Chapter 1912: U: Beyond the Great Event (38)

~10 min read 1,882 words

Schiller places both hands on the tabletop between them, looking at the female doctor with a very serious expression.

Dr. Aveline is stunned for a moment, then shows that familiar helpless expression again, places both hands on the tabletop, looks into Schiller's eyes, and answers.

"Bandura mentioned in his social learning theory..."

She just says this much when Schiller sighs deeply.

Bruce, outside the screen, shivers involuntarily.

Lord Superman, because he has been paying attention to Bruce's state, immediately discovers his abnormality and looks at this young man with some confusion, asking, "What are you shivering for?"

"Nothing, conditioned reflex. This means this female doctor is definitely answering wrong."

"But she hasn't even started answering yet!"

"That means she was wrong the moment she opened her mouth."

Dr. Aveline also stops, looking a bit confused.

Schiller finishes sighing, taps the tabletop lightly with his fingertip, and says, "The social reciprocal determinism in social learning theory is a relatively independent theory. There is no need to mutually verify it with any social learning mechanism. What on earth are you trying to explain?"

Dr. Aveline's face turns ugly.

"And the interlocking determinants are interpersonal factors and 'non-social' environmental factors. You wouldn't really want to expound on social environmental factors, would you?"

Dr. Aveline's face turns even uglier.

"And most importantly." Schiller pushes his glasses and says, "Do you know what a systematic review means? It means that if this were really a proposition worth discussing, you wouldn't be able to finish talking about it even if you talked for three days and three nights here. At the very least, three papers would have to be published. Do you think this is a short-answer question on a university exam?"

Dr. Aveline's face has completely stiffened.

Schiller sighs again and says, "If your heart truly believes I am a mental patient, rather than a true master of psychology, then you don't have to answer my question at all."

"You would answer my academic question so seriously only because you know the accurate answer, which means you know I possess the relevant knowledge. Then answer me: why would you think a mental patient possesses such knowledge?"

Schiller lowers his eyelids and says lightly, "Maybe I just saw this question in a newspaper in the recreation corner and read it out casually, without knowing the answer at all."

"But you would answer, assuming I know the answer, and thinking that if you said the right answer, I would really believe you are an excellent psychologist. Miss Aveline, why do you want to gain my trust?"

Dr. Aveline is about to speak when Schiller's face becomes even darker than hers. He says, "Didn't your teachers teach you that the first rule of interning in a mental hospital is to never listen to what a mental patient says?"

Dr. Aveline's face stiffens for a while, then she opens her mouth with a low voice that sounds completely unlike her, "Fine, Professor Schiller, I think we can..."

Suddenly, Schiller's body twitches. He places one hand on the table, leans his body forward sharply, and takes a deep breath as if lying on the table.

In the Tower of Thought, the Superego stares at the rapidly rising mental excitement reading and shouts, "Calm down! Otherwise, you'll..."

"Boom!"

The entire floor of the tower shakes violently. Countless Schillers in corridors and rooms are knocked down. Greed rushes out of a room, lies on the patio railing, and shouts down: "What's going on? Why is there an earthquake again?! Did Batman break in???"

"Morbid! Morbid's excitement is too high!" The Superego shouts toward the door, "They are hitting the ceiling, which is our foundation!"

"Boom! Boom, boom!"

"Gray Fog! Lower the heart rate!"

"I can't! I can't get out!"

"... Arrogance! Arrogance! Go get the medicine quickly!"

With a "bang," Schiller's trembling hand smashes the table. He leans forward sharply and hits the wall on one side of the consultation room.

Dr. Aveline is stunned. She shouts with trembling hands, "Are you okay? You..."

"What do you mean 'are you okay'?! Didn't your teachers teach you?! Use the sedative!!!" Schiller shouts.

With another "bang," Schiller's shoulder hits the wall, creating a pit, and then another hit. The chandelier sways violently and "clatters" down in front of Dr. Aveline's feet.

Dr. Aveline staggers to the door and shouts to the outside, "Nurse, prepare sedative medicine, hurry!!!"

"Call the orderlies! Bring the straitjacket and the fixed bed! The teacher who signed your internship certificate should go run for President of the United States!"

Dozens of seconds later, the medical staff finally arrives, but the hospital bed they brought is one size larger than the door and can't be pushed in at all.

They didn't notice when they were pushing it in. Four strong men pushed hard, and the hospital bed got stuck in the door. As a result, now people can't get in either.

Schiller, leaning against the wall, lets out a painful groan and shouts, "You guys should really form a political party and run for the general election this year. That way you can get the hospital bed stuck in the door of the parliament and let them know what the benefits of raising medical insurance standards are!"

"Then what should we do now?!" Dr. Aveline shouts.

"Just stand there and wait for me to recover!"

"What else can we do?!"

Schiller lets out another painful low roar, takes a deep breath, grits his teeth, and says, "Climb over the bed!!! Are you guys idiots?!!"

The few people blocked by the bed finally remember. The first two decisively climb onto the bed, then climb down to enter the room, and rush straight toward Schiller.

Halfway there, they remember they are orderlies, not doctors, and don't know how to administer sedatives at all, so they turn back until the two nurses behind also climb in.

The four of them scramble to pin Schiller down and finally administer the medicine. By this time, Schiller's excited state has basically disappeared on its own.

He walks unsteadily to the hospital bed, doesn't even look at Dr. Aveline beside him, closes his eyes, and falls asleep.

When he wakes up again, Schiller finds himself lying in a hospital ward. He feels a bit of a headache, but soon realizes this is a normal reaction to the recovery period of mental excitement.

At this moment, a hand places a glass of water in front of him. Schiller looks up and sees a chubby black nurse. Schiller is just about to get up when he finds himself fixed to the bed.

"Can you untie the left restraint for me? Madam."

The black nurse is just about to speak when Schiller says, "My dominant hand is my right hand. My left hand has no strength, and without the chest restraint being removed, I cannot get up, nor can I break free. You just need to raise the hospital bed and let me have a drink of water, okay?"

The black nurse seems to be hearing this kind of statement for the first time. She hesitates for a moment but still says, "We have rules that we can't untie the restraints at will, but I can help you raise the hospital bed. I'll help you drink the water, okay?"

Schiller nods without saying anything more.

When the hospital bed is raised, Schiller instinctively looks down and sees his hand fixed in the restraint. He sighs deeply.

"What's wrong? Are you uncomfortable?" the nurse asks.

"Nothing. I'm just thinking, the hospital even has rules against untying a single-hand restraint, but they haven't cut my nails in seven years of hospitalization. I think they could even go to the Supreme Court."

The black nurse shows a confused expression.

"Don't be confused, Madam. You guys are so good at listening, why don't you go be talk show audience members?"

Schiller drinks two sips of water handed by the black nurse, and then sees her take out a medicine tray.

Schiller turns his head away.

"What's wrong?" The nurse expresses confusion at his action again.

"Nothing. As long as I don't look, the prescription and the medication method don't have any problems. This can significantly increase life expectancy."

The nurse hands over the medicine. Schiller doesn't even look, pours it all into his mouth, drinks a large mouthful of water, and swallows the medicine.

The nurse seems shocked by his willingness to take the medicine. Schiller falls asleep again after taking it.

This sleep is very deep and restful. When he is about to wake up, he vaguely hears Dr. Aveline's voice outside the door, mentioning the name Bruce Wayne in her words.

So, the first moment Schiller opens his eyes, he looks at Dr. Aveline at the door. Before Dr. Aveline can say anything, Schiller looks at her and asks, "Did you bring Batman over too?"

"Yes, Dr. Schiller. Actually, he..."

Schiller, under the shocked gaze of the nurse, directly pulls one hand out of the restraint, pulls the quilt under his body over his head, and says, "I'm not any doctor, I'm just a mental patient. I'm going to sleep. You go away quickly."

After saying this, he doesn't move anymore. Soon, even breathing comes from under the quilt, showing that Schiller has completely fallen into a deep sleep, leaving only the doctor and the nurse staring at each other.

And in another consultation room in the hospital, it is brightly lit at this moment. The doctors sitting opposite have changed several times, but the patient sitting on the other side remains unchanged.

He has a very handsome face and is currently expounding on why he is not a mental patient with extremely clear logic, highly inflammatory language, and a mental state that doesn't know fatigue.

And in the other two wards, a man who looks like his twin brother but is older than him, and a red-haired woman, have long since fallen into a deep sleep.

When dawn breaks the next day, Schiller, who had a good night's sleep, stretches. His restraints haven't been untied, but he is actually very adept at making all kinds of movements he wants while fixed by restraints.

The sound of a cart rings outside the door, and Schiller knows the nurse is here to deliver medicine again. Schiller yawns and turns his head to look out the window.

It is the same black nurse from last night. She greets Schiller as soon as she walks in. Schiller doesn't respond, so she asks, "What are you looking at?"

"Looking at the scenery."

The nurse has nothing to say. She feeds Schiller some water again and tells him, "Your last diagnosis results will come out this afternoon. If there are no problems, the restraints can be untied."

"Okay, I know. Thank you."

Schiller swallows all the medicine in one go again, drinks a few mouthfuls of water, and closes his eyes to prepare for sleep.

But just then, there is a knock on the door. Schiller squints and looks out, and standing by the door is the main universe's Batman.

"Hello, Nurse. My attending physician suggested I relax more. Can I come in and take a look?"

"Yes, please..."

"No, don't come in. I'm going to sleep." ===== CHAPTER 1913 =====
