Chapter 790: Office
A few days have passed since the summoning, and I don't know why, but at the last moment Qin Ge gave up the idea of continuing to summon.
It felt as if some unknown will told me that further summoning would be pointless, so I should conserve the Cube and supplies for other uses.
"Commander, these are today's documents; please review them." Early in the morning, upon arriving at the office, Qin Ge saw Xin ze xi holding a stack of documents, seeking his approval.
"No problem, just place it on my desk, but you've been coming really early these days." Qin Ge said.
"It's rare to have a chance to be alone with the Commander, so I naturally should come earlier." Xin ze xi said openly.
"Eh, can't we go on a date after work each day?" Qin Ge was speechless; these past two days, after finishing work, Xin ze xi kept dragging him out on dates. Although Guandao has hardly anyone, the scenery is indeed nice.
"Of course it's not enough; I want more time to be with the Commander. Don't you look forward to it?" Xin ze xi laughed.
"I do look forward to it, but won't this interfere with your matters?" Qin Ge asked.
"No worries, I've set aside plenty of time to handle my own affairs, so Commander, don't worry. When we're together, just keep looking at me — after all, Commander, you like this, right? Hehe." Xin ze xi laughed.
Qin Ge shrugged, sat down, and opened the document he had just set down.
"Spring Festival supplies list, huh? Is this what Zhenhai and the others sent up? Given the timing, it's not early; is the stocking a bit rushed?" Qin Ge said while giving approval.
"I heard Zhenhai say they plan to have Mingshi handle the procurement directly, and we'll take the goods from there, so we still have plenty of time." Xin ze xi said.
"Tsk, buying from those merchants might be pricier than outside, but once you factor in shipping, it's about the same." Qin Ge clicked his tongue, finished reviewing, then opened the next document.
"The Barbarian Chick logistics teams have been successfully established, assigned by the Logistics Department chief, the Kitchen Goddess; they plan to set up ten squads, each with fifty Barbarian Chicks..." Qin Ge stared for a moment, then said, "Ten squads total five hundred Barbarian Chicks — do we have that many cores?"
"We do — remember we swept across the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans; if it weren't for some cores taken by Iron Blood, this number could have been even higher." Xin ze xi said.
"Alright, compared to having more Barbarian Chicks, our research still comes first." Qin Ge nodded, giving approval as he spoke.
He opened the third document, which was far more interesting.
"Human-shaped Siren traces have been spotted at sea, possibly Purifiers?" Qin Ge rolled his eyes. "So, now that the Siren Tide has ended, the Purifiers want to come to our harbor again?"
"According to Yujin and her group, the Purifiers' experimental agency and the Arbitrators' arbitration agency belong to two different departments; perhaps we could learn something through her?" Xin ze xi asked.
"Let's set that aside for now; judging by the Purifiers' appearance, they seem to be loitering near our harbor, not minding that we've spotted them, perhaps because Yujin is here?" Qin Ge thought, then said, "Otherwise, let's have the recent patrol teams watch the sea; if they spot a Purifier, we'll invite her to the harbor."
"That works; at least we're inviting her in ourselves, so Yujin and her group shouldn't get overly involved." Xin ze xi nodded.
"Then let's proceed with that purpose." Qin Ge quickly gave approval, and separated this dossier from the others.
"Oh, this dossier came from the Kitchen Goddess; she said Mingshi's steel has been fully collected, currently being transferred, and asks whether we need a dedicated warehouse for storing the steel." Qin Ge said with a smile.
"What do you think, Commander?" Xin ze xi asked.
"Of course we need it; the steel's storage area is still quite large, and although we still have some spare warehouse space, a dedicated warehouse is still very necessary."
"Isn't it just as we said before — that a squad of Barbarian Chicks has already completed its training? Let them handle the construction; we'll place it at the rear of the warehouse, and build a few extra-large warehouses as well." Qin Ge said.
"Hmm."
"Next, we have a document from Bisimai; it seems their research has made some progress." Qin Ge exclaimed, "The mass-produced models have been upgraded to the second generation, and since supplies and cores are relatively abundant, they're asking how many fleets I need."
"Actually, we feel our current strength is enough that we don't need to iterate the mass-produced models further; her help to us is minimal." Xin ze xi said.
Qin Ge shook his head: "No, you're talking about our fleet, but not our harbor. If people like Li Chenming had the support of a mass-produced fleet, they'd have a much better chance against stronger enemies, so developing and building mass-produced models is still very necessary."
"Moreover, once you all convert into warships, each mission squad won't remain as a dozen or so people as before; they'll become more streamlined, and if fire support is needed then, mass-produced models would be an excellent choice."
"What the Commander says is also true; then, how many fleets should we prepare to build?" Xin ze xi thought for a moment and said in agreement.
Qin Ge frowned: "As many as possible — we can start with manual construction, and once we have enough Barbarian Chicks, we can have them join the building effort. That would free up manpower for other research and construction."
After approving that document, Qin Ge immediately opened the next one: "Donghuang and Sakura Empire have sent a telegram, congratulating us on our smooth return to the harbor, giving us time to go to theirs to attend the victory banquet…"
"Hehe, Commander, this is a chance to collect the merit medals of the Nine Major Factions; don't miss it, okay?" Xin ze xi laughed from beside him.
Qin Ge chuckled and shook his head: "These are just empty titles; besides, does our harbor even need others' recognition? As long as we're strong, others' gazes toward you will never look down on you."
"However, since Donghuang and Sakura Empire have already invited us, not going would be too rude; moreover, Donghuang is where I started out, and the two Faction Leaders of Sakura Empire have come to my fleet, so we really can't skip it."
"We'll respond to them, setting the time for after the New Year; we definitely can't go before the New Year. Then we'll first go to Donghuang, then to Sakura Empire, stay a few extra days in each, and afterwards depart from Sakura Empire to the Northern Union, just to see what's in the secret chamber."
"Understood; next I'll have the Communications Department staff reply to those two factions." Xin ze xi said.
"Thank you for your hard work." Qin Ge smiled.
"Compared to you, Commander, I don't feel the slightest bit of hardship. By the way, Commander, when have you decided to carry out the warship refit?" Xin ze xi asked.
"After the New Year, so we should delay replying to Sakura Empire and Donghuang as much as possible, aiming for late March to early April; by then everything can be adjusted." Qin Ge said.
Understood!
