Chapter 1506
Unlike the gorgeous palaces above the clouds that many people imagine, Heaven is a complete world, just like Hell, and is divided into many parts. The New Jerusalem and the Garden of Eden that people are familiar with are all among them.
The place where angels are is called the Holy City. The Holy City has twelve gates, each gate is carved with angels, and the city walls have twelve foundations, on which are the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
Entering from the east gate, one can see houses draped with curtains and chosen believers coming and going. They engage in the same twelve professions here as they did on the ground.
After passing through the residential area, one can see an incomparably clear, crystal-bright River of Life flowing through the city. The surface of the river reflects shining light, and trees are planted on both sides of the river. Every month, the trees bear twelve kinds of fruits, and the emerald green leaves are the most precious spirit medicine in the world, capable of healing all people.
Following the River of Life upstream, one arrives at the holy palace composed of three buildings. The halls of this palace are endless, and only holy angels can walk past its throne to the end of the river, which is a garden full of green grass and flowers.
The garden is also infinitely large. This is the dwelling place of angels. Angels returning from guard missions lie on the grass by the river to sleep, or lean against the trees to tidy up each other's feathers, while the chattering newborns prefer to run in groups to the Garden of Eden to catch fish.
There are no flower pavilions or tables and chairs common in the human world in the garden. Angels walk barefoot and sit on the ground. But in the center of the garden, there are octagonal curtains built by the archangels. The archangels often gather here to discuss trivial matters at work.
Michael and Lucifer were sitting in the curtains drinking the spring water of the Fountain of Life with crystal wine glasses. Michael sighed and said: "I certainly know that you came back just to anger Gabriel, but you must have a long-term plan. Is it possible that you want to return to Hell again?"
"I have long been tired of Hell. If it weren't for Wheat's dissuasion, I would have already sealed Hell and driven all the demons out."
Michael shook his head, seemingly quite helpless about Lucifer's willfulness, but he continued: "I have already informed Raphael to let him bring back those newborn angels who fell into Hell under Gabriel's orders, let them bathe in the holy spring again, and be baptized in the holy light, hoping they can return to purity."
"I thought you would judge them directly."
"That would be unjust. They were just deceived by Gabriel. Moreover, the birth of every angel is blessed by the Lord. If they fall so easily, how am I to guard the dignity of Heaven?"
"Rigid." Lucifer evaluated while drinking a sip of spring water, but he didn't refute it either. He wiped his mouth and said: "Wheat's injury hasn't healed yet. I can't stay in Heaven for long, I'll leave in a while."
Michael frowned with some dissatisfaction, not knowing whether it was opposing his relationship with the female demon, or being dissatisfied that Lucifer had just returned and was about to neglect his duties again.
"The responsibility of the Archangel is to guard the Holy City. You cannot leave for too long, otherwise..."
Just as Michael said this, another young angel walked over, saluted Michael, and said: "Your Excellency Michael, Your Excellency Raphael said that all the newborn angels have arrived. He is checking one by one for signs of falling and asked if you want to go over and take a look."
"I won't go." Michael glanced at Lucifer, the implication being that I have to stay here and watch another guy who is even more troublesome than the newborn angels.
After the young angel left, not long after, Raphael's figure flashed past the tree hedge. He was leading a team of young angels towards the palace, clearly going to the source of the holy spring to reflect their souls with spring water and check if they were pure.
Michael didn't pay attention at all and was still saying: "Gabriel caused quite a bit of trouble this time. Newborn angels born in the last millennium all have to be checked. Some who have long been misbehaving, quarreling with brothers and sisters, or sneaking to the human world to cause trouble have to be dealt with together, so as to prevent such things from happening again and again..."
"By the way, Lucifer, if you can contact the demon kings in Hell, ask them if they know which angel has contacted them. Their information must be accurate... Lucifer? Lucifer?! What's wrong with you?"
I saw Lucifer staring at the fence on the tree hedge door, his demeanor very stiff, his expression looking like he had seen a ghost. He opened his mouth a few times, and then said somewhat blankly: "N-nothing, I might be under too much pressure recently and having hallucinations."
Michael immediately frowned. His personality was more inclined to be serious and earnest, and he rarely joked. Seeing Lucifer's expression wasn't fake, he asked: "Are you okay?... Fine, if staying here puts too much pressure on you, I won't force you to leave, but you should be clear that you cannot have any deep relationship with demons, that is unclean..."
Lucifer stood up with a "zeng," directly grabbed Michael's arm, and dragged him towards the outside of the tree hedge.
Michael was dragged up without knowing why. While walking out, Michael asked: "Where are you going? Have you forgotten the way to leave Heaven? Then just find any other angel to lead the way for you. I still have to return to the Garden of Eden..."
"Shut up!... I mean, I think the falling of newborn angels is still quite serious. We must personally watch the baptism ceremony. Relying on that sleepyhead Raphael won't work."
Lucifer turned his head and revealed a stiff, fake smile at Michael. Michael frowned and sized up Lucifer with a suspicious and slightly disgusted gaze, saying: "Since when did you have such a sense of responsibility? Before, when God said that new angels would be born from the holy spring, didn't you want to drain the water to prevent them from bothering you?"
"That's all in the past." Lucifer curled his lips and said: "Have you forgotten when the first batch of newborns arrived, you were bothered by them and losing feathers every day?"
Between the two talking, they had already rushed to the sanctuary where the ceremony was performed. The holy spring flowing from the holy image is the holiest baptismal spring. Newborn angels walk out from the spring water, and the spring water with blessings bestows upon them various beautiful qualities.
The vast majority of newborn angels are very simple, to put it bluntly, a bit stupid. They don't have the omniscient and omnipotent status of archangels created by God himself, and they rarely leave Heaven, where everyone is very simple, so since the birth of newborn angels, the falling events of being deceived, abducted, and polluted have been repeatedly banned.
The best way to check if a newborn angel is polluted is to lead them to the source of the holy spring where they were born. If the surface of the holy spring can reflect their shadows, they are still pure. If not, I'm afraid they have already fallen.
When Lucifer dragged Michael and rushed in, the ceremony was already half over. The newborn angels who passed the test gathered in groups of three or five to discuss recent events. Lucifer could hear them discussing himself, but he didn't have time to care.
Lucifer's gaze was cast towards a figure at the very end of the queue who hadn't been tested yet. When his vision focused on that face, Lucifer completely turned into a sculpture, and then cracked on the spot.
Angels of all kinds crowded around the holy spring, feathers on their wings falling to the ground due to crowding and friction. Most of them had dark hair. Those with brilliant golden hair like Lucifer were a minority. The vast majority were brown and black-brown, and there were also some red-haired angels.
Also unlike the rumors of humans, the pupils of angels didn't have so many flashy colors, nor did they glow. Most were the water-blue described in the "Bible," which is white with a bit of gray. There were also yellow close to gold, and even reddish-brown.
Then one pair of blue eyes seemed particularly prominent. What was even more prominent was the handsome appearance that was not only not inferior but slightly superior among the group of angels.
And what made Lucifer crack on the spot was the name represented by the familiar facial features on this handsome face—Bruce Wayne.
It's hard to say this is Batman, because unlike the dark or even gloomy temperament of Batman known to all archangels, this Bruce was a bit too holy. The holy light surging on his soul was stronger than all the newborn angels present combined.
Michael was a bit strange about what happened to Lucifer, so he looked over following his gaze, and then there was a second cracked sculpture in the sanctuary.
Raphael stood in the center of the holy spring. His dazzling red hair was braided and coiled behind his head. His expression was like all the working people in the world who stay up late to deal with colleagues' messes. His eyebrows were lowered, his expression sleepy, and he repeated his work mechanically.
"Next!" Raphael shouted.
The angel ranked before Bruce walked over, saluted Raphael, walked to the front of the holy spring, lowered his head, and the moment his shadow was reflected on the surface of the holy spring, he breathed a sigh of relief, folded his wings, and walked towards the other side.
And when Bruce walked towards that side, Raphael didn't even look at his face, just waved his hand to signal him to hurry up, so Bruce walked to the front of the holy spring.
Just as he lowered his head to look at the water surface, two "whoosh" sounds came, and the two most famous archangels in Heaven grabbed his arms from left and right.
Lucifer on the left gritted his teeth and said: "Bruce! What are you doing? Is this a place you should come to?"
"Why is there a Batman here?!" Michael's voice was even more terrified than his: "How could Batman come to Heaven?! Who did this good deed?! Are the reception angels crazy?!"
!"
Bruce reached out, grabbed Lucifer's wrist, and pulled it down hard, then moved his arms to shake off Michael, rolled his eyes, and said: "Can't you see for yourself how I came? Get out of the way, don't block me from performing the ceremony."
After speaking, he was about to walk forward to look at the surface of the holy spring. Lucifer grabbed him, was slightly stunned, then widened his eyes, looked at Michael opposite, and said: "It's Gabriel... Gabriel gave his wings to him!"
"God! Look at the good deed you did!" Michael hurriedly made a series of prayer gestures on his chest, quite angrily saying: "This is the result of you coming back specifically to anger Gabriel! He even wanted to blow up Heaven! Hurry up and think of a way!"
Bruce frowned, shook off Lucifer's arm grabbing him again, and said quite dissatisfied: "Can't you wait until I finish the ceremony to talk about anything?"
"Wait a moment." Lucifer nimbly darted in front of Bruce, blocking Bruce's path with the holy spring.
Michael followed suit and blocked in front of Bruce, but he didn't know why, so he lowered his voice and asked Lucifer: "What's wrong? Why block him..."
"If you don't block him, what if a Joker jumps out of the holy spring in a while?!"
Michael just wanted to say it was impossible when he saw the Batman opposite "cut" and curl his lips, as if his conspiracy had been dismantled.
"Haven't you discovered it yet? This Batman is different... he... he..." Lucifer stammered for a long time and couldn't find a suitable adjective. In the end, he gritted his teeth and said.
"He's a bit too trendy!"
