Chapter 1267

~11 min read 2,028 words

After gradually entering summer, the scorching sun on the New York coastline made the sweat of busy city dwellers flow down their necks.

The shadows cast by shuttles and sky-trains streaking across the horizon brought fleeting shade, briefly blocking the heat and giving pedestrians a moment to catch their breath.

On the top floor of Stark Tower, in Tony Stark's private laboratory, Schiller rested his face on his hand, struggling to keep his leaden eyelids open. In his hazy and distracted field of vision, Peter, wearing black-rimmed glasses, and Stark, wearing half a suit of armor, were engaged in their third round of debate over technical issues.

"No, Mr. Stark, you must listen to me on this. Only miniaturization and civilian use are the way forward. Imagine, the nanotechnology coating technology for spaceships can be fully applied to the production of many civilian goods. Our next stage of work should be to reduce costs and expand application areas."

"Right, but that cannot hinder us from continuing to deepen our research. Listen to me, Peter, you cannot continue to waste time in the 3rd experimental group. Dr. Connors needs you; he needs your genius brain and inspiration."

"But you clearly promised me before that you would let me participate in the magic experimental group, did you forget? The symbiote Red Bee in my body has absorbed quite a bit of the faith power of the Morlun family; I am fully capable of exploring the magic field..."

"Stop talking nonsense, kid. It's impossible for me to let you go over there. That damn long-faced Sorcerer Supreme has been eyeing you for a long time. I'm planning to find a tabloid reporter next week to write a report saying he's abducting the genius researcher Peter Parker; he wants to be your sugar daddy..."

"You can't do that, Mr. Stark, you're too childish."

In Schiller's Mind Palace, Schiller, who had just taken the elevator down from his surface consciousness, sighed while walking into the corridor and muttered to himself, "It's hell, what does the spaceship coating technology and which research group Peter Parker goes to have to do with me?"

"Forget it, I can just pretend to be asleep during this time and be lazy for a while." Greed yawned, stretched at the door of his own room, opened the door, and walked in.

He had just taken off his coat when he heard a knock on the door. Greed was a bit puzzled, but still glanced toward the door and asked, "Who is it?"

"Pride asked me to bring you something," a slightly low voice sounded outside the door. Greed opened his eyes wide in shock.

He walked quickly to the door, grabbed the doorknob, and pulled the door open. Appearing outside the door was the face of Bruce Wayne.

Before Greed could scream, Bruce quickly stepped forward, squeezed in through the crack in the door, and then slammed the door shut with a bang.

"Good heavens, didn't Super-Me clear the interior of the tower when crossing worlds? How could you be stranded here?" Greed's eyeballs were about to pop out. He raised his voice and said, "Do you know what you've done?"

After saying this, Greed froze for a moment, then grabbed Bruce's arm in a panic, trying to push him out the door, saying while pushing, "No, it must be that careless guy Pride who forgot to send you back. My god, this isn't a joke. Come with me quickly; before Super-Me discovers you, I have to send you back."

But Bruce stood still. Greed turned his head to the side in surprise. The moment he met Bruce's deep blue eyes, he backed away in terror and shouted.

"Batman??!

!

"

Greed was completely frozen in place. After staring at Batman for a few seconds, he darted to the corner of the wall, supported himself with both hands on the walls, and said in a tone of trembling terror.

"You aren't that little bat, you are the Batman of the main universe!

!

How could you be here???!

!"

"I told you, Pride asked me to bring you something."

"Ah??!

" Greed let out a scream full of confusion, then pressed his forehead with his hand, took a few deep breaths in place, shook his head vigorously, and said, "Wait a minute, I have a few questions. First, how did you get in?!"

"

Bruce's eyes looked toward the ground. Greed followed his gaze and looked down, then Bruce looked into Greed's eyes and said, "The hole underneath."

"I know, I know you certainly couldn't have come in through the front door. The problem is you are a person from another universe, how could you... I mean, fine, you've already come in once before, but you still can't..."

"Lucifer," Batman uttered a name.

"Ah??!

"

"They rebooted my universe, making all my efforts during this period go to waste, and deleted everyone's memory of Schiller in that universe, blocked the spelling and syllables of his name, so that he could no longer appear in my universe in any way."

Batman said calmly, his tone as cool as if he were talking about something completely unrelated to himself.

"But I think this is neither just nor fair. Schiller is my friend; I don't want his existence to be erased from my universe, so I began to try to call back his name, until a hallucination like an angel appeared before my eyes."

"That angel said I was crazy, but I know I'm not, because the one who reboots the universe at will is the crazy one."

Greed stared at him straightly. He slowly stood up straight, looked into Bruce's eyes, and said, "Pride really told you everything, huh?"

"The angel who appeared before me couldn't do anything about me, so he called an angel named Lucifer, and Lucifer is Schiller's friend. We reached an agreement."

"Schiller and I can no longer meet in reality in any way, especially not together to see the Joker, any Joker won't do, but considering the friendship between us, we can use dreams as a bridge and enter each other's spiritual world through the resonance of souls."

"This..." Greed was choked up. He curled one corner of his mouth and said with a complex expression, "Sounds a bit like... the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl?"

Subsequently, he rubbed his brow and said, "Fine, I understand this part, but why did you run here? I mean, you should know that the Mind Tower cannot be entered or exited at will, right? Super-Me regularly clears things out of the tower; outsiders cannot escape his eyes."

"Unless another Schiller helps," Bruce continued his words. He blinked and said in his usual flat tone, "Pride told me there is an existence at the same level of authority as the tower administrator Super-Me, called Morbid. He helped Morbid find a new toy, so Morbid used his authority to let me in."

Greed opened his mouth to say something, but it seemed he didn't know where to start. After a while, he said quite angrily, "How come the whole world is on Pride's side?!"

Suddenly he realized, and stared at Bruce with wide eyes again, saying, "The thing Pride wants to send me isn't you, is it? God, spare me, I don't deserve to torture each other with Batman, do I?!"

Greed was truly shocked and helpless. He didn't think he was as sick as Pride, taking pleasure in torturing each other with Batman.

The whole world knew that Batman was a huge trouble, and he was just a plain and simple little expert at getting rich, just wanting to make some money. If he were entangled by Batman, how could he continue to delve into the learning and practice of the reimbursement system under macroeconomic conditions?

"He asked me to bring you a message," Batman's tone was flat: "I hope that in the future, the speed at which you lock the door every day can be as fast as when you locked the Mind Tower at that time. Otherwise, you will see many more surprises like me."

Greed froze in place, then took a deep breath, and his indignant roar echoed in the Mind Tower.

"Pride, you are the most petty Schiller in the world!

!

!"

"Schiller? Schiller? Wake up... Schiller!"

"What's wrong?" Schiller woke up with a start.

Appearing in his field of vision were the worried expressions of Peter and Stark. Peter's tone was full of worry. He looked at Stark and said, "Fine, Tony, at least on this point, I strongly agree with you. We really have to pay attention to Dr. Schiller's mental state at all times. He is so sleepy that he falls asleep while we are arguing; this is simply too terrifying."

"Forget it, I think he just can't understand those technical terms and can only sleep soundly," Stark frowned and took two steps back, revealing an expression of slight disgust.

Schiller struggled to rub his eyes, making his vision less hazy. And just as his gaze focused on Stark's face, a low voice came from the depths of his heart.

"Who is he?"

Schiller widened his eyes in shock. He put his attention back into his room in the Mind Tower, only to find that Batman was gone.

Schiller gasped. While Peter and Stark hadn't reacted yet, his expression became dull. Greed hurried back to the Mind Tower, took the elevator down, ran through the crowd in the corridor in a panic, and ran all the way to the theater.

"Good heavens, why are you here?!" Greed looked at Batman's figure sitting in the center of the theater and screamed.

"Why can't I be here?" Batman said righteously as if this were his home. He tilted his head slightly and looked at Greed from the corner of his eye, saying, "Pride invited me to be a guest here and said I could visit at will. He is also the owner here and should have such a right."

"And he told me I could come to this room and see what this body is experiencing."

Greed opened his mouth, put his hands on his hips, took a deep breath, looked at Batman, and said, "Pride told you to come to this room to see what I'm experiencing?? Why didn't he tell you how many clothes he has in his closet, which side he lies on when sleeping, and what he does first when he gets up?"

Subsequently, Greed sighed helplessly, looked at Batman, and said, "Pride, that damn lunatic! He's already crazy enough to use Batman to deal with himself, and you're actually helping him?"

Batman was about to say something, but Greed waved a hand to interrupt him, saying, "I know what you're going to say, because you are Batman, so no one can stop you... You guys from DC are really too dark!"

"Listen, Batman," Greed stretched out a hand and said, "This isn't your territory. I don't just mean my Mind Tower, but the world I'm currently in. If you want to watch, just sit here honestly and don't cause me trouble, understand?"

Batman remained silent and didn't answer. Greed was also helpless, because he could already hear Peter and Stark calling him in the real world. He had to float up quickly to deal with them, otherwise, he would be sent to the hospital again.

Schiller's consciousness floated up, and the moment he regained control of his body, he saw Stark's face enlarging in his field of vision. Schiller instinctively dodged backward, and Stark waved his hand in front of his eyes.

"Peter! Peter!" Stark took two steps back, called Peter's name, and said, "Contact the Presbyterian Hospital, Schiller's condition is a bit wrong again!"

"No, wait, I'm fine," Schiller said.

"Who is he?" Batman's voice rang out in Schiller's heart again.

"None of your business," Schiller gritted his teeth and said.

"But he looks like a moron."

"Shut up."

"Peter, call the doctor quickly, Schiller is hallucinating again."

"You shut up too, Stark."

"Showing aggression toward hallucinations, Peter, call the doctor quickly!"

"You're right, he is a moron!"
