Chapter 1944
Batman turned around. The bit of light that leaked through the gap in the warehouse's towering gate almost disappeared, blocked by his tall figure.
Lord Superman only saw his resolute turning action, but Bruce saw the stiffness in his ankles when he took that step.
Batman still left. Lord Superman chased after him, and Wonder Woman sighed deeply behind them.
"This is not a solution. No one can take his place." Wonder Woman picked up the tool in her hand again and began to repair the broken car in the warehouse.
Bruce stood quietly in place, watching their backs, then turned to Wonder Woman and said: "He didn't come to find me to replace the Batman of your universe."
Wonder Woman's hand paused. She tapped the ground lightly with a wrench and said: "Perhaps he saw another possibility in the young you, but Clark has never believed, nor is he willing to believe, that Batman shaped himself."
"He has no regrets, no remorse. He has never thought about starting over, and he never thinks about 'what if'. He is not a mistake that needs to be corrected, but Superman has never realized this."
Bruce walked to Wonder Woman's side and squatted down, saying: "Perhaps he brought me here precisely because he figured it out."
Wonder Woman's eyes finally showed some doubt. She leaned her body slightly to the side, further away from Bruce, and sized up this young Batman.
Looking at it this way, the difference between Bruce and Batman was still quite large, because his physique hadn't fully recovered and he was relatively thin, so he naturally appeared younger, with a stronger sense of youth.
Westerners develop earlier and pursue mature sexiness more, so many 20-something youths already look like they are in their 40s. But Bruce didn't have a beard and wasn't that strong, so he was more childish than the American youth Wonder Woman remembered, completely like a child.
And his eyes were completely different from the Batman Wonder Woman knew. Although they were both blue, for some reason Batman's brow ridge appeared higher, so the shadow under the brow ridge was heavier, and his pupils were always half-covered, showing no expression.
But Bruce's eyes facing the light were completely exposed to the brightness. That blue color turned white under the direct light, and even the patterns on the iris could be seen clearly. When he stared intently at Wonder Woman, she even felt he had no secrets.
And most importantly, was this Batman's speech a bit too dense?
In the past, to hear so many words from Batman's mouth in such a short time, either there was a major event of aliens invading Earth, or they hadn't seen each other for at least three months, counting 'hello' and 'goodbye', or even coughing and sighing, to have so many sentences.
"I have a way to make them come back immediately, believe it or not?"
In Wonder Woman's shocked gaze, Bruce showed a sincere smile.
On the other side, Batman had already passed through the dense bushes and arrived behind the house, on the open green grass.
The clouds were pressing very low. The wind blowing across the wilderness lifted Batman's cape, and the air was gloomy and gray, reminiscent of the cold rain in the Scottish Highlands in November.
"Batman." Lord Superman landed. Batman stopped, but it wasn't because Lord Superman called him; it was because he only had one last thing to say to him.
"This is your solution."
After speaking, he didn't hesitate and walked forward quickly, while Lord Superman flew faster than him. After passing over his head, he stopped in front of him and said: "You misunderstood. I didn't bring him here to replace you."
Batman looked at him in silence, but the expression on his face was saying 'you are completely wrong', but he was silent even in rebuttal.
"Listen, Bruce, we are always a team—you, me, and Diana. And I brought another Bruce here just to change our current situation."
"You just want to change me."
"I just want to understand you."
Batman's head moved slightly, as if shaking his head, but not so exaggeratedly.
Suddenly, he stepped forward. This radical action even startled Lord Superman. Batman stared tightly into his eyes and said: "You corrected the mistakes of the whole world. You think it's time to correct mine now."
"I said, I just want to understand you."
"You think I'm not normal, so you found a Batman you consider normal, wanting to understand why I'm not normal through him." Batman took a light breath and continued: "You think I'm a broken machine, so you bought a new one to see which part went wrong."
Lord Superman opened his mouth. Actually, he couldn't refute Batman's words, because he had always thought so.
No matter how powerful Batman was, how omniscient, or how talented he was to make people tolerate his silent and taciturn personality, Lord Superman just felt he had a problem.
It wasn't because Batman was different from others; it was just Lord Superman's super intuition that always made him feel that Batman was like a machine that had gone wrong.
This machine had no problems with work efficiency, made no strange noises, and its appearance was still as clean as new, but Lord Superman always felt that in places they didn't pay attention to, the inside of the machine was already in chaos.
But this was just an intuition, or even a fantasy. Lord Superman had no evidence and couldn't convince anyone to prove it with him.
And after meeting other Batmen in the game, Lord Superman discovered that it wasn't the Batman of his world who had a problem; all the Batmen of all worlds had problems, and his own was still relatively light.
Although in the previous game, Bruce was closer to him and Bat-Bane performed more actively, Lord Superman hadn't forgotten to pay attention to another Batman—the Batman of the main universe.
Lord Superman felt he was a coffin.
'Corpse' couldn't describe the feeling this Batman gave him. He was like a coffin placed at a funeral, only for people to admire. Even if he had powerful strength, he couldn't shake a single screw on it.
This made Lord Superman feel unusually desperate. He didn't know how the Superman of that universe dealt with such a Batman. He only knew he must never let the Batman he knew become like this.
After resorting to violent means, Lord Superman finally abandoned those meaningless sentimentalities. He became more extreme, but at the same time more determined. Even if he died or was buried today, he had to stretch out a hand to pierce through his own coffin, throw the Batman next door out of the soil, and throw him into the sky.
"You cannot leave here." Lord Superman's eyes began to flash with red light. "Come back with me, Batman. We will solve all problems, both of us together."
"There is no 'us' anymore." Batman turned around again.
Lord Superman finally exhausted all his patience. He took off again, flew to the diagonal above Batman, and within a breath, surged with cold air that made people shiver, his eyes flashing with terrifying red light.
Batman arched his body, making an attacking posture.
The battle was on the verge of breaking out.
"Bang!"
The loud noise didn't come from the grass.
Lord Superman and Batman turned their heads violently, only to see... the roof that had taken off and crashed down behind them?!!
Immediately after, there was another 'bang'. The warehouse window shattered with a 'clatter', and a black shadow rushed out from inside, and another black shadow flew out quickly.
Wonder Woman swung the Lasso of Truth in her hand and roared at Bruce, who was running in front: "You stop right there! You damned ignorant rogue!! Stop!!!"
The Lasso of Truth flew out from Wonder Woman's hand, drew a smooth arc in the air, and tied toward Bruce.
But standing at this angle, Superman and Batman couldn't see what was happening on the ground at all. The battle situation was blocked by the warehouse building. They only heard Wonder Woman's roar, followed by 'pitter-patter-patter-bang'.
The two couldn't care about talking at all. Lord Superman 'whooshed' like a bird skimming at low altitude, flying back to the house at the fastest speed, and Batman followed.
Bruce had already been pinned to the ground by Wonder Woman. Lord Superman hurriedly shouted: "Diana, stop!"
Then he looked at Bruce again and said: "What did you do?!!"
"I didn't do anything!" Bruce shouted.
"He kissed me!" Wonder Woman roared.
Lord Superman and Batman were stunned.
"I only kissed her cheek!" Bruce argued: "And you dodged!"
"That can't cover up the essence of you wanting to be a hooligan!"
"A polite kiss! You have no sense of romance!"
Wonder Woman was so angry that she wanted to tie Bruce up with the Lasso of Truth on the spot. She stretched out a hand, and the lasso that had just flown into mid-air flew back. But just as she raised her hand to tie him, Bruce took the opportunity to roll over, knocked Wonder Woman to the ground, and struggled to run out.
"Clark, save me!" Bruce shouted while 'whooshing' behind Lord Superman.
Lord Superman and Batman didn't react in time. Lord Superman just wanted to turn his head to look at Bruce behind him, and the Lasso of Truth that flew over tied him and Batman together.
Bruce clapped his hands, walked out from behind them, walked over, and high-fived Wonder Woman, saying: "Look, isn't it settled now?"
"What are you doing?!" Lord Superman said in disbelief.
"Don't you want to hear Batman's true words?" Bruce shrugged and said: "Wasn't your original plan to have me translate? Is your brain coiled like intestines?"
Lord Superman was stunned by the scolding.
"And, you don't think Batman is the only one with a problem, do you?" Wonder Woman put one hand on her hip and brushed her hair blown by the wind with the other, saying: "Is finding another Batman to come over as a translator something a normal person can do? Clark? You're not much better than him!"
After speaking, she walked to their side and stared at them from another angle.
No matter how omniscient Batman was, he couldn't have predicted that there would be such a trendy Batman in the universe, let alone that this Batman would convince Wonder Woman to cooperate with him less than ten minutes after arriving.
Therefore, the armor he was wearing couldn't deal with the Lasso of Truth at all, and there was no counter-equipment on his body.
Lord Superman could try to use brute force to break free, but the problem was that he was tied together with Batman now.
The Lasso of Truth isn't afraid of pulling, but Batman is afraid of squeezing. Batman has the physical fitness of an ordinary person. The armor he wore today doesn't look like heavy armor. Even if it were heavy armor, if Superman really exerted force, he would become meat paste with one elbow.
So Lord Superman couldn't break free.
The two stood side by side tied together. Wonder Woman waved her hand, the rope tightened, and the two sat on the ground back to back.
Bruce showed a brilliant smile.
