Chapter 911: The Onlooker Sees Clearly
Qin Ge sipped tea while glancing at Aiji'er, who was reading a book nearby, wanting to say something but not knowing how to start.
"What's wrong, you're hesitating—just say what you want to say?" Aiji'er turned her head to look at Qin Ge, her eyes full of smiles, "This doesn't look like you, at least not like the old you."
Qin Ge awkwardly rubbed his nose and said, "I want to ask, have you felt that Gangqu has been strange lately?"
"Strange?" Aiji'er rolled her eyes, looking a bit puzzled, "How is it strange? Why don't I feel anything?"
"How should I put it? Before, whenever I worked late, someone would always come to see me, but I've noticed that these past two days very few people have come." Qin Ge said, looking at the House Door.
Aiji'er chuckled, "Just that?"
Qin Ge hesitated a moment, "Just that."
"Isn't this a good thing? Everyone knows you're working hard for Gangqu, so they're not coming to disturb you—isn't that normal? Or do you want people to come disturb you every day?" Aiji'er asked.
"It's not that I mean that; I just feel like it's suddenly gone, and I'm not used to it." Qin Ge said, "And these past two days, whenever I go back and visit Guanghui or others, they're all enthusiastic, but I always feel they're a bit tired."
"It's like I've worked a whole day, but as the mainstay veterans of Gangqu, they basically shouldn't have much to do now, so they shouldn't be like that every day."
"Maybe they're preparing for training in anticipation of the upcoming big battle? You know we don't have much time left, and since the Purifiers came to Gangqu, after you recalled the shipgirls from other places, everyone's relaxed, no longer needing to stay on combat alert, so they might have started training." Aiji'er said.
"Maybe, but I just feel weird, can't put my finger on it." Qin Ge frowned.
"Hehe, I think your workload has decreased lately, so you're feeling restless with nothing to do; you never used to say that before." Aiji'er laughed.
"Cough, I still work until that time each day—how could my workload have lessened?" Qin Ge said, speechless.
"Back when you used to work, you wouldn't have said these things, and your break time wasn't that long either." Aiji'er laughed.
"Alright, it seems you've been taking it easy lately." Qin Ge said helplessly, "When you go on patrol later, keep an eye on what they're doing."
"Heh." Aiji'er lightly laughed, closed her book, "Those destroyers, or those cruisers? I don't recall you ever being like the Royal Ark, turning into a lolicon, did you?"
"What lolicon? Take a look at my Marriage Ship—none of them are lolis." Qin Ge rolled his eyes.
"So you're after someone like Guanghui?" Aiji'er laughed, "Do you like the big ones?"
Qin Ge coughed, somewhat embarrassed, and said, "How did the topic come to this?"
"Heh, men." Aiji'er closed her book and stood up, "You just keep working here; I'll go patrol Gangqu and see what they're up to."
"All right." Qin Ge nodded.
Only seeing Aiji'er walk out of the House Door, smiling slightly, heading toward the Fleet Girl Academy.
Upon arriving, a bustling scene appeared before her. Basically, everyone in Gangqu who had a name was here, bustling about setting things up.
Aiji'er didn't linger, heading straight to a classroom inside the Fleet Girl Academy.
Upon entering, she saw Guanghui and Tiancheng discussing something, while Zhenhai sat at the desk sketching, and everyone else was busy with their own tasks. Though they looked busy, there was no sign of panic.
"Miss Aiji'er, aren't you supposed to be in the Commander's office? How did you end up here?" Guanghui raised her head, somewhat surprised.
"I'm patrolling Gangqu, and it seems he's noticed the strangeness in Gangqu." Aiji'er said, leaning against the wall.
"Huh? The Commander noticed what we're doing?" Enterprise raised her head, somewhat surprised.
The others also looked tense, after all this kind of thing relies on a sense of mystery; if Qin Ge found out now, there'd be no mystery left.
"That's not the case, but he's noticed that these past few days in the afternoon, no one has come to his office to disturb him. And every time he returns to his room to look for you, you all look exhausted, so he's a bit puzzled."
"As for what's happened in Gangqu, I can only say you sense the big battle is coming, so you're training." Aiji'er said helplessly.
"Oh, that's how it is, no wonder—we have too many hands here, everyone wants to contribute for the Commander, and it turned out like this." Guanghui said.
"Actually, I think you could totally take shifts—today this batch works, tomorrow another batch. After all, you need some people around him; otherwise, Gangqu would basically have everyone here, and anyone would suspect something." Aiji'er said.
"That's right, the chief isn't normally suspicious, but this time there really are too many people here." said.
"But there's not much time left until New Year's; if only half the people are working here, we might not finish in time, after all there's just too much to do. Every faction needs to be considered, and this can't be finished in just a few days." Zhenhai said.
"I have a suggestion for you to consider." Aiji'er said.
"Go ahead." Ou Gen Qin Wang said.
"Your goal is just to give him a surprise, so there's no need to make it yourself. With this time, you can totally contact people from other factions, have them lend a hand to do part of it, then when you return to Gangqu you can just assemble it—no need to start from tiny pieces." Aiji'er said.
Everyone froze for a moment after hearing that, then exchanged rueful smiles.
"Hehe, this really is a good idea; it seems we few were sometimes caught up in our own perspective."
"Although doing it ourselves would indeed be good, we don't want the Commander to see us making it ourselves; we want to give him a surprise." Zhenhai laughed.
"Hmm, I support it." Lisailiu said.
"I support it too." Weineituo said.
"Heh, Enterprise, you'll handle this; we'll keep doing the small pieces, but for the big ones we'll have to rely on other factions—later we'll have Mingshi come over to help fetch them." Tiancheng laughed.
"All right, that's decided—this way we can also send out a batch of people so the Commander won't feel it's too strange." Enterprise nodded.
"Thanks this time, Aiji'er." Ou Gen Qin Wang laughed.
"Heh, just an outsider seeing clearly." Aiji'er laughed.
"Indeed."
