Chapter 2242: Late Autumn in the Golden City (Part 41)
Shiler stood up from his chair. The moment he stood up, the alarm in Loki's heart began to ring louder and louder.
Shiler stood in front of Loki, looking down at her. Loki instinctively leaned back, to the point where she had to support herself on the edge of the bed to maintain her balance.
"I'm very glad you have a clear understanding of the relationship between you and your brother."
As soon as this Shiler opened his mouth, Loki understood that every factor he exhibited was for the sake of manipulating others. A psychologist wouldn't say such biased words.
The more professional they are, the less they make judgments. They only rationally analyze and cautiously remind, neither talking about themselves nor evaluating others. Once they start doing so, it means they have begun to lose professionalism and push everything in a more self-interested direction.
Loki looked up and saw a pair of desolate gray eyes.
"I'm also very glad you agree with my approach."
"I don't think I expressed my agreement."
"Then why say so?" Loki ignored the alarm in her heart and began to boldly provoke, "Is it because you want me to think your evaluation is important?"
"I must remind you of one thing." Shiler said, "What you are doing is equivalent to throwing a highly unstable time bomb into my banquet. It could destroy everything at any moment."
"It won't be easier to destroy everything than you."
Shiler narrowed his eyes.
Memories flashed through Loki's mind. He lay on the ground, seeing through the reflection of his flowing blood that Shiler, wearing a suit, flashed behind Talia and knocked her out in an instant.
Talia was picked up by Shiler and placed in the cell next to Loki's. He didn't say anything, his leather shoes crossing the stream-like blood, only looking at Loki once when he finally left.
Not long after, Loki felt the breathing next door gradually become even, the faint sound of clothes rubbing against the floor tiles transmitted to his ears through his bones.
Loki glanced at the wound he was pressing. It was still bleeding, but it was much better, so he sat up with some effort, and the opposite side clearly heard the movement here.
"Are you okay?" A slightly hoarse female voice came.
"Don't speak." Loki's English carried a significant ancient Asgardian accent. English with a Norwegian accent sounded more primitive, with stresses more forward than modern English, sounding flatter and heavier.
They were silent for a while.
"Shiler?" Talia spat out another word.
Loki didn't answer, but nodded slightly. He believed the other party could simulate his movements in her brain through subtle sounds, and Talia indeed could, because it was simply too quiet here.
"Is your wound okay?" Talia asked again.
Loki sighed somewhat irritably.
Soon he heard Talia lean toward the wall on his side. "Listen, if you have wisdom and can communicate, you should know that I'm just an ordinary human. Wanting to leave here can only rely on your strength."
"So tell me, what can be done to make your wound better?"
"Quiet." Loki said.
They fell silent, but it didn't last long. Talia was clearly somewhat restless. She said, "Do you plan to just wait here? Wait for him to deal with you?"
Loki remained silent and didn't answer. Every breath Talia took could feel the overly cold air flowing into her lungs from her upper respiratory tract, simply making her heart cold to the point of numbness.
"Stay away from me." Loki continued.
Talia didn't move, so Loki sighed somewhat angrily again.
Talia laughed, however, and lowered her voice, saying, "Interesting boy, where are you from?"
"... Asgard."
Talia raised her eyebrows slightly, and then said, "If I remember correctly, this is the heavenly kingdom in Norse mythology."
"One of the Nine Realms." The voice with a clear tone of annoyance corrected, "There is no heavenly kingdom, only the World Tree and Valhalla."
"What is your name?"
Another silence, but Talia didn't intend to give up. She said, "Very unfortunately, I learned from a friend of mine that the manor owner who captured you has some strange little hobbies."
"If he wanted you dead, he would have killed you long ago. If he wanted you alive, he should have stopped the bleeding for your wound. But he put you here, perhaps precisely to let your blood drain, to present a unique delicacy for his banquet."
The silent air was full of shock. Talia almost smelled this emotion.
"He wants to eat me?"
"It's not impossible." Talia sighed with feigned sorrow, "Perhaps there's me too. You understand how much a banquet fanatic would be willing to pay to make everyone present shocked by his delicacy."
The other party was silent again.
Talia felt it was very interesting, because although she couldn't see the person opposite, she could feel his emotions from the change in air temperature. She couldn't help but ask, "What species are you? Norse gods?"
"There are no Norse gods." The other party's tone sounded even angrier. He said, "Aesir and Frost Giants."
"Sounds like you are the latter."
The other party continued to say nothing.
Talia felt she understood Pamela a bit now. In fact, although she wasn't particularly proficient in Norse mythology, she wasn't ignorant to that extent either. Odin's affairs were relatively famous in the Western cultural circle. Even if she hadn't studied them carefully, she had at least heard of them.
Especially the settings of the World Tree and the Nine Realms, which could be considered unique among all mythological systems. The interesting part compared to Zeus's faction was that there were many races within the god faction, and they would fight each other year after year. The grievances and entanglements were much more interesting than the stuff about hanging pants on Mount Olympus.
So Talia actually roughly deduced which race the other party belonged to when she heard the name Asgard. She said that just to provoke him.
Now she knew where the laughter in Pamela's tone came from when she was pulling her with vines and whispering in her ear that her angry expression looked good.
Humans all have such primitive malice. They gain subtle pleasure when abusing and manipulating others' spirits and emotions. Playing with their own kind allows them to taste the flavor of power, and power is the deepest and heaviest addiction in this world.
Parents control children, teachers control students, superiors control subordinates. If there really were a Lasso of Truth in this world, no one could touch their conscience and say they hadn't gained any satisfaction from abusing desires during this process.
Talia licked her lips and said, "Don't be angry, I'm not very proficient in this. If you won't tell me your name, how should I address you?"
The air temperature dropped rapidly until Talia began to have difficulty breathing, and then slowly rose, and even the ice mist floating on the ground began to dissipate.
"Loki." He spat out a name dully.
Talia raised her eyebrows in surprise. It was actually a well-known figure in mythology. It seemed he shouldn't be the complete body in mythology, but just a youth.
Talia remembered Loki was known as the God of Lies and Mischief. Then the question was, how could he be caught by Shiler and brought here?
Talia didn't think Loki could deceive Shiler. Then the most likely situation was that he tried to deceive, but failed, and Shiler was angered by him and intended to make him into a dish.
However, if Shiler saw through and exposed Loki's lie so simply, then why was he annoyed?
Or it was possible that Shiler was deceived to a certain extent or in a certain part, and then realized it, only then catching Loki and bringing him here.
He could deceive Shiler?
Talia felt a deep curiosity.
Hearing the change in Talia's breathing frequency, Loki exhaled. In the shadows Talia couldn't see, he slowly revealed a smile.
"Do you hope to anger me?" Shiler looked down at Loki. His expression was submerged in shadows, but didn't appear dark or angry, but rather had a strange calmness, making the atmosphere in the bedroom appear even heavier.
Loki pouted and said, "I heard that the Shiler who is active in this universe has a very bad temper."
"Emotional manipulation?"
"More because you have to report every grudge." Loki folded her hands in front of her chest and said, "If I told you that I threw a big bomb into this banquet knowing its importance, you would definitely be very angry."
"But you didn't expect that the one you met wasn't him."
"I don't quite understand the difference between you." Loki said very honestly, "The information I have is too little, and it's hard for me to get words out of Natasha, so I can only formulate a plan based on existing information. You can't see this as a loophole."
"I have no such intention."
Loki lowered her head and thought, "Although what happens between me and Thor from another world will make Thor feel worried and pull his attention back, these are ultimately trivial matters of children's love."
"But if I accidentally offend you, this is a major event concerning the universe. Although it's another personality, I must treat it cautiously. Even if Thor doesn't want to pay attention to me, Nick and others will demand he do so."
"Obviously you don't just want to balance the scales."
"If I can do more, why not?" Loki looked up and stared directly into Shiler's eyes. Light flickered in her eyes, shining like a gem in the dim bedroom, setting off her beautiful face even more brilliantly.
"I rarely take the initiative to retaliate against anyone. To be precise, almost never." Shiler shook his head, and then looked at Loki, asking somewhat curiously, "Then what do you plan to do now?"
"I want to ensure that this series of plans won't really bring about serious consequences. So although I would say this to you, in fact, that stupid second-generation ancestor has already been locked in a space fragment by me. He won't really come here."
"After all, there are so many superheroes here. If he really rushed in without a brain, it would trigger another big war, ordinary people would be killed or injured, and buildings would be leveled..."
Suddenly, Shiler's expression went blank for a moment, and then his eyes refocused, looking into Loki's eyes and saying, "Let him come."
"... Ah?"
"Let him come. I'll teach you how to get what you want." ===== CHAPTER 2243 =====
