Chapter 22: Spider-Man's Conflict
Peter, who was running, suddenly had his spider-sense ring. But his confused thoughts didn't allow him to dodge in time. A gold-red mecha flew over quickly, hugged his waist, then flew forward at high speed for a distance, and then threw Peter to the ground all at once.
Peter was shaken up. The beautiful gold-red mecha hovered in mid-air. Spider-Man was shocked. He took off his mask, and a human voice came from the mecha: "It really let that guy say it right. It's really a high school little brat..."
Peter hammered the ground angrily and said: "I'm not a little brat, I'm Spider-Man!"
The Stark on the opposite side made a disdainful snort and said: "Spider-Man? Yes, your reputation among the gamblers in Hell's Kitchen is quite good. The only good thing you did was help those people win a lot of money."
Peter's anger almost broke through the sky. This strange robot attacked him as soon as it came up, threw him to the ground, and mocked him. Peter rushed over angrily. Iron Man's mecha drew a beautiful arc in the air and dodged this attack.
Spider-Man now didn't know any fighting skills, and hadn't fought any robots, didn't understand any tactical route calculation, and naturally couldn't do anything about the Mark 5 equipped with Jarvis.
Spider-Man roared: "You damn robot, I'll let you see my skills!!"
Iron Man's mecha landed and said: "Oh, is that so? Let me see how you defeated that pile of low-level black boxers?"
Stark's mouth was still very poisonous. Little Spider was mocked until his face turned blue and red. Finally, Stark seemed to have no interest in chatting with Peter, this little brat, anymore, and said very coldly:
"A child who hasn't been weaned yet, just get back home quickly. New York is not a playground for you to jump around. Don't think that just because you have something different from others, you can run around in the sky of this city. Someone has already targeted you."
Stark had no good feelings for the current little Spider, especially after learning that he had abilities different from ordinary people, but only went to underground boxing rings to fight. In his opinion, this was really a very stupid behavior.
Stark had his own pride. Although he was a bit arrogant, stubborn, and sensitive, after experiencing the life-and-death crisis of kidnapping, the real Iron Man had awakened, so he looked down on Peter who only knew how to mess around.
Peter stood up, threw his mask to the ground, and said: "You said I was running around in New York, but aren't you the same?!"
His reason recovered a little, so he said to Stark: "Yes, you are wearing this mecha. I can tell that this definitely isn't anything cheap. You have plenty of money to play with this."
"But what about me? My uncle and aunt are both in poor health. They can't even afford the medical examination fees. I really need money, so why can't I go to the boxing ring to fight? And I didn't use this ability to hurt others!"
Stark hugged his arms and said: "Have you ever thought that you have this ability, but don't go to save others, which itself is hurting others."
Peter showed an absurd expression. He shook his head left and right, as if he couldn't believe how the person opposite could say such absurd words, and said: "I obtained the ability myself. I want to use it to do whatever I want. This is my ability. Why can't I use it to do a little more for myself, instead of having to help others?"
The current Peter hadn't experienced the death of Ben Parker. He didn't understand the meaning of the sentence "With great power comes great responsibility," so he now reasonably and righteously thought that since he had this ability himself, of course he should seek a little more welfare for himself.
It could only be said that his idea wasn't wrong. Everyone lived for themselves. But Spider-Man was destined to walk on the path of a superhero. Peter's inherent kindness and tenacity would gradually be stimulated as he grew older. He was destined to become a superhero.
And Stark, although arrogant and proud, always had the idea of taking the world as his own responsibility, feeling that as a super genius, protecting ordinary people and the Earth was his innate responsibility.
Stark could also see that Peter was abnormally excited at this time. I'm afraid he had just been stimulated by something, so he said: "I know you have many questions you can't figure out now. I used to be too. But there are some things you must experience personally before you can understand. This is not something that any big truth I tell you can compare to. I can only tell you that if you continue to hold such ideas, one day you will regret it."
After speaking, Stark's mecha flew away, leaving Peter sitting in place, decadent and lost.
He really didn't understand why everyone was opposing him, as if he were a natural bad seed. Peter didn't understand why he was even more painful after having superpowers.
He earned money, but didn't dare to give it directly to Uncle Ben. Because he went out wandering at night, he didn't sleep well, his academic performance also declined, and in the excitement period of just gaining ability, he also ignored Gwen's feelings. Now Gwen was also in a cold war with him. He wanted to beat his dead rival Thompson, but didn't dare to fight in school, so he could only swallow his anger.
This damn superpower didn't actually bring him any huge benefits, didn't let him turn over overnight, and live the kind of affluent life he wanted. He didn't understand where the problem was.
Blowing the cold wind of New York night, Spider-Man sat on the roof of a building in Hell's Kitchen, constantly thinking.
At this time, his superior hearing allowed him to hear a whisper coming from the alley behind the building.
That was the back door of a nightclub. Originally, two tall and strong bodyguards stood there. Peter could see them from this angle, but they couldn't see Peter.
Peter saw a bald man in a jacket, who seemed to be talking to his men. Peter's vision and hearing were far beyond ordinary people. He saw a circular mark like a target on the bald man's forehead. He heard the bald man say:
"... As long as we step on the accelerator to the maximum before he reacts, you know, Andrei has a good car. He modified it, and the acceleration is much faster than ordinary cars."
"As long as we keep still at the beginning and don't get heard by him, the moment he turns the corner, we hit him, and he's dead."
His subordinate said: "I know an intersection at the end of Mary Street that is very suitable. There are some construction waste piled up at the intersection, and the smell of car oil can also be covered up..."
The bald man showed an evil smile and said: "We have to kill him before that woman, so that Kingpin boss will understand who is his most capable subordinate..."
Peter listened to their conversation on the floor. He learned from the conversation that they seemed to plan to use a car to hit someone to death. But Peter, who had just been educated by turns, thought very rebelliously, what does this have to do with me? It's just a struggle between gangs. Why should I care if one gang member wants to kill another gang member?
Anyway, there are no good people in this damn Hell's Kitchen.
Peter thought so, and walked back slowly. Now it was very late. He told Uncle Ben that he wouldn't go back tonight, so he returned to Daredevil's hut again. Daredevil was still sleeping very deeply.
Peter thought, perhaps what he just thought wasn't completely right. There was still one good person in this Hell's Kitchen, and that was his friend in front of him, and he was a bit too good.
Peter looked at the wound on his calf, which was still bleeding, while the bruise he had just been thrown by Iron Man had completely healed. Peter suddenly felt a bit absurd. Daredevil was really just an ordinary person, without any super self-healing ability at all.
So he meddled in other people's business, which was why he made himself so miserable. He wanted to learn Daredevil's martial arts, but didn't want to learn his way of dealing with people at all.
Just now, when he heard those gangs talking, if he had rushed down angrily to maintain justice and told them not to commit murder, he wouldn't have had a peaceful night. There must be at least a dozen bodyguards in the nightclub. That bald man might be extra resistant to beating. With so many people, if he accidentally got hit, he would have to be in pain for a while.
And the result would probably just be stopping a gang fire. But what kind of good deed is this? There are no innocent people in Hell's Kitchen. The only ones involved in the fire will be other gangs. Peter thought, why should he spend a whole night, taking the risk of being injured, to meddle in this kind of business?
Thinking this way, Peter slowly sank into a dream. In the dream, he made a fortune with his ability, bought a house on the most prosperous street in Queens, and Uncle Ben and Aunt May moved into a new big house. They also hired a private doctor, Uncle Ben's illness was cured, and Aunt May seemed to be ten years younger. Their family lived a very affluent and happy life.
The first half of this dream was very beautiful, but perhaps because Peter heard Daredevil's painful groans in the night, the second half of the dream began to take a sharp turn for the worse.
When Peter went out, a gangster broke into their beautiful big house, killed his uncle and aunt, looted all the items, and their neighbors all saw the gangster, but no one called the police. After the police arrived, they couldn't catch the murderer immediately. Peter became a lonely ghost, wandering in the city every day, wanting to find the murderer who broke his happy life, but there was no clue.
Finally, in his dream, Daredevil appeared. Peter went to question Daredevil. He fought so many criminals, why did he miss those few gangsters? And Daredevil said coldly to him:
"The only one who can be fully responsible for this is probably yourself."
Peter woke up in a cold sweat. The sky in New York had just brightened, and the cold air came in from the cracks in the window, drilling into his lungs, making him have the urge to cry.
Daredevil also woke up. Peter poured him some water. Daredevil said: "Thank you, but I'm afraid I'll have to trouble you again later to help me get some medicine from the clinic at the end of Mary Street." ===== CHAPTER 23 =====
