Chapter 246: Light (Part 2)

~4 min read 719 words

Saka is not a normal planet, nor is the Taejo star system a normal star system—it is surrounded by dense cosmic passages, where natural forces are not the decisive factor in the development of civilization.

Saka is a satellite of the massive planet hanging in the sky; its climate is extremely arid, with no rain, no storms, no thunder—so when thunder sounded, all Saka people had no idea what it was.

The arena erupted in panic; someone shouted: "The earth is splitting! The Earth God is enraged!"

Others cried: "Another massive meteor is falling! Run!"

Red King ordered his guards behind him to keep striking their spears: "Don't panic! The earth cannot split—we have anti-meteor weapons!"

But no matter what he said, the violent sound grew louder; thunder is the most imposing and oppressive sound in nature, and when layers of dark clouds obscured the sky, everyone realized a great disaster was coming.

High Priest raised his head; his hair whipped backward by the gale. When that familiar sound echoed, he was reminded of his fleeting glimpse at the edge of Sagittarius—the same thunder, the same might… After that day, Sagittarius rang with one name—God-King Odin.

His gaze fell on the spear in Thor's hand, filling him with a terrible premonition; he murmured: "This is impossible… Gungnir is Odin's weapon…"

But no matter what he thought, a massive storm began gathering at the tip of Thor's spear—a vast vortex extending from the spearhead up into the sky, churning the clouds and gathering the gales.

Everything in the arena spun and whirled with the storm: first clothes, flags, and hair snapped violently, then sand, stones, wooden planks, and bricks began to fly like schools of fish adrift in the sea.

Finally, the Saka people and the entire arena.

Dark clouds choked the sky, gales howled, thunder boomed louder—only High Priest, Red King, and those beside them remained standing; everyone else had been swept into the sky by the roaring hurricane, lost somewhere beyond.

High Priest's body shimmered with magical light; he gritted his teeth: "If your father, God-King Odin, had come here himself, I might have spoken with him—but you, an Asgardian with no divine office…"

As he spoke, storms of psychic energy swirled around him; his blue skin grew even more eerie under the magic's glow. He rose into the air, and several magical orbs scattered around him; as he opened his arms, the orbs linked into a vast net, magic surging forth as if to lock the storm in place.

But the hurricane paused only an instant—then grew even wilder.

Thor's former powers as God of Storms and Weather had fully returned to him, even amplified; High Priest unleashed more power, while Red King leapt into the sky and began striking Thor at the storm's center with his spear.

But in the process of releasing divine power, no one could stop this fury.

Normally, the divine power of a subordinate deity could never harm a being like High Priest—but he felt blades of will cutting through the storm, wounds that sliced directly into the soul; he could only erect a magical barrier to keep the storm outside.

Prince Yashan behind Red King saw his father and the mighty High Priest barely holding back the divine outburst; he turned his gaze to Loki lying on the ground and shouted to his father: "Your Majesty! Seize that Asgardian—seize his brother!"

Red King looked down at Loki; Loki lay unconscious at the storm's eye. With sheer physical strength, Red King braved the divine storm, leapt from the platform, and charged toward Loki in the eye of the tempest.

In the instant of divine outburst, everyone in the arena was struck—but Thor himself bore the greatest impact.

When the divine power sealed by Odin returned, the shock overwhelmed him; in that moment, Red King seized Loki.

When all divine power returned, a streak of light flashed across the distant sky—Mjolnir, the Hammer of Thunder, appeared above the arena. Just as the weapon prepared to return to its master and fight beside Thor's restored power, it did not respond to Thor's call.

Instead, after the initial shock of the divine outburst faded, the hurricane gradually calmed; the thunder still rumbled overhead, the clouds did not part—but the storm of divine power slowly dissipated.
