just scout ahead, stay in contact, and I'll give you the correct direction."
"Understood." Z1 and the others nodded, then without hesitation turned and spread out in a fan formation, gliding toward the distance with Z2 and the others.
Without stopping, everyone continued forward.
Inside a massive outpost deep in the Siren Sea of the Atlantic Ocean.
The Observer looked at the screen showing the transport convoy and couldn't help but smile faintly. "Should we send someone to sabotage it?"
"We don't need to get involved, right? This is a grudge between the Arbiter and the Embers; let them settle it themselves. We can just carry out the tide as planned, or at most let a few ambush fleets suddenly appear there." The Testers said to the Observer.
"That's true; if the supply disruption suddenly changes the situation, the performance would lose much of its excitement." The Observer smiled. "So let's send a few fleets to harass them—we can't let them have an easy ride, or where would we save face?"
"No problem." The Tester nodded and casually tapped a few times on the screen in front of them.
"It's been set up successfully; although it won't pose much threat to them, delaying them a bit is doable."
"Well, then we just wait and watch the show."
