Chapter 2240
"Indeed, Schiller's method is very good. From a psychological point of view, advancing by retreating is essentially using the other person's guilt. They thought you would fight, but in fact, you don't. For someone in a period of emotional outburst, this is like a pillar hitting a bell, every strike is deafening."
Seeing Natasha analyzed with her arms crossed, "I believe this can solve the problem between Stark and Pepper well, at least it can shake Pepper and make her gradually accept Stark."
"But there are still traps hidden in this. Don't forget, although Pepper is not a superhero, she has her own moral bottom line. She is not the kind of woman who will be overwhelmed by love. The wavering for a moment is ultimately short-lived. When she wakes up, she will still make the right judgment."
"She accepted Stark emotionally, but her moral requirements still make her unable to accept the various behaviors of this evil Iron Man. So the only way is to supervise him, reform him, and make him unable to do bad things again."
"She thinks that the love the evil Iron Man paid for her, besides making her want to reciprocate with the same love, also gives her the responsibility to make him return to the right path."
"So it is foreseeable that their reconciliation is only the first step. And if Stark is even willing to suffer imprisonment for Pepper, then the forced supervision in the future will definitely work on him."
"Isn't this a good thing?" Pamela said. "A prodigal son who returns is worth more than gold."
"But this doesn't mean he won't be in pain. A bad person who is impulsive for a moment might be able to turn over a new leaf, but turning a born bad seed into a superhero is no different from locking them in a narrow cage. Pepper will become Stark's heaviest shackle."
"But this isn't even the most serious thing." Seeing Natasha turned her head to one side and said, "I believe Stark's thoughts must have been very chaotic before he came here, because he was facing too many troubles: accepting interrogation, an uncertain future, Pepper being injured, and superheroes teaming up to deal with him."
"But coming here to face Schiller gave him a solution to all his problems. The invitation Schiller sent him allowed him to temporarily escape from that universe full of trouble, and if he wanted, he could prepare outside until no one could restrict him."
"The most critical thing is that Schiller solved the problem between him and Pepper, emptying his brain full of chaotic thoughts."
"Isn't this also a good thing?"
"Just as power will never be a vacuum, the storm in Tony Stark's brain, which is too rich in emotions, will never stop. Before, he placed all his emotions on Pepper, and now he won't be able to see or contact Pepper for a long time. Who do you think he will project his abundant emotions onto?"
Pamela swallowed.
"And you," Seeing Natasha looked at Pamela sideways and said, "you are actually also..."
Just as she said this, a tall black shadow walked over from the porch. Crossing the bushes, Seeing Natasha saw a pair of eyes intertwined with darkness and azure.
"Batman?" Seeing Natasha tentatively called out. She didn't know if this was her former teammate Batman, but he looked very much like him.
"Madam, I didn't expect to see you here again." Batman walked out from behind the bushes.
To Seeing Natasha's surprise, Batman was wearing a deep purple suit with a black iris-patterned pocket square, looking gorgeous and solemn. She thought she would see all black again.
Batman seemed to see through what Seeing Natasha was thinking and said, "To avoid clashing with the Doctor, Alfred chose bold colors for me."
"Actually, it's easier to clash," Pamela muttered softly.
"What are you doing here? Visiting the garden?" Seeing Natasha asked.
"Is Dr. Schiller here? I want to talk to him."
Seeing Natasha became alert immediately, but Batman was obviously unaffected by the answer to this question. He was just asking casually. He came here actually to observe the window of Schiller's bedroom from the best angle.
He soon found what he wanted. He saw Schiller's figure flash past the window, seemingly walking toward the corridor. Batman turned around immediately and hurried toward the second-floor corridor as well.
Seeing Natasha's blocking movements and words were too weak and were soon blown away in the night wind. She could only sigh, retract one hand, and comfort herself in her heart that Batman was a mature adult and had a sense of proportion.
Batman hadn't been gone for half a minute when another pair of azure eyes appeared behind the bushes. Seeing Natasha pinched her temples on both sides with one hand, watching helplessly as Pamela waved at the younger Batman in front of her and said, "Hi, Bruce, you finally came. I heard you got sunburned?"
"A little, but it's not serious. Selina helped me cover it with foundation."
"Where is she?" Pamela asked.
"She went to greet Cobblepot. Cobblepot helped when she was renting a new house before. She wanted to ask Cobblepot when he would be free so we could invite him to dinner."
Just as Pamela wanted to say something else, Seeing Natasha interrupted her, looked at Bruce, and said, "Don't tell me you're here to find Schiller too."
Bruce was startled and said instinctively, "Of course not. I heard from Lex that there were two beautiful ladies in the back garden... Wait, who else came to find Schiller?"
"That's a lot," Seeing Natasha said irritably. "So you came here to attend the banquet. I thought you were planning to let Schiller solve all the troubles of your second half of life here."
Bruce widened his eyes slightly and said, "Is Professor Schiller conducting psychological counseling?"
"First of all, it's not Professor Schiller. Secondly, it's not just happening now. Finally, I don't think that's psychological counseling, but illegal manipulation."
"Who did he manipulate?"
"There are many. Some you don't know, and some you do. The most recent one is Stark. Oh, no, it might be Batman."
"Did another Batman come?"
"You don't know?" Seeing Natasha looked up at the banquet hall, which was getting more and more crowded, and said, "Just standing here, I've already seen at least two. They were all my teammates when I participated in the game before."
Just then, a breeze blew in through a gap in the window. Seeing Natasha wrinkled her nose and turned to look at a room at the end of the corridor.
The smell of blood.
The female agent was all too familiar with it. She bent slightly to lower her center of gravity and walked along the wall with small steps. Even in high heels, she didn't make a single sound.
Ahead was the manor's master bedroom. Seeing Natasha could distinguish very clearly that this was not the smell of Schiller's blood; it carried a peculiar scent, smelling like blood dripping onto snow.
She gently pushed open the unlocked door of the master bedroom. What appeared before her was an ordinary manor bedroom. Seeing Natasha walked in on tiptoe and discovered a trace of blood in the floorboards.
Blue blood.
Seeing Natasha realized it in a flash. She pressed her earpiece to speak to Nick, but heard footsteps coming from the other end of the corridor.
"The second floor is my bedroom and guest room. The bedroom is not open to the public for now. Perhaps you could take a look at the guest room..."
It was Schiller's voice. Then Seeing Natasha heard another voice respond—it was Strange.
They knew each other?
Of course, it wasn't about whether Schiller knew Strange, but rather, how did that group of Schillers living in the abyss know Strange?
Countless mysteries swirled in Seeing Natasha's mind, giving her a splitting headache. However, the two were about to walk over, so the female agent had no choice but to hide on the balcony as quickly as possible.
"Can't I go into the bedroom to take a look?"
Seeing Natasha heard Strange say this and slapped her forehead. How did everyone have such an inappropriate curiosity about Schiller, especially these dangerous Schillers?!
Fine, she herself had been the fish that was hooked, so she couldn't talk about others. But Schiller had actually agreed! Seeing Natasha couldn't help but start to wonder what kind of relationship the two had.
While thinking, the female agent climbed down the balcony. There were lights in the garden, making it brighter than the unlit master bedroom. If she stood behind the curtains like this, her shadow would definitely be seen.
Climbing down in high heels wasn't a difficult task; Seeing Natasha was quite experienced. But she was worried that her dress might get dirty; appearing inappropriate at the banquet wouldn't be good.
Just as Seeing Natasha's foot was searching for the next foothold, she suddenly felt herself step on something soft yet tough. She turned her head and saw a thick vine extended beneath her feet. Pamela was standing in the distance, looking at her.
Once Seeing Natasha landed, she couldn't hold it in anymore.
"Shit! What the hell is going on? Why is there Loki's blood in Schiller's room? What happened between the two of them? What's going on with Schiller and Strange? And you, what are you trying to do?!"
Pamela landed on the vines, reached out a hand toward Seeing Natasha, and said, "Don't be so serious. We just want to have some fun."
"Do you know what price you'll pay for this?!" Seeing Natasha raised her voice.
"Of course. We know how tolerant Professor Schiller is. I think the others are much the same. But that's all for the future; why can't we have some fun now?"
Alright, Seeing Natasha was now certain that this group of people hadn't distinguished at all between the Schiller in the abyss and the one in the Tower!
If you provoke Greed or Pride, you will naturally face retaliation. The difference is that Greed might take a long detour, and you'll only be in big trouble when you've almost forgotten about it. Pride's retaliation usually comes faster, because when he settles old scores, he does it from front to back.
But regardless, they still have their sanity. Even if they make someone suffer, they won't destroy the overall situation. They try their best to make everything go well, and even the person suffering will always gain something or other.
For the normal Schiller, this is like an obsessive-compulsive disorder. They believe that if they have the ability to do so, they should do it. This is also the thought process of the vast majority of ordinary people: if you can make things better while satisfying your own desires, why not?
But the pathological ones are not like that.
They act as if they have sanity and, generally speaking, look like decent people, but in reality, they have none at all. They don't care what the situation becomes, how many people bleed, get hurt, or die; they only follow their instincts to satisfy their desires.
Pamela and the others realized that the Schiller hosting the banquet might be different from the usual one, and more dangerous than the usual one, but none of them truly realized just how dangerous the pathological Schiller was.
Loki, who was now missing, was an example. He must have come to the manor early, wanting to talk to Schiller about something, but ran head-on into the pathological Schiller. The outcome was easy to imagine.
Thinking of how many fish were oblivious to death under Schiller's hook, and that in order to maintain the normal proceedings of this important banquet between two worlds, she had to save the fish that were nudging their mouths forward or even already hooked, Seeing Natasha felt a deep sense of despair.
Is this world just one giant fish pond?!
Then, without waiting for Clark to support her, she rushed upstairs with long strides, turning her head to roar, "What are you waiting for!! Hurry up and stop him!!!!"
