Chapter 2013: Lighting the Strange Dream in the Heart (Part 43)

~11 min read 2,039 words

Before the Celestial Group prepared to head to Battleworld, there was one more problem that seemed a bit outrageous but was actually quite reasonable that needed to be solved, and that was expanding the server's capacity.

The hundred or so players pulled in for the internal test version were souls from various worlds. Their combined capacity might not even compare to a single hair of a Celestial. Now that so many members of the Celestial Group were to be put in at once, the server's capacity had to be upgraded first.

When it was just Lucifer, Owen, and Schiller, this company was a complete small workshop, and one room for office work was enough. But to hire more employees, at least there had to be office space.

But as mentioned before, this Battleworld universe was conjured out of thin air by Lucifer and Owen. In fact, this wasn't a universe at all; it could only be said to be a special space, much simpler in structure than any single universe in the Marvel Universe.

Such a simple structure meant that just expanding the capacity wouldn't work; scaling it up proportionally wouldn't make it a normal universe either.

To use a simple analogy, it was simple to build a hamster house with popsicle sticks and white glue, but if this structure were completely scaled up to a human house, many problems would arise in terms of load-bearing, structure, strength, and space allocation.

Then the problem circled back. They needed a powerful shareholder, an investor with their own capital, to cooperate with these employees to update the entire universe structure.

So Schiller didn't return to Battleworld immediately, but returned to Disneyland again to study the statue of Walt Disney.

The statues in the Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, two of the four major theme parks, had already been lit up. The remaining ones were Epcot and Animal Kingdom.

Among them, Animal Kingdom wasn't completely an amusement park. There were many nature reserves inside, some of which completely reproduced the scenes of Africa, and there were also hotels where one could interact closely with animals. The area was very large, and there were many projects.

Epcot was biased toward space and technological development themes and was a relatively smaller park.

Due to sufficient time, the group of people no longer gathered together, but went to different parks for sightseeing according to their own hobbies.

Schiller chose to go to Epcot first, because he heard that Disney had started the construction of a miniature Mercury base about two years ago, and also added an exhibition hall for the loop shuttle and popular science space transportation systems.

And the Orlando municipal government, in order to develop local tourism, had already intended to introduce tourist shuttles, allowing residents in the southern region to also experience the benefits of technological development.

These were all things that the Disneyland in Schiller's previous life didn't have, so he was very interested and went to Epcot to visit on the first day after free activities.

This place was indeed different from ordinary Disney amusement parks, especially from the park in Magic Kingdom that was also in a futuristic style, which had a big difference.

The biggest difference lay in the futuristic-style decorations in Magic Kingdom. Adults knew they were fake at a glance. Many were just metal parts decorations for aesthetics without practical significance, just to satisfy children's imagination of future technology.

But ever since humans really built a Mercury base, possessed cleaner energy, and moved toward the universe, Disney obviously put a lot of effort into this independent park of Epcot. Almost all buildings and decorations were replaced with the real thing.

The moment Schiller walked in, he even suspected that Stark had let Disney's architectural designers visit Mercury. If it weren't for the fact that the sun was too far away, he would have really thought he was on Mercury.

High-rise buildings stood here like a forest, row upon row. The exterior of the buildings was covered with a layer of nanocrystals. Although there was no solar radiation close at hand to resist here, those nanocrystal coatings set up to resist heat and radiation made the whole city extremely shiny.

The originally smaller park was further expanded and divided into four blocks. The former Epcot was just one of the areas, and the themes of the remaining three areas were Future Flight, Journey to Touch the Sun, and World Expo.

These were obviously things produced in response to the Solar System Development Plan. Future Flight was mainly to demonstrate the space transportation system. Inside, not only were there models of shuttles and space trains, loop shuttle stations, but also design drawings of large space buses, simple civilian rockets, etc., that were about to be launched in the future. It was a complete indoor venue.

After Schiller visited the Future Flight project, he found that most of it was popularizing the most basic space transportation knowledge for children. Except for being able to sit on real shuttles, the only amusement project was to simulate riding an air bus to visit famous US attractions in an indoor 3D scene. It was aimed at a lower age group and could only be said to be education through entertainment.

But Journey to Touch the Sun was relatively comprehensive. In addition to two indoor venues, there was also a large outdoor project. This project was called Mercury Rescue.

Just as Schiller arrived, he found that it was crowded with people again. After finding a staff member to ask, he learned that this project had been unable to be reserved even with a super fast pass since it opened, and the highest queuing record could reach eight hours.

This aroused Schiller's curiosity even more, so he bought a drink and went to queue up.

This queue lasted for a full three hours, from morning to noon, and finally he queued in.

When he first went in, Schiller thought he would see a row of track cars, because most of Disney's sightseeing projects were like this—either sitting on track cars or sitting on boats, with many scenes arranged along the way for tourists to visit.

Unexpectedly, the five people who were let in began to change clothes under the guidance of the staff. After putting on the very heavy spacesuit, Schiller discovered that this was the real thing, and the back was even printed with the mark of the Osborn Group.

"Everyone, what you are wearing now is the same protective suit worn by the first batch of engineers of the Solar System Development Plan when they first landed on Mercury, coming from the Osborn Group."

"This company designed a protective suit with a special fiber structure in the early stage of the Solar System Development Plan, which can greatly reduce the danger brought by heat and radiation on the surface of Mercury."

After putting on the protective suit, he walked inside all the way until he heard the sound of the gate opening in a pitch-black space. After walking in, in the process of his eyes adapting to the intense light, Schiller heard a familiar sound of wind.

As soon as he opened his eyes, a huge fireball hung in the sky, which was the sun that humans dreamed of.

All the tourists screamed. The oppressive feeling of the huge celestial body was too strong. Except for Schiller, everyone else retreated one after another and stuck to the door.

Schiller examined the sun hanging in the sky and found that this was really a sun, but it was a small-sized one. Then he immediately thought of Otto's lifelong pursuit—artificial sun.

It seemed he had succeeded, but only succeeded in part. The artificial sun hanging in front of everyone was indeed an artificial sun, but it didn't have the heat and radiation that the sun should have, more like a large light bulb in the shape of the sun.

Although it also made people feel scorching, and illuminated everything here very brightly and dazzlingly, compared with the real sun, it was still a dwarf in front of a giant.

For Schiller, it was indeed like this, but for ordinary people who had never approached this star at all, this was simply a natural disaster. A little girl in her early ten years old cried on the spot.

After all, the sun was indeed a large bomb, and the Disney staff kept it very secret. No one expected that they would see such a shocking scene as soon as they came in. Who knew if this thing hanging on their heads would suddenly explode?

But at this time, a low voice came from everyone's protective suit: "Emergency repair department, emergency repair department, I am Hansen from the Mercury base monitoring department. Please immediately go to A21 point and B13 to carry out emergency repairs according to the arrangement! Repeat..."

Schiller looked down, good guy, the communication equipment was also real, just like the communication equipment they used when they visited the Mercury base before.

And this actor playing Hansen was obviously well-trained, his tone was low and rhythmic. Although very nervous, he was not lacking in calmness, making this group of confused ordinary people couldn't help but do as he said.

"Where is the point? Where is the point? Here, here is a road sign, hurry up and follow me!" A middle-aged man who looked like he had engineering experience beckoned to the others and said: "It seems we are playing emergency repair personnel. Now some equipment in the Mercury base is broken, we have to go and repair it quickly, hurry up and follow me!"

The others who had no idea what to do had no choice but to run forward with him, but after running halfway, there was another strong wind, and people were blown crookedly. After finally running into the building in front, everyone was sweating profusely.

Then they began to look for the problematic point in the narrow alley of the Mercury base, and then discovered that the problem with the point starting with A was leakage, which needed to be re-filmed with the special crystal film next to it.

And the special crystal film needed three materials to be prepared, one of which needed to be refined in the furnace next to it. The five people just happened to complete an assembly line of refining, preparing, and blocking.

Not to mention whether this process was scientific or not, anyway, the atmosphere of the team was already tense to the point of explosion. Although they knew this was fake, the thing hanging on their heads was really hot.

At point B, this situation was even more serious, because point B was a large-scale damage to the building, and the indoor temperature rose seriously. The few people had to move materials to block while tightening screws, and finally had to work together to push the finished board to the damaged place against the scorching wind before the task was completed.

By this step, ordinary people were simply exhausted. And when they walked into the hall next to them according to the instructions, the most shocking scene came.

A real spaceship landed in front of them.

Schiller recognized that it was the engineering ship of the Stark Group going to Mercury to transport equipment. In fact, it wasn't a real spaceship, at most it was an intra-star system aircraft.

But this was enough to shock ordinary people. When this thing landed, it was like Mount Tai pressing on the top. After it landed in front of everyone, it was also like a huge, insurmountable mountain.

That smooth surface, the engine flames that would only appear in sci-fi movies, instantly swept away everyone's fatigue, and everyone cheered and rushed up.

And when the hatch opened and they found that it was really a meticulous spaceship cabin inside, they all fell silent again, immersed in amazement and unable to extricate themselves.

After playing through the process, Schiller finally knew why this project couldn't be reserved in advance and couldn't take the super fast pass, queuing for half a day, and those people still wanted to play.

Needless to say, come again. ===== CHAPTER 2014 =====
