Chapter 1472
"Come out quickly, Sir Bennett, we need to talk properly. I have a friend who needs your help..."
Constantine calls out from outside the coffin. After a few minutes, the coffin lid barely opens a crack. Bennett's eyes emit a red light in the darkness. He looks at Constantine and says, "John, I've only been asleep for less than ten years, and my power hasn't recovered even half. Whatever you want to do, I'm afraid I can't help you."
"It's just a small favor. I've already retired from the magical world; it's impossible for there to be any major matters that require your help."
Bennett opens his eyes wide in surprise. He looks at Constantine's face and says, "You retired from the magical world? How were those staggering debts of yours paid off?"
"That's a long story. Come out first."
A few minutes later, Jim, Bennett, and Constantine sit together by the bar of the Forgotten Bar.
After listening to Constantine's account, Bennett lets out a long breath. It's hard to say if it's emotion or the relief of having narrowly escaped a disaster.
"John, you really are a lucky guy." Bennett sighs after taking a sip of wine, "Your friend paid off your debts at the cost of himself. From now on, you are different from us."
"It's not that different." Constantine clinks his glass lightly with him and says, "You should also know that paying off debts isn't the end. It's impossible for me not to deal with the magical world for the rest of my life. Too many people have come looking for me."
"When we parted back then, I told you that I needed to sleep for at least a century to make up for the power I lost. What kind of matter could make you wake me up early?"
"Compared to that, I want to ask you..." Constantine turns sideways to look at Bennett beside him and says, "Do you have descendants?"
"Are you referring to vampire descendants?" Bennett looks into Constantine's eyes, and after seeing his affirmative gaze, he shakes his head and says, "I am different from those idiots in the Magic Sect. I don't take pride in my own bloodline; everything was just an accident."
"They fanatically pursue immortality, even wanting to bestow immortality upon all humans, constantly creating descendants all over the world. Mary was seduced by them, which led to the creation of that cult called the Blood Moon."
"I heard that Mary is your descendant?" Constantine asks with some caution.
Bennett's eyes dim, and he says, "Yes, she discovered my secret when she was still my wife. She begged me to turn her into a vampire too, so we could be together forever."
"I don't know if she lied to me because she craved immortality, but after I turned her, she became obsessed with blood and longevity, embarking on a path of no return."
Bennett drains the wine in his glass and says, "Now she is the Blood Queen, an important figure in the Magic Sect, and no longer my wife, Mary."
"In other words, you have the ability to turn descendants?"
"I am a special case." Bennett lowers his eyelids and explains, "I remember explaining to you many years ago that humans who have been bitten or had their blood sucked by vampires won't be turned into descendants, but will only become frenzied bloodthirsty monsters. To turn a descendant requires a complex Embrace ritual."
"The vampire that bit me didn't perform the Embrace on me, but you also know that my direct ancestor was once a magician and combined with elves from the Maia world several generations ago, giving his descendants a special bloodline."
"Thus, after I was bitten, I didn't completely lose my sanity. When the toxins infecting my blood were metabolized, I became a blood-kin no different from a descendant."
"I performed the Embrace ritual on Mary, and it succeeded, but I still believe that the powerful strength she possesses now is supplied to her by that group of damn Magic Sect blood-kin. They kill wantonly and suck blood in large quantities, so naturally, they are stronger than me. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been ambushed by them and fallen into a deep sleep."
"I have responsibility for this too." Constantine confesses, "At the time, I was exhausted. If you hadn't stopped the pursuers, we wouldn't have been able to destroy the Blood Moon cult's altar for sacrificing living people, and more people would have been harmed."
"Of course I know, so I don't blame you." Bennett shakes his head and says, "I hid from you just because I really don't have the power to help you now. If you came to me, I couldn't repay your kindness, which would make me feel somewhat guilty."
"It's not a matter of kindness." Constantine sighs and says, "I'm no longer active in the magical world, and finding you this time is just to ask for a small favor, one that doesn't even require your power."
"What do you want to do?"
"I hope you can turn a descendant."
"What?!" Bennett asks in disbelief. He grips his wine glass tightly, stares into Constantine's eyes, and says, "You are a human, and you actually want to turn your own kind into a vampire?! This is evil!"
"Listen to me explain..." Constantine grabs his arm and says, "I was entrusted by someone too, otherwise I wouldn't have spent several nights turning over the entire All-Souls Cemetery just to dig you out..."
"No discussion!" Bennett puts down his glass directly and walks toward the door. As he walks, he looks back and says, "I can strike the cult again, but I will never turn another human into a descendant! Isn't Mary's tragedy enough for one time?"
"Wait, listen to me explain, I think we can..."
"Bang! Crash!"
A strange sound comes from the back door of the Forgotten Bar. The three of them immediately hunch their bodies with some vigilance. Constantine turns his head to look at Jim and says, "You didn't lock the door? Did some animal break in?"
"The east back door of the Forgotten Bar connects to an alley in London. How could there be any wild animals there?"
Jim has already picked up the Night Blade and walked toward the back door, with Constantine and Bennett following behind him.
Before they even reach the back door, Constantine stops Jim and says with a frown, "There's a smell of blood!"
A red light flashes in Bennett's eyes. With a "whoosh," he disperses into a flock of bats, flies toward the scent of blood, and then discovers a youth covered in blood beside the alley at the back door entrance.
Jim rushes over first. He holds the youth's upper body, lays him flat on the ground, lifts his hood, and exclaims, "You, aren't you Master Kazi's apprentice, Bianca?! What happened to you?!"
"Someone... someone attacked... the All-Souls Cemetery..." Apprentice Bianca says intermittently, "Master Kazi... was taken away... by them... I came, I came to seek help..."
Before the young apprentice can finish his words, he breathes his last and lies on the ground, completely losing his vitality.
Jim lifts his clothes to look, and there is a large wound in the abdominal cavity. It had been maintained by magic before, but the excessive injury directly exhausted all the youth's strength, and the moment the magical power dissipated, his vitality dissipated along with it.
"Read his soul directly!" Constantine says without hesitation, "Before his contractor comes, pull his soul out!"
"No, that will shatter his soul!"
"That's still better than being taken away by a demon to be tortured! That old bastard Kazi wouldn't carefully select a contract target for him, nor would he care if he signed an unfair treaty. The demon will torture him until he wishes he were dead!"
A struggle flashes across Jim's face, but he still takes out his long sword, takes a deep breath, and inserts it into Bianca's chest.
The moment the light erupts, the soul is extracted, but soon, a wind carrying a dark aura blows from the end of the alley, and evil whispers resound in everyone's ears.
"Don't touch my sacrifice... No one can break the contract between us... You group of bold humans... You... Constantine?!"
"Sharp-Toothed Boar?!" Constantine stares fixedly at the direction from which the dark wind blows and calls out the demon's name. Then he turns to the other two and says, "I'm afraid Kazi had already sold his apprentice's soul to this greedy demon long ago. Don't talk nonsense with him, take the soul back to the bar!"
Jim pulls out his sword with a "whoosh." Bennett, who has turned into bats, carries Constantine and the three of them into the door at high speed, and with a "bang," closes the door, leaving only the demon's roar outside.
Jim lets out a long breath and says, "It's fine, no one dares to break into the Forgotten Bar, otherwise they would be making an enemy of the entire Maia. We have to see what is recorded in this poor young man's soul. I have a bad feeling."
"Of course, he said his teacher Kazi was taken away. Although Kazi hasn't been a Grand Mage for long, the Skeleton Monarch he contracted gave him very powerful strength, allowing him to control dead bodies, and there are plenty of materials in the All-Souls Cemetery. If he was taken away under these circumstances, then the strength of the opponent is probably beyond imagination."
The few of them clear the tables and chairs in the bar, Jim lays the long sword flat on the ground, kneels halfway on the ground, and begins to chant the spell.
Soon, the power of the soul gathers at the tip of the long sword. Jim touches the tip of the sword with his hand, and scene after scene flashes through Jim's mind.
"... Vampire?" Jim spits out a word.
He and Constantine turn their heads at the same time to look at Bennett. Bennett frowns. Jim looks at him and says, "I saw a woman and many vampires. They were looking for something in the All-Souls Cemetery but didn't find it, and then they took Kazi away. They might be trying to force a confession out of him."
Instantly, Bennett and Constantine look at each other and spit out a name in unison: "Blood-Red Moon!"
"I've heard you mention this name before. What is it?" Jim asks with a frown.
"An international cult organization belonging to vampires." Constantine evaluates it very precisely, "A group of idiots led by an idiot."
Bennett, however, sighs long and says, "The Blood Queen Mary is my wife and also my descendant. She was seduced by the Magic Sect of the blood-kin and founded a cult organization with the goal of vampires occupying the Earth, which is the Blood-Red Moon."
"Since I was turned into a vampire in the sixteenth century, I have been tracking their traces to prevent them from harming ordinary people. Until this century, they not only established a religious organization but also established a legal company, turning ordinary people into terrifying bloodthirsty monsters in the name of recruitment."
"And about ten years ago..." Constantine continues, "At that time, I, a novice, encountered a vampire. He bit to death the owner of a bakery where I often bought bread, and I happened to run into it."
"After investigation, I discovered he was a member of the Blood-Red Moon. On the road to following his tracks to eliminate him, I met Sir Bennett, who had the same goal as me. He had met the ancestor of the Constantine family and smelled a familiar scent from my blood."
"Thus, the two of us traveled together. Originally, we just wanted to eliminate a group of vampire organizations entrenched in London's East End, but unexpectedly, after investigation, we discovered a more terrifying conspiracy of the Blood-Red Moon."
"They built a living sacrifice altar in Haverling with the goal of summoning a blood-red moon to descend, turning all the people in London into vampires." Bennett adds.
"The two of us found the location of the altar, and John deduced the method to break the altar, but just then, we were ambushed. After a bitter battle, we were almost out of strength, and Mary appeared in front of me again, blocking our path."
"I let John go first, let him break the altar and save the ordinary people of London, while I stayed behind to deal with Mary. This is what I must do, because it was I who caused all this tragedy."
Constantine reaches out and pats Bennett on the shoulder, saying, "This is not your fault. The two of us saved London together. Besides, you wounded Mary, greatly weakening the harm of the Blood-Red Moon."
Bennett looks at Constantine with a serious expression and says.
"But they have returned, and this time, Mary will not show mercy. She will definitely kill me and then destroy all of London!"
Forgotten, Bruce, having found a perfect solution to the mountain of shit code in his brain, is leaning by the window reading a book.
Suddenly, a scream comes from downstairs. Bruce looks down and sees a man collapsing in the middle of the street.
Bruce walks out from the window to the balcony, supports the railing, takes a look down, then jumps down and walks to the man's side.
At this moment, he hears a noisy sound in his brain, and when he approaches the man, the noise becomes even louder.
When Bruce turns the man over, he discovers that he has no breath, but his hands are tightly gripping his coat, protecting something in his arms.
Bruce pulls his hands away and then finds a strange black diamond in the inner pocket of his coat.
Just as his hand touches the surface of the black diamond, a voice vaguely rings in his heart: "I have heard the anger in your heart. I will bestow upon you incomparably powerful strength. Take me, let me become one with your soul..."
"Alright, no problem, come on."
"...?"
