Chapter 1516: New York's Annoyance (Part II)

~11 min read 2,021 words

Schiller and Peter finished dinner together in the small clinic in Hell's Kitchen. It wasn't until the sky turned completely dark that they both boarded the flying shuttle.

Peter was still looking worried, obviously thinking about how to solve George's problem. Schiller gave him some psychological counseling, but the effect was not great.

Spider-Man's moral bottom line is unshakable; he would rather struggle himself than find problems in others.

Peter got off the shuttle at the Queens station. Schiller stood on the shuttle and waved goodbye to him, watching Peter's back merge into the lights of thousands of homes.

Kind people are destined to face more troubles at every stage of growth, but Spider-Man can always solve his own troubles. After all, he is one of the few superheroes in New York who has both a moral bottom line and a healthy mind.

Thinking this way, Schiller returned to Arkham Asylum, only to find another guest waiting for him there. It was Eddie Brock, and he had brought a large pile of manuscripts and materials.

The two sat down in the high-ceilinged reception area on the second floor, and Eddie said straight to the point: "ABC wants to film a documentary about the solar system development plan. They contacted Tony Stark, and Tony found me."

Eddie pushed the manuscript at his hand forward and said: "This is the planning draft. You can take a look first."

Schiller picked up the manuscript and saw the name of the project written on the first page—"The Sun Chaser."

Eddie searched in his briefcase and said: "They want to base it on the important figures of the solar system development plan, starting from their daily work, to show the public the real side of the backbone of humanity, trace their growth history, and tell everyone how they walked this road and finally embraced the sun."

Eddie handed over another list, pointed to it, and said to Schiller: "This is the list of project team members. The personnel structure and technology of the project team are very mature. Director Errol Morris has won various documentary awards, and his style of interviews, historical facts, and restored performances is also very suitable for this type of subject matter."

"Who exactly are they filming?" Schiller asked.

Eddie sighed lightly and said: "You also know that they can't film this into a real epic; no one would watch that. To be slightly entertaining, naturally, they have to film controversial figures."

"Tony Stark?"

"He is the bullseye." Eddie nodded and continued: "Captain America is also on the list, as well as the rising star in the scientific research world, Peter Parker. His background and growth resume fit the tone of the American Dream. The President wants him."

"Who else?"

"Ma Te." Eddie pushed his black-rimmed glasses, took a sip of coffee, and said: "A disabled person who is also a lawyer is the same as Peter Parker, and there has to be a black person."

"Don't tell me it's Nick."

"Of course not. Vampire hunter Eric is both black and has a bizarre growth experience. Mysterious creatures like vampires bring their own topic volume, and his personality is good, and his conversation is very humorous, which can ease some overly serious atmosphere."

"Then what about women?" Schiller asked.

"First exclude Natasha, who has the greatest credit, because she is a former Soviet, and agents are not suitable for television."

Eddie placed his hands on the table, clasped his fingers, and said: "There are a few candidates now: Dr. Dora who previously served the Life Foundation, Jessica who is becoming famous among superheroes, Jean Grey, a teacher at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, etc."

"The characters in the documentary need to have a certain story. It doesn't have to be just bizarre life experiences or tortuous growth experiences; it can also be ideological concepts or the current situation of still being in a predicament."

"These candidates are all good." Schiller evaluated, but Eddie knew he had more to say, so he just listened quietly.

"Including the candidates for male heroes previously proposed, they are all quite good. But I think the essence of a documentary is to reveal to the public some stories or characters they are not familiar with, rather than following the trend and filming stories that have been repeated thousands of times in newspaper headlines."

Eddie sighed deeply and said: "Which director didn't have such a dream when graduating from college? Just like which media person didn't want to reveal the truth to the public when they were just starting out?"

"The film must have topicality because only topics and traffic can bring economic benefits and satisfy investors. Only explosive news can bring stock growth. Even if I didn't choose economic benefits ten thousand times, I can understand that those who chose it want to rely on it to fill their stomachs."

"Then we can slightly change the investment form of this documentary." Schiller waved his fingers lightly. He looked down at the manuscript on the table and said: "The intention of this project is quite good. We have too many things that need to be announced to the public, but also need to be done gradually and subtly."

"Instead of making it into a biography, it's better to make it into a group biography, classifying heroes into different groups, showing their stories from multiple perspectives. For example, the Avengers led by Captain America and Iron Man, Ma Te and his students, the Spider-Army with many Spider-Men, the Brotherhood of Mutants and Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, or even the Sanctum Sanctorum and Kamar-Taj, or Asgard."

Eddie widened his eyes slightly and said: "But do you know how much investment this requires?"

"So this cannot be handed over to a TV station to film, but we have to do it ourselves." Schiller stood up, walked behind Eddie, came to the railing at the high-ceilinged place, and pressed one hand on Eddie's shoulder and said: "Don't you have a director's dream?"

Schiller clearly felt the muscles on Eddie's shoulders stiffen. He turned around and continued: "Stark Group, S. H. I. E. L. D., and even the entire solar system development plan will help you with all their strength. You won't have any financial troubles, and even the protagonists of these stories will cooperate with you to restore the performances as much as possible."

"We have so many stories to film, so thrilling, so ups and downs. The people who experienced these stories are the best interviewees. They can tell their legendary lives through your lens."

"How did Iron Man change from a playboy to the general person in charge of the solar system development plan? How did Captain America experience two era changes and find his position? What is the genius researcher Peter Parker worrying about recently? And how is Asgard, which only existed in the myth kingdom in the past, troubled by family affairs?"

Schiller felt Eddie's heartbeat and breathing speed up. He withdrew his hand, sat down opposite Eddie again, looked at him, and said: "I can ensure that during your filming process, the doors of any office, laboratory, or activity venue will be open to you."

"You will have the best filming equipment, the most perfect filming venues, and the best photographers—Spider-Men. You can give full play to your talents."

"Of course, I think no excellent documentary director would refuse to participate in such a documentary. The production team is destined to go down in history."

Before even half of the water in the cup was finished, Eddie left in a hurry. It could be seen that he was very excited now, because Venom didn't even come out to make trouble once during the conversation. Presumably, the dopamine secreted in Eddie's brain had already made him full.

When it was time to sleep at night, Schiller arrived at the dream school through the base of the dream world of the Light Alliance. Now it has further expanded. There are more students and teachers. When he walked toward his office, students kept greeting him.

Schiller nodded to them. He came to the bookshelf next to his office and began to search. After a while, he said with some doubt: "I remember putting a few notes written by Kamar-Taj mages here. Could it be that they were borrowed by which student last time?"

Schiller shook his head, sighed, left the office, and began to walk upstairs. He came to Strange's office, but didn't see him in the office. There were only two students helping him organize the bookshelf.

"Where is Dean Strange?" Schiller asked the two students.

One of the students was still a bit surprised and said: "Didn't the Dean tell you? He asked for leave and might not come for the next month."

Schiller looked a bit surprised because he really hadn't heard about this, so he had to leave the dream world, sleep until dawn, and then go to the Sanctum Sanctorum to find Strange.

He thought it might be that some important work in the Sanctum Sanctorum had tied Strange up, leaving him no time to teach in the dream world, but he didn't expect the front desk of the Sanctum Sanctorum to tell him that Strange wasn't there either.

Then Schiller went to Asgard for a lap and didn't find Strange, but found Loki. The two sat in the reception area of the Immortal Palace. Loki asked the waiter to pour a glass of wine for Schiller, looking like they were going to have a long talk.

"Shi Difen hasn't been very well recently." Loki made Schiller frown as soon as he opened his mouth. He took a sip of wine and said: "The problem lies in his family. He and his brother have some contradictions."

"Shi Difen is now successful, of course he hopes his brother can enjoy a better life in New York, but his brother is not adapted and has always wanted to go back to the farm in his hometown. The two parted on bad terms."

"But some time ago, his brother had a car accident. When he was sent to the hospital for treatment, he was diagnosed with liver problems, suspected to be hereditary. That small place in their hometown can't cure this disease. Shi Difen of course wants him to stay and enjoy the medical conditions in New York."

Schiller sighed. Without Loki continuing, he could imagine the scene that followed. Strange had an obsession with this matter because he felt that when his father was sick, it was delayed in a small place, otherwise it wouldn't have deteriorated to that point.

But Strange's father and his brother Victor both made a living by farming and hadn't received much higher education. Farmers all over the world have something in common. In their view, harvesting grain is more important than heaven. They have to watch their own farm to be at ease. If they can endure the pain, they will endure it. If they can't, they will take painkillers.

Strange is a top surgeon and a genius. He has been smooth sailing since his debut and hasn't encountered so many strange patients like general practitioners or internal medicine doctors. In his view, seeking treatment when sick is human nature, but he didn't expect that there were medical blind people in his own family. One can imagine how angry he would be.

"You have to go and persuade him." Loki looked at Schiller and said: "You also know that Shi Difen's personality is a bit extreme. He is a person who will not stop until he achieves his goal, and unlike us, he sometimes doesn't weigh the gains and losses, only seeking peace of mind. When he goes crazy, he is crazier than anyone else."

"I thought he was busy recently, so he didn't show up. Who knew he was actually taking care of his family? This is my dereliction of duty." Schiller stood up and said: "I will go and see him. Do you know where he is?"

"Presbyterian Hospital, Special Care Ward 103. Give him my regards for me." ===== CHAPTER 1517 =====
