Chapter 1925: U: Beyond the Great Event (51)
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"
The scream coming from downstairs made Batman and Seeing Natasha in the room stiffen at the same time.
About a few minutes ago, Batman lured Gluttony away with his own blood, and Seeing Natasha came to the emergency blood bank, found blood bags, and splashed them all at the stairwell on this floor.
Gluttony was indeed attracted away, and the two were able to catch their breath. After a brief discussion, they decided to continue going up.
Batman explained it this way: "Although it might be more dangerous upstairs, obviously hesitation or repeatedly going up and down stairs is the most dangerous, because that might repeatedly arouse Schiller's vigilance."
"And based on my understanding of Schiller, if this game isn't completely chaotic but has rules to follow, its difficulty must be unimaginably high. If we stay in one place for a long time, it's very likely that something bad will happen."
Seeing Natasha also agreed with this judgment and added, "The words of the Schiller who came before can't be fully trusted either. No one has ever guaranteed to us that any rule is absolutely reliable. Although he looks like a friendly party, what if he's a liar?"
"So it's better to rely on our own deduction for the rules, and not lightly believe anything any Schiller says, even if it's our teammate Schiller."
Batman nodded and sighed, saying, "Now another Batman is with Schiller. I suspect he has already been fooled."
Seeing Natasha took out dressing supplies from the medical bag she was carrying and said while dressing Batman's wound, "How do you think Schiller will fool him?"
"Misleading." Batman could say the answer without thinking, "Schiller won't tell 100% lies, nor will he tell 100% truth. He will only tell part of the truth, but hide some of the most important truths. That's enough to make another Batman pay a bloody price."
Seeing Natasha looked at the floor. She understood that Batman meant the scream just now should have been Bat-Bane's.
"The younger me is more addicted to thinking, obsessed with chasing the truth. Once I start reasoning, I easily immerse myself in it, forgetting the danger I'm facing in the real world." Batman said in a deep tone, "I guess he will also make such a mistake. It's very likely that in order to safely reason out the truth, he found a place he thought was safe, stayed there for a long time, and was found by some dangerous guy."
"Then we have to leave here as soon as possible." Seeing Natasha shook her head and said, "Even if I'm not a great detective, I know that in a building with more than one Schiller, there's no safe place in this building at all."
"Very happy to see you again." Schiller's voice rang in their ears again. Batman and Seeing Natasha turned their heads and saw that reflection of the half-long hair appeared on the window glass.
"Want to talk to me about my other personalities?" The half-long-haired Schiller's tone was very relaxed. He said, "One of them has already caught the prey, and he gave him a good time!"
"What happened to the other Batman?" Seeing Natasha frowned.
"Don't worry, he didn't die, he just might have to suffer a bit." The Schiller in the reflection shrugged and said, "You'd better leave here quickly, otherwise don't blame me for not reminding you."
After dressing Batman's wound, the wound on Seeing Natasha's arm was almost healed. She wrapped it with a bandage casually, and the two set off quickly.
And Schiller's voice kept ringing in their ears.
"There are four personalities worth noting. They are not the same, some strong and some weak, but they all represent primitive desires."
"Hunting represents human desire to chase, Art represents human desire for aesthetics, Gluttony represents human appetite, and Abuse represents human desire to abuse."
"Wait." Seeing Natasha interrupted him and said, "I can understand the first three, but the last one... normal humans shouldn't have this thing, right?"
"On the contrary, everyone has it." Schiller sighed lightly and said, "The instinct to demand response from others is actually the instinct of the desire to abuse. Humans spend their whole lives seeking attention, letting others understand their need to demand emotion, and changing others' behavior to satisfy themselves. In essence, it is abusing."
"Sounds like something a baby would do."
"That's the fact. Babies manipulate others through crying to satisfy their most basic needs, but as they grow older, this manipulation becomes more obscure, and the needs change from the most basic survival materials to money, power, and emotion."
"But the fact that we feel happy because others change their practices or attitudes for our needs is itself the instinct of the desire to abuse at work."
"No need to discuss the essence." Batman opened his mouth and said, "Talk about their action patterns."
"The pattern is hidden in the essence."
After the backs of the two disappeared at the end of the corridor, another figure stumbled into the preparation room they had just stayed in. Judging from the body outline, it was Bat-Bane.
In the pitch-black preparation room, Bat-Bane reached out and groped. When the moonlight outside the window flashed, his true face was revealed.
All the skin from above Bat-Bane's right eye to the left jaw angle, and then to the left collarbone, had disappeared, becoming blood-red. Blood soaked most of his upper garment.
He found the first-aid kit at top speed, but not for dressing. Dressing was useless for this degree of injury.
Bat-Bane found the alcohol for disinfection inside at top speed, poured it down from the top of his head along the wound, and then ignited the flame with a lighter he had found elsewhere.
"Whoosh," the flame ignited on him illuminated the entire room. Until the blood from his bitten tongue flowed out, he only spat out low whimpers.
The flame burned for about dozens of seconds. Bat-Bane immediately began to roll on the ground, taking off his upper garment to press the flames.
He didn't pour much alcohol, so the flames were quickly extinguished. At this moment, the wound where his skin had been peeled off was charred black, but the bleeding was successfully stopped.
Schiller's figure appeared in the reflection behind Bat-Bane again. Bat-Bane stood in place with his arms hanging down, panting heavily, and slowly clenched one of his fists.
"You aren't as angry as you imagined." Schiller's voice echoed in the room: "And you are feeling terrified and flustered because of this."
Bat-Bane's lips trembled.
"You found that you aren't angry enough at my absurd behavior, but the reason you aren't angry isn't because I'm not evil enough, but precisely because I'm too evil."
"This hurts, right?" Schiller's hand was on Bat-Bane's shoulder again, as if touching his wound, "Precisely because you know how much this hurts, you know what kind of pain the fish you saw in the hallucination went through before it died."
"The pain you personally experienced smoothed your anger." Schiller's hand was on Bat-Bane's neck, covering the wound on his neck at this moment. Although Bat-Bane didn't feel any touch, he actually had the illusion that the skin there was being rewoven.
"You know that not everyone in this world is trapped by a heart of justice and cannot fight fire with fire. You saw how I treated my enemies with the most cruel means, and you also experienced how cruel I am, and this makes you feel happy."
"I didn't." Bat-Bane took a deep breath and denied, "I will never feel happy about cruel acts."
"Batman, look forward, open your eyes and look."
Bat-Bane looked forward involuntarily. He heard Schiller say: "That day, you saw your parents lying there, and the muzzle of the gunman's gun was still smoking."
Bat-Bane's hands began to tremble, because he really saw two corpses in the darkness of the room, and another black shadow, that black shadow he would never forget, was holding a gun, and a wisp of white smoke was coming out of the muzzle.
Suddenly Bat-Bane saw that the man's hat had fallen off, revealing his face. The last time Bat-Bane saw this face was on the news that the murderer Joe Chill had been released early because he had been a star witness. The anger he felt when he saw this news surged in his heart again.
But the next second, Joe Chill's skin began to peel off constantly from his right eye socket, just like an invisible hand tearing his skin, peeling it off bit by bit.
The murderer let out an indescribable scream. He opened his mouth wide and stared, his eyeballs about to roll out of his sockets, but his skin was still being torn off bit by bit until the blood-red muscles were exposed.
Bat-Bane knew how much it hurt, how terrifying it was. He saw how the blood vessels, nerves, and tendons under the skin were dissolved, and he saw how the blood flowed out like a waterfall and poured onto the exposed nerves. Every scratch felt like a heavy blow to the brain.
He completely, clearly, knew how much it hurt.
When that uncontrollable excitement surged from his heart, Bat-Bane felt incomparable despair.
He slowly knelt on the ground, and when he lowered his head, he saw half of Joe Chill's face skin in his hand.
He clenched his fist and dug a hole in the blood-stained skin, but this wasn't enough. A kind of almost uncontrollable excitement made him reach out and tear that skin into pieces.
Crazy tearing, kneading, crushing.
Hands full of fragments, hands full of blood, a gust of cold wind blew, followed by even stronger wind.
In a trance, Bat-Bane felt the dazzling strong light, but he had no time to look at any scenery in front of him. He only saw Joe Chill standing in front of him, except for that face skin, the rest was intact.
Bat-Bane rushed up like a madman, reached into Joe Chill's wide-open mouth, tore his oral cavity crazily, pulled off his lower jaw, and inserted his hand into his eye socket, almost tearing his skull apart alive.
Bat-Bane roared angrily, smashing his fist again and again on the already cracked skull, until his hands were covered in blood from the sharp bone fragments.
Until he was completely powerless, the anger faded, and only sadness filled his heart.
In a trance, the wind stopped.
In the hazy field of vision, it was no longer that dark alley, nor the hospital room, but a straight aisle and rows of neat bus seats.
The scenery outside the window stopped retreating. Outside the open bus door, the station sign of the fourth stop slowly appeared.
Sunlight spilled in from the bus window and fell on Bat-Bane, who was kneeling on the ground.
He looked down blankly. The corpse lying under him was not Joe Chill, and not even a human.
It was a goblin with purple skin, pointed ears, and fangs. At this moment, its skull was completely smashed, and the bone fragments were still stuck in Bat-Bane's hands.
The shadow covered Bat-Bane's field of vision again. He looked up and saw Schiller's face.
Bat-Bane blinked gently. Hazy light halos flashed in his field of vision. In the sunlight, he saw Schiller's suit turn dark blue, and in a trance, white temples appeared again.
Bat-Bane stood up unsteadily. Schiller opened his arms and hugged him, saying: "You aren't sick. This is your last knot... at least you executed him in the dream."
In the front row, Batman and Seeing Natasha woke up. They turned their heads and saw Bat-Bane hugging Schiller tightly, resting his chin on his shoulder, and slowly closing his eyes.
The two looked at each other and sighed in unison.
"He's completely hopeless."
"I think so too." ===== CHAPTER 1926 =====
