Chapter 892: Catch a Cold
Gangqu's time gradually deepened into autumn, but for those on Guandao, deep autumn and summer were hardly different—perhaps the whole year felt much the same.
However, during this period it rained relatively more, so basically little time was spent outside. Most of the shipgirls either stayed in their rooms or were in the Academy, and of course the buildings of all the factions were also filled with many people.
Due to the storm and also feeling a bit ill, Qin Ge did not go to the office today; all the documents were brought over by Giuseppe, who was serving as the Secretary Ship.
"Any more documents today?" Qin Ge asked, turning to Giuseppe after finishing the paperwork in front of him.
"None at all." Giuseppe smiled, "Actually there hasn't been much going on lately; Commander, you can take advantage of the continuing rain to relax a bit. There are plenty of assistants in Gangqu, so relying on them once in a while isn't a problem."
Qin Ge laughed while closing the documents, "Because I don't want to make excuses for myself. Even though I could push the work onto others and they would handle it well, that would mean I abandon my responsibility as commander."
"So even if there are few matters in Gangqu, the daily paperwork must still be handled—this is a commander's basic responsibility to Gangqu."
"Hehe, all right." Giuseppe chuckled, "Then are you not going on the next patrol, Commander?"
Qin Ge rubbed his nose, "Actually I wanted to go, but I don't know why—these past couple of days, with the storm arriving, I seem to have caught a slight cold. Otherwise, Guanghui and the others wouldn't have kept me from going to the office."
"Well then, I'll take over the next patrol." Giuseppe said, "By the way, Commander, do you have anything this afternoon?"
"This afternoon? Guanghui invited me to a tea party, and there's nothing else after that." Qin Ge said.
"Understood, then after the patrol I'll first go find Abruzzi Sister. If you have anything later, Commander, please feel free to contact me." Giuseppe said.
"Mm, I got it." Qin Ge nodded.
Not long after Giuseppe left, Belfast entered Qin Ge's room.
"Master, are you feeling better now?" Belfast asked.
"It's nothing, just a minor cold—don't make a fuss. Besides, didn't I already have the Kitchen God look me over? If you don't believe my word, do you not trust the Kitchen God's either?" Qin Ge said helplessly.
"Hehe, how could I not? I naturally believe your word, Master. However, your health concerns Gangqu's stability, so we still ought to pay attention to this." Belfast said.
"You've already paid enough attention, or rather I feel you're overdoing it." Qin Ge laughed helplessly. "Besides, who goes through life without catching a cold a few times? I'm not like you."
"So, Master, would you rather rest now, or go see Miss Guanghui?" Belfast asked with a smile.
"Let's go to Guanghui's place; I haven't had a proper talk with her in a while." Qin Ge said, smiling.
"Understood."
The two left the room together and headed toward Guanghui's quarters.
They knocked on the door and found that only Guanghui was inside.
"It seems I arrived early?" Qin Ge stepped into the room, glanced around, and said with a smile.
"No, because today I didn't invite anyone else—only you, Commander." Guanghui smiled.
"All right." Qin Ge rubbed his nose.
"By the way, Commander, are you feeling better?" Guanghui stepped forward, linked her arm with Qin Ge's, and said.
Qin Ge nodded, "Much better—I actually feel I'm already recovered. It's just a cold, nothing serious."
"Still, you should take care. By the way, is today's work finished? If not, I can help you, Commander." Guanghui asked.
"That's already done—this morning after I finished eating, I had Giuseppe fetch the documents for me. After I finished them I came over, but I didn't go on patrol today, so I've troubled Giuseppe." Qin Ge said apologetically.
"It's fine; everyone in Gangqu knows you're not feeling well, so I'm sure Miss Giuseppe would understand as well." Guanghui led Qin Ge to the table and sat down.
"Heh, it was just a minor issue, yet now the whole of Gangqu knows about it—I feel a bit embarrassed." Qin Ge said.
"Hehe, that's not surprising since you're the focus of Gangqu. To avoid this happening again, Commander, you should still look after your health and absolutely avoid getting sick again." Guanghui said.
"All right, I'll do my best—after all, who can say for sure?" Qin Ge shrugged. "Just last week I went to the Kitchen God for a checkup, and everything was fine; who knew I'd catch a cold these past two days?"
"Hehe." Guanghui giggled, "Perhaps it's because of the sudden storm these past two days; it's been raining more than usual lately."
"That's true, but when it comes to the storm, I'm still worried about whether the temporary base they're at has been completed properly, and whether those fighting at sea have encountered the storm." Qin Ge said.
"Geographically speaking, their weather is completely different from ours; although this storm covers a large area, it hasn't reached them yet, so their conditions should still be clear." Guanghui said.
"That's right too; I haven't seen them lately, so I feel like I'm worrying over nothing." Qin Ge said.
At that moment Belfast came over with a cup of tea, set it on the table, and said, "Master, didn't you also look at the documents they sent from there today? Since they're still in action, that shows the weather over there is all right."
"Indeed." Qin Ge nodded.
"Never mind, let's not talk about that. Commander, this is some little pastry I took from Dunkeerk earlier—why don't you give it a try?" Guanghui said, pointing to the snack on the table.
"I still have great faith in Dunkeerk's skill." Qin Ge said with a smile, taking a piece of the pastry and putting it in his mouth.
"It's been a long time since we've sat together like this to relax and chat." Guanghui laughed.
"Heh, it really has been a while, though not more than a month." Qin Ge said. "Didn't I just go see Yinlishabai not long ago?"
"The Queen's place is still rather formal; at the very least, behavior like this certainly wouldn't be allowed." Guanghui said, wrapping her arms around Qin Ge's arm, her face beaming with a bright smile.
"That's true; anyway, there's still plenty of time today, and I'll keep you good company." Qin Ge said.
"Mm, that's really wonderful." Guanghui laughed.
Outside the rain poured down heavily, yet inside the room it was warm as spring…
