Chapter 1347: Mysteries of the Feast (Part 14)
About two hours later, the raccoon stood on the table, looked down at its belly in surprise, then flicked its tail, moved its shoulders, and turned around in place.
The raccoon looked at Shiler with shocked eyes and said, "Are you sure you're just a psychologist? A miracle worker!"
Shiler wrote and drew on the medical record while saying, "You're welcome. I'd rather know, what kind of trouble did you get into?"
Mentioning this, the raccoon's expression changed. A trace of entanglement appeared on its face, then it waved its hand, sat on the edge of the table, dangled its legs, and said, "We haven't introduced ourselves yet. My name is Rocket, you can also call me Rocket Cat. What's your name?"
"You are a cat? Aren't you a raccoon?"
"I don't know what a raccoon is." Rocket Raccoon shook its head and said, "My former owner called me 'cat'... or some other pet name, I can't remember clearly. After those machines occupied my brain, past memories became more and more hazy."
"My name is Shiler Rodriguez. Given that the pronunciation of the surname might be a bit difficult for you, you can just call me Dr. Shiler."
"Alright, Dr. Shiler, thank you for saving me, but I advise you not to get involved in this matter. This is not something humans can handle."
Rocket Raccoon crossed its arms, showing a deliberately profound expression. Shiler smiled, moved a chair to sit opposite it, looked at it, and said, "Then I have to know what it is first, right? Are you willing to tell me?"
Rocket Raccoon reached out its claws and touched its chest. It could feel that although the appearance hadn't changed, its interior was brand new. This doctor had just used a mysterious substance to painlessly replace the materials of the parts in its body, which was equivalent to bringing it back from the dead.
In fact, Rocket Raccoon knew that at that time, it was at the end of its rope. The destruction of its body led to nerve damage, and abnormal nerve discharge led to the body being out of control. The huge pain affected its spirit, making it stay in a state of stress for a long time, almost unable to think rationally.
This is not its territory, but Asgard. It can be said that if that Alan had called someone first, even if a hundred Rocket Raccoons were stacked up, they wouldn't be able to beat an Asgardian guard.
This doctor saved its life, Rocket Raccoon thought. That wonderful mist might be his special ability, but thinking about it, if he didn't have any unique skills, how could he be invited by Asgard?
Rocket Raccoon, like other members of civilization, had heard of the human race and knew the fact that the gap between their upper and lower limits was extremely large. Perhaps any human encountered in the interstellar space was outrageously strong. Perhaps this doctor was the same.
Thinking of this, a spark of fire reignited in Rocket Raccoon's desperate heart. It had special trust in the profession of doctor, so it supported its hands on the edge of the table, lowered its head, and said, "I came here mixed on the ship of the Doderer Federation."
"I encountered some trouble in the Centaurus constellation. I knew I had to find an opportunity to escape from there, but the ship of that damn interstellar pirate was everywhere. I was chased to a dead end and could only hide on a Doderer Federation merchant ship, and then was transported to the starport with the merchant ship."
"The merchant ship didn't have a guard team and wasn't safe enough, so I hid in a box of tributes and was sent to the ship of a certain tribal royal family. On the ship, I heard that the royal families of multiple tribes were going to Asgard to attend the banquet, so I found the ship of the royal family with the most relaxed defense and mixed in."
"I knew that no matter how bold those cosmic pirates were, they wouldn't dare to intercept a ship going to Asgard for a banquet. Sure enough, I successfully left the Centaurus star system with the team."
"I originally wanted to jump ship halfway, but I didn't expect their defense to be extra tight. I didn't find an opportunity and was almost discovered during the escape, and suffered not-so-light injuries."
"The fleet arrived in Asgard. I was already desperate because I felt I couldn't escape the security check of Asgard. But just then, my vital signs were very weak, and my body was very small, curled up under the gift box, and not conspicuous."
"The guards of Asgard had already discovered me, but they treated me as a gift from this tribe to the King. You know, some civilizations like to send special animals and plants from their planet as gifts to others. They treated me as a gift and put me in the warehouse."
"I originally wanted to find an opportunity to escape from the warehouse, but who knew that this Alan was worried that the gift for the King would go wrong and insisted on checking the warehouse. I was worried about being discovered, so I slipped onto his carriage when the warehouse door opened, drilled into the package carried by his steward, and followed him back to the bedroom."
"But his steward's movements were too rough when storing the package. I was dropped, the wound on my back split open, and I was really too painful, so I cried out, and then I was discovered."
"At that time, my mental state was not good, and their tribe mastered some illusion magic. They constantly tortured me with fantasies and fine magic... I think I might have revealed some secrets unconsciously, secrets about why I was being hunted."
A painful expression appeared on Rocket Raccoon's face, but Shiler noticed a detail. He looked at Rocket Raccoon and asked, "When were you discovered?"
"Probably yesterday morning."
Shiler frowned. That is to say, when Alan came to find him, he had actually already captured Rocket Raccoon and had already obtained some secrets from it. Then his behavior of coming to find him might have been premeditated.
Yesterday morning, Alan captured Rocket Raccoon, and then used the daytime to constantly torture and interrogate it, obtaining some secrets from its mouth.
Alan might have wanted to use these secrets, but didn't know if this information was reliable, so he wanted to use the information channel of the Sanctum Sanctorum to determine if some of the things Rocket Raccoon said were true.
When Alan came to find Shiler, the excuse he used was that he wanted to find the Sorcerer Supreme, but couldn't find anyone. But now it seems that Alan's target was probably Shiler.
Alan certainly hadn't reached the level of understanding what Shiler had done. He only knew that the Sorcerer Supreme was not easy to mess with, while Shiler, who looked gentle and elegant, seemed much more amiable.
He found Shiler and confirmed from Shiler's mouth that the interstellar pirate Yondu was indeed chasing an animal. The Ravagers were a group of villains who wouldn't do anything without profit. If they hadn't received an important mission, they would never have gone to such lengths to stay in the Centaurus constellation for so long.
Being able to make the Ravagers search with great fanfare meant that the secret Rocket Raccoon revealed to them must be very important, and it was also very likely to be true.
"So, why were you chased by Yondu? What kind of secret are you carrying?" Shiler looked into Rocket Raccoon's eyes and asked the key question.
Rocket Raccoon gently closed its eyes, sighed, licked the edge of its lips with its tongue, and bared its teeth again, saying, "Do you think I was carrying some important treasure that made them chase me up and down?"
"Come on, I'm not one of those profit-seeking, money-over-life Ravager lunatics. There is nothing more important than life in this world. If I could save my life by handing over the thing, I would have done it long ago!"
Shiler frowned. He looked at Rocket Raccoon and said, "So, this secret is you yourself?"
Rocket Raccoon raised its head in surprise. Shiler shook his head gently and said, "This is not hard to guess. If there were no special purposes, no one would go to such lengths to use genetic modification technology to modify a mechanical raccoon."
"I am not a raccoon!" Rocket Raccoon wrinkled its nose and said, "But you guessed right. I am the secret itself."
Before Shiler could ask, Rocket Raccoon showed a look of recollection and began to tell its life story.
"Because of the modification, memories that were too distant have gradually become hazy. From the time I had memories, I lived in a hospital. That was a mental hospital on the edge of the universe. They called it 'Half-World'."
"At the beginning, there were quite a few mental patients there, and my owner was a little girl who had just been sent in not long ago. Her name was probably Angelier... or Angelina? I don't remember. Anyway, at that time, I was her pet."
"At that time, there were doctors in the hospital, and the mental patients were all very normal. My owner had hallucination syndrome, which was a common mental illness in their race. After about two years of treatment, she was almost better and could be discharged at any time."
Rocket Raccoon showed a sad expression. It said in a low tone, "I remember, at that time, she held me, sat under the big tree in the yard, and imagined life after being discharged."
"But one day, disaster struck."
"The doctors responsible for treating us withdrew one after another, and more and more terrible patients were sent in. They were not mental patients at all, or rather, they weren't originally. They were driven crazy by people."
Rocket Raccoon closed its eyes tightly, its features wrinkled together, as if recalling some very terrible things. It said in a somewhat trembling tone, "Those mental patients who were sent in were all driven crazy by inhumane experiments and torture."
"A few doctors didn't follow the main force to withdraw because of their conscience. They stayed behind, wanting to continue to take care of the mental patients here, including my owner's attending physician."
"After that group of uncontrollable lunatics came in, he tried his best to protect his patients, but this didn't work at all. This was no longer a hospital that wanted to cure patients, but their laboratory."
"A group of higher-level alien civilizations threw those crazy products of failed experiments here, wanting to obtain the final results of the experiments here."
Rocket Raccoon began to tremble all over. Just then, it felt a hand placed on the top of its head, stroking down along its spine until it smoothed the fur on the tip of its tail.
Rocket Raccoon shook its ears comfortably, looked up at Shiler who had just stroked it, and said:
"But that group of advanced civilizations also knew that someone had to take care of this group of lunatics. They were too lazy to find another group of doctors, so they simply manufactured a batch of robots directly. But this was the beginning of the disaster."
"The order that group of robots received was not to stop the chaos here, but to make it more chaotic, to let all the lunatics kill each other until the final winner was decided. In this chaos, my owner and the doctor who protected us were killed."
"Not long after, the star exploded, and the radiation awakened the self-consciousness of the robots. They didn't want to do it anymore, and directly used the genetic modification technology inherited from the higher civilization to modify the pets of the former patients, that is, us, a group of ignorant little animals."
Rocket Raccoon slowly raised its head and said, "But they didn't know that the wildness of animals would not disappear with mechanical modification. On the last day when that group of robots planned to withdraw from this planet, I found the culprit who killed that doctor, a security robot, and successfully destroyed him."
"Afterward, I wrote his underlying protocol into my own system, and thus inherited his fighting ability and firearm usage skills. After another riot, I looked for an opportunity and used these skills to escape from the mental hospital."
Rocket Raccoon raised its eyes to look at Shiler and said:
"And when I had the opportunity to carefully check my code library, I discovered that there was an evil plan recorded in the underlying protocol of the security robot."
"They called it the 'Cosmic Life Fusion Project'... The initiator of this project was exactly the Shi'ar Empire, one of the three major empires of the universe."
