Chapter 1985: Lighting the Wondrous Dream in the Heart (Part 15)
As soon as they entered Main Street, a scene that could be called fantastic appeared before their eyes. The entire street was filled with classic Disney characters shopping.
The characters on the parade floats clearly showed traces of doll suits, but the characters walking on the street now not only had completely realistic hair textures, lively expressions, and flexible facial features, but their voices were exactly the same as in the cartoons.
Although Disney performers were quite dedicated, most characters didn't speak because their voices were quite different from the characters in the cartoons, and there was no way to arrange for a dedicated voice actor to dub them.
However, some more capable performers could speak. Like the Mickey and Minnie that Schiller met during the day, their voices were very similar to those in the cartoons, and their tone was also similar. They should have undergone extremely professional voice training.
But even so, their voices were still different from the classic Mickey Mouse voice. Even a voice like Donald Duck's, which was easier to learn by pinching the throat, had a gap with the original work.
But now, the classic characters were either hawking goods or shopping, some strolling, some standing and talking. Whether it was their voices or actions, they were completely consistent with the original work, with no difference at all.
This scene didn't actually look scary, because after all, Disney's character designs were all relatively all-age-oriented. Even if some characters had exaggerated images, they were still likable.
Put it this way, if a seven or eight-year-old child had accidentally wandered in here, they would definitely feel like they had arrived in heaven, because children's thoughts were simple. They felt it was truly great to be able to see these classic characters from cartoons with their own eyes.
But adults had to think about the meaning behind this, and this seemingly warm scene could be called terrifying upon closer inspection. Where did so many real cartoon characters come from, and what were they doing gathering here?
The so-called "man thinks, God laughs," humans always like to worry about some untimely things. This completely destroyed the warm atmosphere of family-friendly characters gathering together, and the whole thing started to develop in a weird direction.
Since most characters were gathered on Main Street, the route to various areas through Main Street like in the daytime was definitely not passable. Even though the street was full of prosperous amusement scenes, Stark felt that if he and Schiller, two real people, mixed in, they definitely wouldn't have a good ending; getting beaten up would be considered light.
Fortunately, there was a small path at the entrance of Main Street that led directly to Adventureland. There were no cartoon characters gathered there for the time being. Finding a moment when no characters were looking this way, the two ran in.
The dense bushes in Adventureland provided tourists with temporary shade during the day, liberating them from the heat, but at night, these trees inevitably appeared gloomy. The Swiss Family Treehouse looked a bit like the terrifying hut where the evil witch lived in fairy tales.
"I never thought Disney Park would be so scary." Stark said while looking at the scenery around him, "It's completely different from the daytime."
Schiller also examined the surrounding scenery. He found that the exaggerated and very cute signs and sculptures that looked fine during the day appeared a bit horrifying under the dim lights at night due to their overly high and low facial features.
Schiller wasn't very afraid of these, but Stark was always jumpy. Before the two had even left Adventureland, Stark was scared into a bit of neurasthenia.
Schiller felt a bit puzzled. Although Stark couldn't be called very bold, he could become a superhero, so he shouldn't be a coward. Why did he seem a bit timid at this time?
"I don't know." Stark said nervously, "I don't know why, I always feel itchy in my heart, as if I'm being affected by something."
Schiller suddenly had a flash of inspiration. He asked, "Affected? Affected by what?"
He didn't seem to be asking Stark, but rather asking himself. He had felt something was wrong since the daytime. This feeling was like a shadow, but it wasn't very obvious, and it was hard to say exactly where it was wrong.
Schiller reviewed what he saw and heard in the park that day in his mind. Suddenly, after a pause, he spat out a word: "... Atmosphere."
"What?" Stark asked him.
"This park has strengthened the atmosphere." Schiller looked left and right and said, "The tourists in the park are all very happy, but this is not entirely because the amusement facilities are fun or the food is delicious."
"Think about it carefully. It was hot and sunny during the day today. You only ate a little food at noon, then stuffed your stomach with ice cream and steak, and then shook wildly on the track vehicle and go-karts. Your stomach must have been uncomfortable for a long time, but you didn't complain at all."
"Don't make me sound like a fragile child." Stark said with some dissatisfaction, and then he thought about it carefully and said, "Actually, since I finished eating, my stomach has been churning, but we still played that rotating Buzz Lightyear project several times. In the past, I would have vomited long ago."
"But I didn't feel very uncomfortable, just felt high-spirited, and didn't even feel tired after playing a few laps of go-karts. It's indeed a bit abnormal."
Schiller glanced at Stark. To maintain his self-esteem, Schiller still didn't say that even after Stark had experienced the Afghanistan incident, he still hadn't completely gotten rid of some pampered habits.
For example, Stark could always be seen wearing sunglasses. That wasn't actually for decoration; he really hated being exposed to the sun and didn't like sweating.
Stark was very picky about food. Under normal circumstances, if a food didn't suit his taste, he wouldn't eat an extra bite even if he died. Even in a very hungry situation, he could be pretentious to death.
But Stark today performed a bit too tolerantly. Eating that salty and greasy fast food, he didn't go to find trouble with the chef, nor did he criticize it for half an hour before turning around and leaving. He even tried to find some highlights of this disgusting food.
And that overly sweet and greasy ice cream and the steak that could only be considered average actually allowed him to wolf it down under the excuse of replenishing the body's heat. If he had been this tolerant today, Venom wouldn't have been tossed around like that.
"Atmosphere is a very mysterious thing." Schiller explained, "It is everywhere, like a shadow, and can affect a person's psychological state from various aspects."
"For example, if a person is in a depressed, dim atmosphere that makes them uncomfortable for a long time, they will have obvious anxiety and depression tendencies. And we often suggest that patients with anxiety and depression change their environment. Simply put, it is to let them change to a more comfortable and happy atmosphere. This is a better treatment method than any medicine."
"Every person we saw from the moment we entered the park had a smile on their face. We didn't hear anyone complain that the goods were too expensive or not worth it. From a sociological point of view, this is impossible."
Schiller held up a finger and said, "No matter how cheap or cost-effective the goods are, they are only aimed at a certain consumer class. It is impossible for a product to meet the needs of all consumers."
"But in this amusement park, people almost never consider the cost-effectiveness of goods, nor do they consider whether they can afford such consumption. This is obviously very unscientific."
"The only answer is that the atmosphere here has affected all tourists." Schiller thought and said, "But it is temporarily impossible to determine whether they did this through scientific or magical means."
"Then what should we do next?"
"According to the original plan, go to the Haunted Mansion first."
The Haunted Mansion was not far from Adventureland. There were almost no cartoon characters here. They arrived at the huge manor smoothly, but a black shadow that flashed in front scared Stark again.
This time Stark saw clearly. It wasn't a cartoon character with a strange body proportion, but a person. At this time, Schiller had already seen the other party's face. He lowered his voice and shouted, "Shi Difen! Shi Difen!"
Strange turned his head sharply and saw Stark and Schiller hiding outside the gate pillar. He opened his eyes in surprise. Schiller hurried over and said, "Why are you here too?!"
"I wanted to come over and investigate."
"Did you also notice something wrong?"
Strange didn't talk nonsense, but immediately said, "You remember the ghost wave theory you proposed, right? Or at least you have some understanding of brain waves."
"The research institute of Kamar-Taj previously conducted an experiment aimed at investigating the impact of abnormal energy on human brain waves. The so-called abnormal energy includes magic energy and the Earth's magnetic field."
"The result is obvious. No matter what kind of energy it is, there is a certain probability of interfering with human brain waves, ranging from making people sleepy or distracted to causing hallucinations."
"Then we discovered that some long-inherited illusions seem to use this principle. They adjust the magic energy field to a certain frequency to influence the brain waves of intelligent creatures, making them think that the hallucinations they see are real, so as to achieve the purpose of confusing the other party."
Speaking of this, Schiller immediately said his previous inference about the atmosphere. Strange snapped his fingers and said, "It seems that's it. The principle of this magic array is to generate some abnormal energy, interfere with the brain waves of tourists, and strengthen their ability to perceive the atmosphere."
"Combined with some psychological means to strengthen the atmosphere, such as music, lighting, and some explanation techniques, it can make people easily happy and briefly forget those annoying things."
"So this is beneficial?" Stark asked.
"It can only be said to be a win-win." Schiller looked at Stark and said, "Just like you spend money to find me to hypnotize you, you can understand this as a large-scale group hypnosis room."
"Hypnosis does help people release stress, but this is not free. In addition to the entrance ticket, under such circumstances, people are easily induced to increase consumption."
Schiller's eyes became brighter and brighter, and he said with great fascination, "It seems that Walt Disney also has a lot of research on psychology. Combining magic and psychology is simply a genius idea. Why didn't I think of it?"
"Don't think about it!" Stark interrupted him.
"As a psychological magician, Walt Disney used the entire Disney amusement park to show us his superb revenue skills." Schiller continued, "I think this aspect is very worth learning for me..."
"Don't learn it!" Strange also interrupted him.
But the attitudes of the two obviously couldn't change Schiller's yearning. He could almost be called fanatical.
Strange and Stark looked at each other and realized a problem at the same time: if this park could strengthen the atmosphere, was Schiller's greed also strengthened?
Then they thought incredulously, did Schiller's greed still have room for strengthening? ===== CHAPTER 1986 =====
