I thought we were friends!!!”

“I wasn’t...” Venom roared, his mouth wide open, pointing at Thor beside him. “Stay away from me, you damn—”

Thor was equally furious: “How dare you speak to me like that?! I am the son of the Allfather, Prince of Asgard, you damned stowaway!”

“I’m not a stowaway—you damn humans!!!”

“What does this have to do with humans?!” Spider-Man shouted at Venom. “It’s you who’s being rude!!!”

In short, the three began shouting at each other until Matt, who had followed Spider-Man in, finally silenced them.

Matt struck each of them once with his cane, and the three, no better than kindergarteners, finally stopped.

Eventually, the four sat on opposite sides of the coffee table: Venom nearest the door, Thor to his left, Spider-Man to his right, and Matt directly across.

“Let’s get back to what’s happening,” Matt steered the conversation back on track. “Earlier, following Target’s trail, we discovered Kingpin appears to be dealing in immortality factors.”

“We found Kingpin sold a batch of immortality factor serum to the Hand, but their deal went sour and they broke ties.”

Peter continued: “The Hand’s liaison for that deal was Target. From him, we got the location of one of their safehouses. For the past few days, I’ve been staking it out, tracking their ninjas.”

“The ninjas’ usual duty is patrolling New York, always along fixed routes. But today, two of them took a wrong turn—I followed them here and found they meant to kill you. What’s going on?”

Matt’s tone remained calm: “The Hand is a highly efficient organization. Though they kill without mercy, their targets are always precise—they don’t kill irrelevant people.”

“How would I know?” Thor said, equally puzzled. “Could they be after me? But I’m not even from Earth—I have no connection to anyone here, let alone any grudge against that Hand.”

At that moment, all three turned their gazes to Venom. His massive frame sat awkwardly on the small sofa, looking absurd.

He was utterly out of place among the others. Though all three were non-human, at least they retained human form—yet here lurked a six-meter-tall black monster, making the whole scene surreal.

Matt whispered to Spider-Man: “This is the alien parasite you mentioned was bonded to you?”

He sized Venom up. “You’re sure all the things it did while inside you were just nagging you to do homework, messing with your relationship with Gwen, and stopping you from going out???”

Even Matt found it hard to believe—this monster looked nothing like a tutor.

“There’s so much more I didn’t tell you!” Peter, still bitter about Venom’s vomiting, embellished to Matt: “When I played basketball, it wanted me to deliberately hit people. When I paid at the convenience store, it tried to make me steal. It stole Gwen’s cheese balls—and ate every single chocolate cookie Aunt May baked. Not one left!”

“I didn’t eat them all! There were still a few left! And weren’t some of those cookies in your stomach too? Now you’re blaming me entirely...” Venom roared, his mouth full of sharp teeth, at Spider-Man.

Matt covered his forehead: “Stop it! Can we focus on the real issue?!”

He summarized: “I also think they’re unlikely targeting Thor. He’s only been here a few days, has no ties to the Hand—why would they send ninjas to kill him?”

“Then it must be...” Peter looked at Venom. “You’ve caused trouble again.”

“How should I know?!” Venom denied it outright. Only after relentless questioning from Matt and Spider-Man did he reluctantly recount what had happened.

After separating from Spider-Man, Venom only wanted to bond with an ordinary human, rest, and soothe his wounded psyche.

Eddie had been a decent host—normal, no tornadoes of chaos, no tidal waves of darkness, no babysitting kids. Venom’s life had been peaceful.

But symbiotes influence their hosts’ emotions. Venom’s previous hosts, aside from Spider-Man’s calm nature, were all volatile.

So when Eddie saw the Life Foundation’s files, his rage doubled—and he successfully enraged its CEO, Drake, lost his job, became penniless, and was left hungry. Venom starved alongside him.

Venom had already planned to find a new host—until Eddie moved here. Then Venom developed an allergic reaction: vomiting, diarrhea, constant torment—until Thor found him.

Peter stared at Venom in disbelief: “Allergic?! Aliens get allergies?!”

Venom clutched his throat: “I think I’m allergic to people with low IQs... gah...”

Spider-Man and Thor exchanged glances. Venom gagged again: “Since he moved here, it’s gotten worse—there are just too many brainless people around...”

“Especially after moving next door to you!!!” Venom bellowed at Thor, mouth wide open. “You have no brain!!! You’re a lethal allergen—stay away from me!!!”

“Who has no brain?!”

As they were about to erupt again, Matt intervened: “Alright, since you’re unwell, go back. I need to speak with your host.”

After a tense standoff, the black slime retracted into Eddie’s body. He sat up, rubbing his head, and looked at the three staring at him. He shook his head: “...What happened? Who are you two?”

“I remember two black shadows trying to kill me—they looked like anime ninjas...”

“They were ninjas.”

Matt then explained the situation to Eddie.

Eddie patted his temples: “...Is that right?”

“...If they really have a reason to kill me, it must be because I angered Life Foundation’s CEO, Drake.”

“If you’re certain you haven’t offended anyone else recently, then that’s likely it.”

“You angered Drake, but the assassins are from the Hand—this suggests they’re collaborating.”

Matt sat in silence, then analyzed: “If anything links the Foundation and the Hand, it’s the immortality factor serum.”

“We learned the Hand and Kingpin broke ties over the serum—Kingpin sold them a batch, but the deal collapsed. Could the Life Foundation be involved?”

Matt tapped his cane on the floor: “We have a new lead. We need to uncover the true relationship between Kingpin, the Hand, and the Life Foundation.”

Bai Meng Shu

Eddie coughed sharply twice. “...I have a plan.”

All three turned to him. Eddie lifted his head, teeth clenched: “You don’t think I’ll just take this lying down, do you? They ruined my job—and sent killers after me...”

His face was grim, but his words were clear: “In those files, I saw the Life Foundation using homeless people as test subjects. And they’re currently recruiting volunteers for immortality factor experiments.”

Eddie breathed heavily, exhausted beyond words, yet his voice flowed smoothly: “We can apply as volunteers, infiltrate their base, and find out what they’re really doing.”

His tone was unnervingly calm, with a unique rasp and depth: “Besides me, only you three meet the volunteer criteria. Thor can pose as a homeless man. This kid looks young enough to qualify as vulnerable. And you...”

Eddie looked at Matt: “You’re blind—you’re also vulnerable. The Life Foundation has experimented on blind people before.”

“Whichever one of you gets in, we can coordinate from inside and out. And we can extract useful intel on the Hand and Kingpin from the Life Foundation.”

“There’s a backup plan: Drake’s been in the spotlight lately, giving many interviews. I can get his schedule from my journalist contacts. If all else fails, we kidnap him.”

“Also, the Life Foundation researcher who contacted my ex-girlfriend mentioned the Foundation had legal troubles—another lead.”

“And the immortality factor serum comes from vampires. When I covered the vampire invasion, I met several cops who participated. We can...”

He listed seven or eight plans, exhausting every possible lead. When he finished, silence fell for a full minute.

Matt stared at Eddie: “You were really a journalist?”

“I was...” Eddie paused, stunned. He didn’t know why he’d suddenly devised so many plans. “These ideas just appeared in my head—I don’t know why...”

“You have a gift,” Matt murmured.

“I think the first plan is most feasible,” Peter said. “All three of us apply as volunteers—we’re bound to get in. Worst case, we make ourselves look pitiful.”

“I think the first and second plans should run in parallel,” Matt replied cautiously. “Infiltrating the Life Foundation for intel is vital—but so is monitoring Drake. If he contacts the Hand directly, we’ll know their true intent.”

“You three apply as volunteers. I’ll watch Drake,” Eddie said.

“Are you sure?” Peter asked. “I’ve heard surveillance and counter-surveillance aren’t easy. Without training, you’ll get caught.”

Matt added: “And you’re being hunted by the Hand. Going after Drake isn’t just risky—it’s walking into a trap.”

Eddie hesitated. He didn’t know why he’d spoken with such confidence—until a voice echoed in his mind: “Tell them you can do it.”

Eddie jumped off the sofa, eyes darting wildly: “What voice? Who are you?!”

“I’m dying of your stupidity—haven’t you figured it out yet?”

“I...”

“I’m Venom. Don’t ask more—your brain can’t handle it. Just tell them you can do it.”

Eddie froze, wondering if he’d lost his mind—but he said anyway: “Trust me. I can do it.”

Then the other three saw his facial muscles twitch—suddenly, he seemed transformed, cold and chillingly menacing. His voice dropped low:

“Because I’m Eddie Brock.”

————EXTRA NOTES————

One word: Stitch!
",1550,"2026-06-20T16:39:20.726Z",1,"Qwen3-Next 80B","2e8580b39ecadb436e6e49a260f8b4ceb14ba866e2db885c2a289eb19c98a267","my-life-as-a-mental-mentor-in-marvel-chapter-202","my-life-as-a-mental-mentor-in-marvel-chapter-200",1000,"https://novelzhen.com/images/covers/my-life-as-a-mental-mentor-in-marvel-cover.jpg"]
