Chapter 1909: U: Beyond the Great Event (35)

~10 min read 1,986 words

The two entangled figures fall heavily to the ground, and the moment they land, the expression of shock on Bat-Bane's face is unparalleled.

Because what truly makes contact with the ground is Schiller's back.

He watches helplessly as Schiller's upper back reflexively bounces the moment it touches the ground. When it falls back down, his neck is raised high, and then it falls limply to the ground.

Blood gushes from his mouth, his pupils dilate violently, and the adrenaline secretion at the moment of near-death reaches its peak, with his heart rate exploding accordingly.

Bat-Bane scrambles to climb up from the ground. When he stares closely at Schiller's expression, he sees extreme excitement from extreme pain.

"Haha... Hahaha..."

Schiller is like a drug addict who has gone crazy. The continuous laughter causes more blood and visceral fragments to gush from his mouth, but he simply cannot stop.

And Batman and Seeing Natasha have long since rushed over. They hear Schiller say, "Why do you think... that morbidity is a crazy, indiscriminate attack..."

Schiller's voice comes, filled with laughter. That extreme excitement and hallucination make him look like a simple child—immature, malicious, and indulgent.

The three of them are stunned together.

"You weren't crazy from the start?!" Seeing Natasha raises her tone, staring at Schiller, "You didn't lose your mind at all, then you..."

Schiller opens his arms with great difficulty, using body language to signal to everyone why he did this.

Batman turns his head. The entire arena is a mess.

This doesn't refer to the environment, but to everyone's expressions.

Including them, everyone's expression is confused, puzzled, shocked...

Bat-Bane finally recovers from the shock of being a participant.

If Schiller wasn't crazy from the start, and those indiscriminate crazy attacks were just things he pretended to do, then why on earth did he do that?

The most intuitive result is that no matter how the owner of this arena arranged the first round of the game, he was destined to fail his goal.

There is no interrogation of human nature, no distinction between good and evil, no screaming, crying, sadness, anger, or insults that should have appeared on this occasion...

Everyone is shivering.

Because of the arrival of this extremely disorderly, chaotic, and crazy madness, because of the arrival of an existence they cannot understand and cannot name.

When the Lord descends, the lambs are not treated according to their thinness, strength, kindness, evil, or past sins. The only thing that differentiates them from their kind is fear, submission, and reverence.

Bat-Bane's expression becomes complex, because he realizes this is Schiller's way of breaking the game.

"Haha... Hahahaha..." Schiller laughs again, but he seems to be choked by his own blood. He coughs violently a few times, but spits out even more blood.

Schiller's ribs are almost all broken, his lumbar spine is fractured, and now only his limbs can barely move. None of his internal organs are intact, and rib fragments have pierced his lungs, but he still laughs non-stop.

"If a performance... is destined to start boringly, then I must make it end with a shock." Schiller mutters to himself, his mind wandering.

"Batman... look at me..." Schiller, full of blood, says unclearly, "Listen... your heart..."

Bat-Bane kneels halfway, looking at Schiller in shock, and says, "So you didn't lose control at all, then why did you..."

Schiller extends a hand with great difficulty, places a finger on his lips, turns to look at Bat-Bane, and says, "Shh..."

Bat-Bane quiets down, but his gaze doesn't change at all. He stares straight at Schiller, as if watching some great art performance.

"Listen... listen!!!"

Schiller's suddenly raised tone makes Bat-Bane stiffen. He asks, "What? Listen to what?"

"Listen... to your heart..." Schiller's voice carries the sound of bubbles from breathing in water. Blood constantly gushes from his mouth, making his voice sound like a call from the deep sea.

Bat-Bane places his hand on his chest in a daze, feeling his own heartbeat, and in the gaps of that pulsation, he hears Schiller's heavy breathing caused by injury, his gradually lowering heart rate, and his gradually disappearing temperature.

"What is that..." Schiller becomes like he is talking in a dream.

"What did you hear..." he keeps asking.

"I..." Bat-Bane frowns deeply.

"Tell me! What did you hear!"

"Your pain."

"Wrong! Completely wrong!" Schiller grits his teeth, supporting his body as if surging with endless power, and says grimly, "It's your pain. There is a wound on your heart. That was left by a knife..."

Schiller falls back to the original spot again, his fingers spreading out powerlessly, and he says with his last breath, "That is a knife that belongs to me. Its name is 'Guilt'."

"... It is precise, elegant, and fatal."

Looking at Schiller's almost completely dilated pupils, Bat-Bane is completely panicked. Batman also can't stand still. Seeing Natasha rushes forward and places her hand on Schiller's carotid artery.

Ten seconds later, the female agent lets out a sharp, explosive cry: "He's for real!!!!!!"

"First aid! Prepare for first aid!" Batman roars. He immediately takes out a syringe from his bat-suit, preparing to inject Schiller.

"Oh my, how did it become like this?" The Gem Man's gloating voice comes from the side, "Medicine has very limited effect here. It seems your companion is going to die."

The Gem Man casually puts the cage aside, spreads his hands, and says, "See? This is the consequence of not playing according to the rules. What a thrilling and exciting game rule. This is my design... wait, what is that?!"

The Gem Man stares at a mass of dark clouds suddenly surging over the horizon. It is much thicker than the dark clouds originally covering the arena, and it is like a giant abyss mouth, swallowing the original dark clouds almost instantly and occupying the sky over the entire arena.

The survivors in the cage look down at their palms in a daze and say, "It's raining? But here..."

Suddenly, Bat-Bane lets out a painful whimper. He clutches his neck tightly, takes two steps back, and kneels on the ground.

He supports the ground with one hand and clutches his neck desperately with the other, as if trying to stop something from gushing out of his throat.

"Uh... uh!! Haha... no!!!"

"Wait a second! What the hell is going on?!" The Gem Man roars angrily, "How did the environmental system get out of control?! How could..."

Batman immediately looks down at Schiller, muttering to himself, "He is the Joker... he is the Joker! Batman killed the Joker!"

Then he looks sharply at Bat-Bane, a trace of horror inevitably appearing in his eyes.

Batman immediately steps forward and roars at the Gem Man, "Heal him quickly! Heal Schiller quickly!! Otherwise, it will be too late!!!"

"Why..." The Gem Man is at a loss, clearly something has exceeded his control.

Bat-Bane, kneeling on the ground to the side, slowly straightens his body. His eyes have rolled back to show only the whites, and the muscles on his face twitch uncontrollably. He slowly extends a finger into his own mouth.

"Heal him quickly!!!!!"

"Heal!!"

A pillar of light falls with a "swish," and Schiller is instantly restored.

Bat-Bane falls backward as if shot by a gun.

"Rumble."

A dull thunder comes from the horizon. The thick dark clouds finally swallow the last trace of light, followed by the expected torrential rain.

Everyone is drenched to the bone. Batman's armor glitters with a cold luster in the rain, and Seeing Natasha's red hair sticks to her sexy face.

The restored Schiller doesn't stand up but lies on the ground in the rain with his arms open. Bat-Bane also lies on the ground like a fish that has landed on shore, motionless. The people in the cage are all curled up in the corner, shivering and hiding from the rain.

Finally, only the little boy runs over, stepping on the rainwater, and tugs at Batman's cape.

Batman turns his head to look at him. The little boy stares straight at him without speaking, then beckons to him. Batman squats down, and the little boy whispers in his ear, "Thank you for saving my mother."

Batman looks at him, strokes his cheek with slightly rough fingers, and the little boy asks in a simple tone, "Do you kill people?"

Batman shakes his head.

The little boy immediately lowers his head, looking a bit nervous and at a loss.

Schiller, who was originally playing dead on the ground, immediately sits up with a carp-like leap, stands up, walks to Batman's side, pushes him away, touches the little boy's head, and asks, "Why ask that?"

The little boy purses his lips and says, "My dad always hits us, and my mom killed him, but she also said killing is wrong."

Schiller shows a thoughtful expression. Just when Batman thinks he will say something, Schiller says nothing, touches the little boy's head, and takes him into his arms.

Seeing Natasha helps Bat-Bane walk over, limping. Bat-Bane covers his neck with his sleeve, his face full of pain, coughing incessantly, the dazed look on his face not yet fully faded.

"Cough, cough, cough, what the hell is going on? Why do I feel like there's some voice in my head?"

Bat-Bane extends a hand and hammers the side of his head hard. He says, "I just had the most terrifying nightmare in the world. I dreamed that I tore open the corners of my mouth, God..."

Batman turns to look at Schiller. Schiller looks up at him, but they are very tacitly silent.

Just then, a roar of fury comes from above.

"What the hell did you do?!!!"

The Gem Man finally stands up, allowing everyone in the arena to see his full appearance. It is a magnified version of a gem robot giant, standing up as if it were a mountain reaching into the clouds, and looking up, one can only vaguely see the boundary of his chin.

"The arena system is all out of control. I can't even control the weather. What the hell did you damn humans do?!!!"

Batman hears a trace of anxiety hidden in his tone, so he immediately speaks up, "You ruined your own stupid game. I said it long ago, from the game rules you designed, one can see you are someone with no sense of humor. Schiller is right. Discussing human nature with you is completely meaningless."

"What did you say?!!!"

The Gem Man is already driven mad by anger. He ignores everything and raises a foot to stomp toward the arena. The crowd immediately lets out terrified screams.

But just as the pitch-black giant sole is about to land on the arena, a sharp alarm sounds from afar.

"Murderer No. 3 violates the rules. Warning once, warning twice, warning three times... Warning ineffective, preparing for expulsion!"

A thick laser beam descends from the sky, and the Gem Man turns into fly ash amidst screams.

The laser disperses the dark clouds, and the rain stops.

The bright yellow bus, washed clean by the rainwater, shines in the sunlight. It stops at the entrance of the arena in the humid air.

The cage is opened, and people walk out, helping each other. There is no fighting, no cursing, only the luck and exhaustion of surviving a disaster.

Watching the three people in front board the bus, Batman stands at the bus door, turns to look at the little boy rushing to the arena entrance, and the little boy sees his cape turn into a flowing golden river in the sunlight after the rain.

Batman is silent for a while and then says, "Killing is wrong, but don't tell anyone."

The arena gate closes, and all the survivors are teleported back in the light. The bus drives slowly into the distance, driving into the boundless thick fog again. ===== CHAPTER 1910 =====
