Chapter 1278: Starry Stage (Part 2)
In the Bronx district of New York, in the basement of a private house, Wanda and Squirrel Girl jointly carried a large basin of steaming soup and placed it on the table. The chubby Fungus Man put down the game controller in his hand, walked over, rubbed his nose, and said: "Oh my god, ladies, your virtuousness surprises me."
"Don't use this word to describe us," Squirrel Girl put her hands on her hips, rolled her eyes, and said: "It's just to celebrate us finding a new base."
Soon, more steaming dishes were placed on the table. Suddenly, the basement door "creaked." Everyone turned their heads and saw Nightwing push the door and walk in, followed by "Speedball" Luo Bote, whose face was still a bit pale, and walking at the very end was Jarvis, wearing a casual sweatshirt.
Seeing Jarvis, Wanda was obviously happy. She deliberately took off her cloak, threw it on the hanger beside, and sat at the table, supporting her face with her hands.
"Those robbers were clearly premeditated. They waited for Mrs. Tracy to go out, pried open the warehouse lock, and stole that priceless bicycle."
"Actually, I don't quite understand why that bicycle is so expensive? And how did those robbers know Mrs. Tracy had such a collection?"
Nightwing and Speedball were discussing the case they had just solved. The New Warriors team had originally disbanded, but Nightwing was unwilling to give up the idea of fighting crime and happened to meet Ma Te, who was leading another team of young heroes for training in Hell's Kitchen.
Ma Te asked Nightwing to join, but Nightwing didn't feel he was a child who needed training. Ma Te respected their ideas and suggested they come to a reserve base he had prepared in the Bronx district to rebuild the young heroes' team.
This time, Nightwing felt that he must choose partners as cautiously as possible. The tragedy of the successive deaths of Spider-Man and Captain America brought him huge psychological shadows, making him understand that upholding justice wasn't something that could be accomplished by a burst of enthusiasm or showing off.
And at this time, Speedball Luo Bote, whose psychological state had improved, found Nightwing. The two hit it off and wanted to reorganize the New Warriors team.
It happened that Wanda and Pietro were looking for a new house. They were used to living in places where public security wasn't very good because the rent was cheap there, and the dangers of these ordinary people couldn't harm them.
Jarvis used his information collection technology to help Wanda find a house. The Bronx district had the most houses that met Wanda and Pietro's requirements. The two groups of people met in the Bronx district just like this.
Then, they found back Squirrel Girl and Fungus Man, who had stable personalities and good abilities in the team before. They reorganized the New Warriors team and stationed in the Bronx district, solving the endless violent crimes and drug problems here.
In fact, mutants didn't directly participate in activities, or rather, other members of the New Warriors didn't dare let them participate in activities. Wanda's magic ability, if she went all out, wouldn't be fighting crime.
The Scarlet Witch's ability was too powerful. If she couldn't control it well, it would be another disaster. So Wanda only maintained limited contact with them, still focusing on the construction of the Andromeda Galaxy, appearing occasionally, while Pietro and Jarvis undertook reconnaissance work.
Pietro's ability didn't have much effect on the construction of the Andromeda Galaxy. Communication between regions had portals, and there was no need for a high-speed messenger. And Jarvis was still focused on exploring the emotional module he had newly acquired, so the two of them stayed on Earth to help the reorganized New Warriors team.
"Did you come back from the Andromeda Galaxy?" Jarvis walked to Wanda's side and looked at her. Wanda suddenly felt a bit shy. She nodded and said: "Yes, I had another argument with Erik, and I ran back again."
She suddenly stood up, began to pace at the table, and said: "I know you guys must find me annoying, like a little girl throwing a tantrum, running out of the house whenever I argue with my father."
"Of course not," Fungus Man said: "Didn't we also see your father last time? His temper is really something. This is completely not your fault."
"He has been exceptionally irritable recently," Wanda didn't show any grievance or sadness, just lowered her eyelids and said: "He and Lorna got a topic that humans couldn't possibly complete, so difficult that it was to the sky, and then successfully made themselves irritable and depressed."
"Professor Charles hoped I could visit the two of them to alleviate their emotions. At the time, I didn't hold any hope. Sure enough, I went there just to be a peacemaker for them."
"The two of them argued to the sky because of a data conclusion, and even fought. I almost couldn't hold them down. But after I persuaded them to stop, they united to scold me."
Wanda shook her head helplessly and said: "Lorna is really her father's good daughter. They should be locked together forever, these two damn perfectionists and obsessive-compulsive psychiatric patients!"
Suddenly, Wanda felt someone pat her shoulder. She turned around and found Jarvis was too close to her.
A flash of red light flashed in Wanda's eyes. With a "whoosh," the witch lady flashed to the corner, but pretended nothing happened and said: "To celebrate you guys moving to a new base, I specially rushed over. But I still have to go to the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters later to inform Professor Charles about the progress of the Andromeda Galaxy. I can't stay too long."
"Oh..." Fungus Man dragged a long sound. While everyone was sitting at the dining table, he lowered his voice and said to Jarvis: "The two VIP tickets for the aerial transport tool technology expo held in Queens are pressed under the game console. Nightwing got them."
Jarvis immediately blinked knowingly, silently observing Wanda's expression. He was very sure that the Scarlet Witch with magic must have heard what Fungus Man said. Judging from her expression, she didn't seem to dislike the technology expo.
So, after eating, Jarvis said to Wanda, who was about to leave the table: "I downloaded the latest two-player game on the game console. Do we want to play for a while?"
Before Wanda could answer, Jarvis immediately said: "A camera on a computer in an office told me that Professor Charles is still taking a nap. If you go now, you might disturb him. How about later."
Wanda stared wide-eyed, but still couldn't help walking toward the TV. She waved her hand somewhat reproachfully and said: "You can't hack into the professor's computer. This is immoral!"
"The computer told me itself."
"Nonsense."
The two sat on the sofa in the living room, each holding a controller, ready to start playing. When Jarvis went to debug the game console, he took out the two tickets and put them into his pocket silently.
Just after the two finished a small game, Jarvis suddenly pressed his temple. A stream of information flashed in the bottom of his eyes. He put down the controller, turned to look at Wanda, and said: "Sorry, someone called me. I might have to go out for a while."
"Go ahead," Wanda waved her hand, and then turned to call Squirrel Girl.
After Jarvis left the underground base, he pressed his hand on his temple again and said: "Hey, Eddie, what's wrong? Weren't the materials related to the shuttle lines sent to you last time? Didn't you receive them?"
"Look behind you," a low voice came into Jarvis's brain.
Jarvis turned his head and saw a huge black monster squatting on the roof of the garage. Venom jumped down, walked to Jarvis, and said: "Jarvis, you still have to do me a favor."
"What do you want to do?" Jarvis frowned slightly.
"I need to separate from Eddie," Venom's voice was filled with inexplicable emotions: "But I can't do it myself. Symbiotes cannot actively separate from the host. I need a certain stimulation."
"Last time I parasitized Stark, you manipulated the speakers of Stark Tower and almost shook me out. You should do the same this time."
Jarvis looked at him with wide eyes and said: "You're crazy. Fire and vibration are the weaknesses of symbiotes. You will be very painful because of this."
"But I must do this," Venom's white spider compound eyes blinked and said: "I can't let Eddie Brock become a psychiatric patient. Because of my tug-of-war and internal friction with him, he's about to go crazy. And a damn psychiatrist has to give psychological assessments to all superheroes with special abilities regularly."
"I know what this kind of assessment means," Venom bared his teeth and said: "All superhuman forces attach great importance to Shiler's assessment report. They don't need super-powered people who are mentally unstable and may cause destruction at any time to wander in front of them. They say this is for the future of mankind."
"You're taking things a bit too seriously," Jarvis persuaded: "Nick and Shiler both believe that we should pay more attention to the mental health of superheroes, but it doesn't mean that if they aren't healthy, they have to be locked up. I've never heard of such a thing."
"But I always have to think of a way to let Eddie return to normal," Venom's tone revealed a kind of anxiety. In fact, he could not roar, which was already considered some growth. "Eddie returns to his daily life, instead of drinking after resigning."
"According to my analytical judgment, it's just that your powerful physical strength is feeding back your soul. Therefore, you have reached the growth period that symbiotes of this race are well-known for, and humans call it the rebellious period. It's very normal for you to have emotional fluctuations. You should spend it together..."
"Cut the crap!" Venom roared: "Hurry up and think of a way!"
Jarvis pursed his lips and said: "I have to remind you, doing this in Stark Tower has no benefits. Don't think I don't know what you're planning."
"I won't hurt Tony Stark. I know better than you how important he is. At least for Eddie's sake, I won't do that."
"I just need a temporary place to stay. That rotten person will hope to see me. Although he doesn't say it, he must be thinking so."
Jarvis sighed, looked at Venom with somewhat sympathetic eyes, and said: "Fine, I authorize you the elevator permission. Now you go to Laboratory 2 on the top floor. I will notify the medical staff to look after Eddie."
After Venom left, Jarvis shook his head and whispered: "... I warned you."
Soon, Eddie came to Stark Tower. Of course, it was Venom controlling the body now. Just like Jarvis said, the symbiote that absorbed a large amount of energy possessed unparalleled strength. He could even make Eddie's consciousness fall into a coma and control the body to act by himself.
In fact, this had seriously infringed on the rights of the host, but Venom felt he had no choice, because he knew Eddie didn't want the two of them to separate even more.
But to some extent, Venom also believed Shiler's judgment. The soul state of him and Eddie being entangled together wasn't healthy. If he really had a rebellious period, then he would rather go torture another rotten person who was in a rebellious period 365 days a year. At least they were hurting each other.
Soon, a "hum" sounded in the laboratory. The continuous intense vibration made every symbiote factor of Venom scream, but he still maintained the part of energy that suppressed Eddie's soul, letting him not wake up.
The black sticky liquid was gradually peeled off to the ground, flowing out along the door crack. And in the laboratory next door, Stark, who was taking a nap on the table, felt some sticky touch wrapping around his ankles in a hazy state.
In two rooms separated by a wall, Eddie, full of exhaustion, was helped to the bed by medical staff and fell into a deep sleep. And Stark just woke up from a dream and heard an evil voice suddenly explode in his ear.
"I'm back! You rotten person!"
In an instant, a huge and terrifying black monster composed of surging symbiote factors descended into Stark's mental space.
Stark was stunned, and Venom was clearly very proud of this long-lost prank of his. The rampant and evil laughter echoed in Stark's brain.
"Didn't expect it, right? I'm so powerful now, hahahahahahahahahahaha... hiccup!"
A suffocating sound like being pinched by the neck suddenly appeared. The only pair of white eyes in the black rotten mud was covered by another even larger and more terrifying shadow.
Venom slowly raised his head. Under the infinite and sky-covering black tide, a pair of strange yet familiar eyes slowly lit up.
When that gaze like a deep-sea giant beast focused on Venom, a scream even more intense than laughter echoed in Stark's consciousness space.
