Chapter 1265

~11 min read 2,004 words

When Schiller opened his eyes again, he saw a pair of snow-white wings. In his somewhat hazy field of vision, the ceiling of the room did not look like the one in his original world. Before Schiller could fully wake up, Lucifer's voice rang out in his ears.

"Schiller, your madness has once again refreshed my understanding. Do you know what you've done?!"

Schiller slowly opened his mouth. He felt a deep sense of exhaustion. Lucifer waved a hand, and light fell upon Schiller. He sighed, walked to the bedside, and said, "This is Satan's palace, my bedroom."

"What about Death?" Schiller asked, feeling a bit dizzy. He coughed lightly twice and said, "What about Destiny, who holds the book? Is he not here either?"

Lucifer's expression suddenly changed. He stared at the pale-faced Schiller on the bed and said, "You aren't thinking of taking revenge on those two, are you?... You aren't, are you?"

Lucifer leaned down, stared into Schiller's eyes, and said, "Don't tell me you actually knew what you were doing. This wasn't intentional, was it?"

Schiller felt his entire body was stiff, so he simply rolled his eyes to look at Lucifer and said, "... What do you think?"

Lucifer gritted his teeth, cursed under his breath, and stared at Schiller's face again, saying, "Why did you do this? Do you have such a deep grudge against them?"

"Tell me what happened first," Schiller said slowly.

"The main universe has been rebooted," Lucifer replied irritably.

"You brought the soul of the main universe's Batman into your Mind Palace, and then you committed suicide. The door to your Mind Palace was locked, the Gray Mist didn't have time to save you, so you died, and the main universe's Batman, whose soul was entangled with yours, died too."

"When Death arrived, she was stunned for at least two minutes. She didn't understand why there would be two victims for a single death, and one of them was the main universe's Batman, who absolutely could not die."

"The Joker couldn't accept it. He had personally ensured that another Joker and Batman would live and die together, and he suffered a mental breakdown. His soul was almost shattered into tens of thousands of pieces."

"Now it's a mess. Both the main universe's Batman and Joker are gone, and the storyline has ended."

The more Lucifer spoke, the angrier he became, his chest heaving continuously. He had to take a few deep breaths to calm himself down, then said, "Schiller, don't tell me you didn't know the storyline couldn't end like that!"

Schiller, however, suddenly began to laugh in a low voice. Although the weakness of his soul made him show pain on his face, he kept laughing until he was out of breath.

"The Joker won again." A sentence emerged from the laughter. Schiller coughed lightly twice and said, "The revenge Batman didn't take, the Joker took for him. The Joker won again..."

"You lunatic!" Lucifer grabbed his own hair and said in a near-breakdown state, "How can you be this crazy?!"

"!"

"You weren't there for three days, and you killed that universe's Joker and Batman! You made the subsequent storyline end directly! The timeline collapsed into a total mess, and God had to personally intervene to reboot the universe! Destiny, Death, and I all got a scolding!"

"How did God scold you?" Schiller maintained his smile, the joy of watching the spectacle already written on his face.

"'Three gods couldn't keep an eye on one person!'" Lucifer stared at Schiller angrily and said, "You moved too fast! When the storyline collapsed, I didn't even have time to reverse time! You did this on purpose, you lunatic!"

"Calm down." Schiller reached out and gently stroked Lucifer's wings.

Lucifer "whooshed" his wings back, looking at Schiller vigilantly, not at all deceived by his tender gesture.

Now he had realized that Schiller's tenderness was just the prelude to a major disaster. Just a few days ago, he was still mediating matters for the Bat-family, checking on Jason, and counseling Batman, only to crash the main universe the very next day.

"If I hadn't been quick, how could I have made you omniscient and omnipotent beings unable to remedy it in time?" Schiller said slowly:

"Scared to death, weren't you? Flustered, weren't you? Who was it that forced me into the Book of Destiny, disrupting my peaceful life and forcing me to live in another universe?"

"Pride and Greed were right! You are the most petty one among all the Schillers!

!" Lucifer gritted his teeth and said, "Was it worth it?!"

""

"We are all Pride. I think you should learn from me. In return for you saving me, I can teach you everything I know..."

"No need!"

Lucifer snorted, helped Schiller up, let him lean against the headboard, and then said irritably, "The bad news is that you've been blacklisted by the main universe. Don't even think about going there again."

Schiller glanced at him coldly. Lucifer spread his hands and said, "Don't look at me, I didn't do it."

After saying this, he stretched out a hand, and a small point of light appeared in his palm, which was clearly the main universe he spoke of.

At this moment, that point of light was surrounded by a circle of text brighter than the light itself—"Schiller and other Schillers are not allowed to enter!"

Schiller nodded calmly, as if he didn't care at all. But at this moment, Lucifer leaned close to him and whispered, "God sent Gabriel to watch over that place, and he was the one who rebooted the universe."

"However, I know you are very averse to reboots. Don't look at me like that; I know what kind of mess you caused in another universe because of a reboot, so Batman's memory was preserved. He still remembers you."

Schiller rolled his eyes back, looked at Lucifer, and said, "What, do you want to draw a line between yourself and them?"

Lucifer sighed and said, "Before I met you, I also thought that my omniscient and omnipotent authority allowed me to control everything in all universes. Now I realize that omniscience and omnipotence are not enough. To control madness, one must be crazier than madness itself."

"But I have absolutely no interest in the inner worlds of you lunatics, and I don't want to make myself crazy. So, in return for me being so good to you, stop making things difficult for us, and stop making things difficult for this universe!"

Lucifer looked at Schiller with a very sincere expression, almost writing on his face, "Our temple is small, can't you go and wreak havoc next door?"

Schiller slowly closed his eyes and said, "The main universe has blacklisted me, and I can never go to that universe again. But do you really think it's over?"

"I vaguely remember an angel who was entangled with the magic family of our universe and sent people to blow up my bookstore. I also remember a rotten magician who tore himself in half just to scare me. I still remember someone locking the door to the Mind Palace when I went to another universe..."

Lucifer's expression froze. He was the real-deal Satan, but when Schiller's slightly smiling voice echoed in his ears, it sounded far too much like a devil's whisper.

"And you, my friend, I know you will save me, so I have specially prepared a gift for you. Just watch, it won't be long before someone comes to beg you."

When Batman opened his eyes, he found himself in the bedroom. He opened his mouth to utter a name, but suddenly discovered that no matter what, he could not pronounce that syllable.

Batman widened his eyes slightly, but soon frowned, his mouth curling downward, revealing a classic expression of suspicion.

Just as he walked out the door, Alfred greeted him and said, "Master, your assistant just called to say that Lincoln March, whom you met at the event yesterday, is interested in discussing Gotham City investments with you. He is currently waiting in the reception room of Wei En Tower. Would you like to go over?"

Batman's eyebrows twitched slightly. He asked calmly, "Alfred, what is the date today?"

"It is already the 23rd, Master. If it is inconvenient for you, I will call back and say you have matters to attend to today."

"No need, help me prepare my clothes and the car."

A few hours later, Batman, returning from Wei En Tower, confirmed that time had been reset, but his memory had not.

And just as he returned, he ran into Jason, who had come to pick up something. Seeing Jason's expression, Batman knew that he definitely didn't remember Schiller either, otherwise, he would have immediately come up to question him about his relationship with Schiller.

After returning to the bedroom, Batman did not linger. He immediately changed his clothes, gathered his equipment, went to the study, took a brand-new notebook out of the drawer, picked up a fountain pen, and began to write.

He first tried the American spelling of Schiller, "schiller," and after finding there was no reaction at all, he began to try the German spelling, "schiele."

Sure enough, the moment he wrote the first arc of the first letter, the stroke could not proceed any further.

Batman applied a little force to his hand, but it was as if an irresistible force was blocking his writing. Batman narrowed his eyes, his mouth curling downward even deeper.

"No one can stop me, because I am Batman."

Batman instinctively said this sentence, and then the writing flowed for a moment, but the next second, with a "crack," sparks flew, and the pen in Batman's hand flew straight out.

Batman was not startled. He silently picked up another pen and began to write, but this time he didn't write that name first; instead, he wrote, "Because I am Batman."

Sure enough, it was much smoother when he started writing the name, but at the end of the first letter, it couldn't proceed again. Batman wrestled with that force, and the final result was still the pen being knocked away.

Batman let out a cold, contemptuous snort, walked slowly to the bookshelf, and pressed a button. With a "clatter," the bottom shelf of the bookshelf tipped over like a box, spilling out more than twenty thousand fountain pens.

More than ten hours later, waste paper and pens that had flown out filled the entire study.

Finally, as Batman picked up a fountain pen again, a golden light flashed, and a weary-looking angel appeared in the corner of the room. She stretched out a hand to Batman and said, "Stop!"

"Don't write anymore, Batman! I beg you! This is for your own good, and for the good of this universe. Stop writing the name of that lunatic!"

Batman glanced silently in her direction, then looked down at the pen in his hand, and calmly and firmly uttered a single word: "Hallucination."

Then he raised his pen and began to write again.

Gabriel was on the verge of a breakdown. She shouted, "It's not a hallucination! I'm not a hallucination! I'm an angel! Do you see my wings?! You two damn lunatics!

!

!"

Batman turned a deaf ear.

Gabriel stretched out a hand, intending to use magic to stop Batman, but with one sentence from Batman, "Because I am Batman," all magic immediately failed.

Finally, Gabriel covered her face with both hands and whispered, "Lucifer... Lucifer!

I beg you, think of something, Lucifer!

!"

"Fine, fine, I knew you were in cahoots with that lunatic. Damn Lucifer, you won that battle by the Holy Spring! Is that enough? Think of something!"

"Don't push your luck, Lucifer..."

Gabriel gritted her teeth, but soon, Batman began to write the name again, and the seal ring outside the universe began to crumble.

A few seconds later, Gabriel's broken wail echoed between several universes—

"Brother!

!

!"
