Chapter 2114

~11 min read 2,053 words

Bruce widened his eyes. He looked in disbelief at the giant monster towering into the clouds before him. Could this be Aisha?!

What on earth had her father done?!!

Bruce was almost impressed that he could still let his mind wander to such things in this situation, and in the few seconds he was distracted, the giant yellow monster had already bitten a mech in two, crunching the steel parts into bits.

Bruce breathed a sigh of relief. Fortunately, Aisha was here; otherwise, it would be impossible for him to defeat any of these mechs. Judging by this formation, Stark definitely had the intent to kill.

But soon he witnessed Stark's true formation.

The yellow monster had just bitten down on two mechs when another mech with glowing red eyes charged toward them, looking as if it were about to launch a suicide attack.

The yellow monster flapped its wings, carrying Bruce back into the sky to dodge the explosion, but as soon as Bruce looked back, he saw dense black dots rising on the skyline.

Wait... the skyline?

Bruce looked in shock at the flat skyline. He grabbed the yellow monster's claws, struggled to turn his body 180 degrees, looked at the skyline behind him, and was completely stunned.

Where was San Francisco? Where was the Golden Gate Bridge???

They were now in a flat place, or rather, it looked more like a relatively flat nature reserve, but in any case, there was no city; it didn't look like the outskirts of San Francisco at all.

Where were they?

Just seeing another version of himself had made Bruce suspect that the space-time of the mysterious space in the fog might be chaotic. Now he was completely certain: after leaving the fog, they had been transferred to another place, and it looked to be a hundred thousand miles away from the entrance.

Aisha, having turned back into her Parallax form, was also stunned to see such a massive mech army.

This wasn't right. Didn't they just hack into the Stark Group's network and release Stark's backup consciousness? Was there such a deep grudge?

And Aisha had released the backup consciousness of the righteous Iron Man; shouldn't the righteous and evil Iron Men be fighting each other to the death? How could he spare so many troops to fight them?

Aisha also thought to look around at the surrounding environment at this moment, and then she discovered, great, they were back on the East Coast.

This definitely couldn't be the West Coast of the United States; at the very least, it was the Northeast. Then Aisha turned her head to the right—wasn't this Lake Ontario? How did they get to Canada???

But there was no time to guess geographical questions now. This army of robots had gone bloodthirsty; they were clearly planning to charge through like a swarm of locusts, killing every breathing creature here.

Aisha felt that the two of them might have been caught in the crossfire, but she couldn't be sure. As things stood, they couldn't win a fight, so they had better run.

Actually, Aisha could hold out for a long time as Parallax, and she even felt she could handle the first wave of the offensive, but it simply wasn't worth it.

For Iron Man, his mech army was endless and could be replenished at any time, but Parallax needed fear as energy. Aisha estimated that within a 20-kilometer radius, there were no living people other than her and Bruce; she had nowhere to recharge.

Then, in the end, she would definitely be worn down by the endless mech army. And if they didn't escape early and got dragged into a messy fight, they wouldn't be able to stop even if they wanted to later.

So Aisha made a prompt decision, grabbed Bruce, and ran. To save energy, she turned back into the image of a little girl. She didn't even care about the direction, making it her primary goal to avoid the areas with the densest shelling, flying as fast and as far as she could.

While performing maneuvers in the air, Aisha was still thinking that this whole thing felt wrong no matter how she looked at it. Even if White Tank had the time to catch the two of them, he shouldn't have used this method.

That evil Stark couldn't have known about her abilities. All the progress they had made before was something Batman could have done, and most versions of Batman didn't have superpowers.

Then, using nano-intrusion to lock the car doors while they were driving would have been a better choice, or simply placing a bomb on their car to catch them off guard. Such a large-scale attack actually gave them space to escape and hide.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh—several more rockets flew past Aisha. Aisha dodged as steadily as possible; after all, she still had to make sure Bruce wouldn't be shaken unconscious.

But just at this moment, the mechs flying all over the sky paused for a moment and turned in unison to look in one direction.

Aisha didn't have time to care why they had stopped. She grabbed Bruce's shoulders and ran, darting through a gap in the group of mechs and flying toward the distance.

On the way to escape, Bruce looked back. All the mechs were flying in one direction. If he wasn't mistaken, the thick fog rising on the skyline was just like the one he had encountered before—cold and ethereal.

Niagara Falls town, Ontario, Canada, November 11, 9:00 PM.

A car drove out of the fog again and stopped under a streetlamp. Coulson got out of the car, looked around, and discovered that they were back on Maple Avenue.

Could the entrance to the interdimensional space be fixed?

Just as he was pondering this question, Coulson turned his head and found lights flickering on the road nearby.

Several members of Coulson's team immediately got out of the car, took emergency flashlights, and walked over there, only to find a group of people standing on the grass nearby, with several cars parked on both sides of the road.

As soon as Coulson switched his flashlight, a bearded man wearing a conical hat walked over and roared, "Hey, hey, where's this newbie from? Turn off your flashlight; it's going to affect our filming of the Indian ghosts!"

"Who are you? What are you doing here?"

"Are you a cop or a tourist? Forget it, I don't care who you are. We're ghost-hunting experts, currently capturing signals of Indian ghosts here. We're going to catch it."

Coulson opened his mouth slightly, stretched out both hands to lift the hem of his suit, put his hands on his hips, and said, "To tell you the truth, I am indeed a tourist, but I'm also here specifically for the recent ghost stories about Niagara Falls."

"Very good taste." A gaunt woman with brownish-gray hair walked up, crossed her arms, and said, "I'm sure this ghost is extraordinary. Perhaps it's an Indian settlement. They perished in the war against European immigrants, and before they died, they used a unique ritual from their village to turn themselves into a curse."

"Hey, Rena, what nonsense are you spouting? This is clearly a group of Indian shepherd ghosts. They lost their way in the mountains because of the fog, which is why they brought the fog here, making us all experience the pain they felt when they died."

This fat, bearded man and the gaunt woman named Rena each held their own opinions. In any case, one side thought it was ghosts, and the other thought it was a curse, but both felt it was the Indians causing trouble.

Coulson rubbed his hands, made a gesture of interest, took out two cigarettes, lit them for the two, and said, "Alright, I won't waste my breath with you. We're a reporter team, and our boss needs some explosive photos, you know."

"You've come to the right person for that." The gaunt middle-aged woman, Rena, snapped her fingers, pointed at Coulson, and said, "In a moment, I'll perform a special ritual to capture the essence of the curse. Soon you'll see how this powerful curse..."

Just as they were saying this, Coulson's peripheral vision caught a faint blue light appearing at the end of the skyline. When he looked more closely, he realized it was a thin mist condensing under the moonlight.

"Niagara Falls! It's the Falls!" The bearded man shouted behind them, scurrying past them and saying, "I'm a local; that direction is the Falls. The ghosts have appeared, hurry over there!!"

They rushed to the lit campsite. The bearded man and his two other local companions began to pack up their things. Rena also gave Coulson an apologetic look, nodded, and returned to her RV to prepare to leave.

"Are we still going over there, boss?" May asked, standing behind Coulson. Coulson stared at the mist, which looked like silver gauze under the moonlight, remembering the living people he had seen in the fog world who looked just like him.

Would he see him there? Would he be a traveler who had accidentally entered it just like their group? Would that mysterious fog-visitor appear again?

"What is the probability of a person encountering two paranormal events in a row within an hour?" Coulson turned to look at his assistant, but he was also asking himself.

"If you want to go, we'll go." Simmons stepped forward, knocked on the roof of the car, and said, "We came here for this. Even if we encounter two in an hour, we can obtain more data."

"I agree, too." Fitz carried the equipment and lowered his head to fiddle with the buttons on it, saying, "We can't rely on those ghost-hunting enthusiasts' antenna dishes."

Seeing the team members so supportive of his decision, Coulson didn't hesitate anymore. With a wave of his hand, the four of them got into the car and headed toward their original destination, Niagara Falls, once again.

They all treated the car and the people they had seen when they accidentally entered the fog world before as an accident and a small interlude. Aside from the inference of space-time chaos drawn from it, they didn't think too deeply about it.

Soon the car arrived near the Falls. On the Canadian side, one could view the front of the falls. They walked up a small path in the woods, and before they had walked many steps, the full view of the Falls had almost appeared before their eyes.

The pronunciation of "Niagara" means "voice of the thunder god" in the Indian language. It is said that Indians who had never seen the Falls didn't understand where this rumbling roar came from. They thought it was the snoring of the thunder god, so they named the waterfall "voice of the thunder god."

Coulson had heard of this legend long ago, so he felt that this fog might really have something to do with the Indians. Just as he thought of this, he heard a burst of violent commotion behind him.

He turned his head and saw the dazzling car headlights, spotlights, and flashlight beams again. He saw a crowd of over a hundred people walking toward this side.

It seemed that a large group of paranormal enthusiasts had arrived. They must have observed the fog near Niagara Falls and felt it was a good opportunity to film paranormal videos or take photos, so they all rushed over carrying their long guns and cannons.

Coulson and his team were even interviewed by a reporter. The reporter almost shoved the camera lens into Coulson's nose and asked at a rapid speed, "Hello, are you a local resident? Is this your first time seeing this phenomenon? Do you think this is really the Indians causing trouble?"

Coulson had just opened his mouth when he saw a tall, thin figure walking on the upper part of the winding path.

Coulson immediately pushed the reporter aside and rushed upward, but he slowed his pace before approaching the man.

Hearing footsteps, the man wearing a long black trench coat turned his head and lowered the brim of his hat. Those light brown eyes were even brighter in the moonlight filtering through the forest leaves.
