Chapter 2519: Rustling Down (14)
"Is this really the time to watch TV?" the gray mist said. "It's obvious this house is haunted; I even saw the ghost shadow just now."
"But that's not important. I just want to know the structure of the farm barn now," Shiler said, staring at the TV screen and tapping it hard. "If there really is a ghost in the TV, then he'd better have watched the show just now and repeat it to me, otherwise he's dead meat."
Shiler was clearly a bit irritable. Even an ordinary person couldn't stand being interrupted when watching the most exciting part of a TV show. Shiler had obsessive-compulsive disorder to begin with, and the act of watching TV reminded him of his teenage years when his life was most regular.
At that time, no one would interrupt him watching TV. Even if there was an inspection afterward, he could finish watching an episode before going. Doctors and nurses could wait for him to watch TV. What kind of onion was this ghost?
A wisp of mist drifted into the TV. After Shiler fiddled with it for a long time, he found that the TV wasn't broken; it seemed to be a poor electrical contact. But after checking the wires in the wall, he didn't find any problems either. It was just that the current was fluctuating, causing the TV to be unable to work properly.
Checking the current problem was a bit troublesome. Shiler didn't possess electrician knowledge. Even with the gray mist helping him cheat, it was very difficult to find the source of the problem.
Just as Schiller was thinking about whether he should provide power to the television himself to finish watching the program, the chandelier behind him suddenly began to sway. Schiller turned his head and saw a shadow streak past the window again.
He looked up at the chandelier and found that it wouldn't fall down for a while, so he walked under the chandelier. However, this time he didn't sit on the sofa again, but came to the chaise longue on the side of the sofa.
He leaned over to observe carefully, then returned to the car to get a flashlight. Once the aperture opened, Shiler reached out and pulled a fragment stuck to his index finger from the connection between the chaise longue and the main body of the sofa.
It was a potato chip fragment. Schiller wiped his hands, walked around to the back of the sofa, and crouched on the ground to shine his flashlight under the sofa. With a 'whoosh', the ghost shadow streaked past the opposite side of the sofa once more.
Shiler wasn't panicked at all. He reached out and touched under the sofa. He felt his hand being touched by something, but he had no intention of withdrawing his hand at all. He continued to reach forward and touched a hair.
After pulling the hair out, it was a straight, long red hair. The root didn't have a hair follicle, indicating it had fallen out naturally. Judging from the shape and texture of the hair, it should have come from a woman.
Shiler understood that ghosts could watch TV, but was it a bit abstract that ghosts could eat potato chips?
This showed that the series of paranormal events in this room weren't purely ghosts. However, Shiler, who had activated his Spirit World Vision, did indeed feel energy fluctuations when the ghost shadow flashed by, but this only showed that there was at least one person and one ghost in this house.
Shiler walked toward the dining room again. This time it was even more excessive; all the tableware and bowls and dishes on the table floated up, and even flew toward Shiler. Shiler didn't dodge, but reached out and grabbed a floating cup.
In the Spirit World Vision, some kind of energy thread was pulling these things to float in the air, but this energy was unstable, and based on Shiler's experience, energy presenting this state and color was usually very evil.
After Shiler grabbed the cup, he could clearly feel a force wrestling with him, constantly pulling the cup in one direction, and the force was very strong. If it weren't for the gray mist helping, Shiler definitely wouldn't have been able to grab this cup.
Now Shiler understood why those who came to see the house before fled in panic. They indeed weren't afraid of ghosts, but it would be different if this ghost had the ability to kill people. It didn't matter if it just made some sounds, but if the power was already strong enough to lift something at any time to smash someone to death, then this house couldn't be lived in even if bought.
And so far, Shiler hadn't found any entity, which meant that even if he used a gun to smash the things controlled by energy, the other party could control other things. The things making trouble in the villa weren't afraid of physical attacks, which was even more tricky for ordinary people.
However, since this house was so valuable, and the real estate agent said it was 30% off, and his tone when selling it was as painful as if he were bleeding, wouldn't it be difficult to spend a little money to invite someone to perform a ritual?
Because of the establishment of the Cat Getan School of Magic, there were many mages active in this city now, and some even publicly accepted orders. Even if you couldn't invite big names like Madame Xanadu or the Lady of the Lake, wouldn't it be difficult to invite an ordinary mage to come and take a look?
Shiler continued to walk inside. He came to the back door of the house. The front yard of this house wasn't big, but the backyard wasn't small, and the backyard was right next to the lawn and artificial lake he had seen before, which was equivalent to this entire lawn being the backyard.
Here, Shiler found more traces. On the lawn in the yard, there seemed to be residual materials from drawing a magic circle. Shiler walked over to look, and the ashes of burnt crow feathers were left in the grass, and there was half a complete feather next to it.
Shiler picked up the half feather. With a whoosh, a strong wind hit. Shiler turned his head abruptly and saw a red-haired woman wearing a black cloak and a hood floating behind him.
"Don't touch it."
"You finally appeared, Madam. How have you been lately?"
"Are you here to find me? Who sent you? Constantine?"
"Thank you for telling me so much information in just one sentence," Shiler said sincerely. "It seems you have no way to deal with Constantine, and he hasn't done anything to you either."
"You put that thing down first." The other party's voice was so cold that it had no emotion at all. She said, "The clumsy magic circle laid by that mage..."
"Let me guess, someone hired a mage to set up a sealing circle here, but that affected you, and you lost control a bit. Constantine noticed the abnormality and rushed over. He said he could solve your problem, but he doesn't have the ability right now, and will call a friend over later..."
Ding-dong!
The doorbell rang. Shiler saw a figure near the window in the front hall through the back door, and then the other party also pushed open the unlocked door and walked into the living room.
Borrowing the somewhat dim light, Shiler saw it was Zatanna. That was right, who else could Constantine call?
"Raven? Are you there?" Zatanna shouted.
The girl called Raven landed on the ground and looked back at Zatanna. But by the time she turned her head back again, Shiler had already disappeared.
But she couldn't care about much else and only said to the person who came, "When do you intend to fulfill the agreement? My ability has begun to affect the surrounding things, and I cannot control it."
"Don't be anxious yet," Zatanna comforted. "Some of the blinders Constantine laid down before have already scared away the ordinary humans and neighbors who dared to approach. Even if your ability is small, a large-scale outbreak won't hurt anyone."
"I'm referring to what I said about the demon descending. By then, the entire city, the entire country, and even the entire world..."
"I know, I know, I already told you not to be anxious. After Constantine returned to the school, he summoned the deans of various colleges to hold a meeting, but we have an important professor who hasn't returned..."
"I can't wait any longer," Raven said.
A click came from the living room. Both of them turned their heads at the same time, only to see Shiler turn on the TV again. Unfortunately, the show had already played to the second half, and the dilapidated house had already been repaired.
Shiler sighed and shook his head, threw the remote control on the sofa, and after thinking about it, walked over to pick up the remote control and put it back on the desktop.
"Professor Shiler???" Zatanna seemed very surprised, but she quickly adjusted her mindset because she knew it wasn't strange for Shiler to appear in any incident, and it was even very likely that this incident was caused by him, or simply directed by him.
"I think you should say what this is all about," Zatanna said, frantically hinting to Raven. She said, "This is one of the most respected professors in our academy. The one I said was absent before was him. Because we were waiting for his opinion, we have been unable to give you..."
"Trigon will descend!" Raven swooshed into the room, landed steadily on the ground, and said, "My mother, Angela Roth, was bewitched by an evil spirit and gave birth to me. I am naturally connected to him. I can sense his approach, and someone needs to confront him."
Zatanna spread her hands and said, "This young lady found us about a month ago. To be precise, she made a commotion and was discovered by Constantine."
"Her power is very unstable, and there is huge evil power hidden in her body. It's hard for us to determine whether she is really worried about the demon descending, or if she is actually a pawn of the demon."
"I'm not," Raven denied. "I have no choice. I cannot control my innate power, and it will eventually lose control one day."
Accompanied by her anxious tone, all the furniture in the room began to shake. Zatanna took two steps back in surprise, but Shiler tapped the ground with his umbrella.
With a bang, the trembling subsided.
Raven was also very surprised. She looked up at Shiler. Shiler sighed lightly and said, "I still want to buy this house, Madam. You cannot destroy things here."
Raven returned to her coldness and said, "I'm sorry, but I must have a place to stay, otherwise I will break more things."
"The rumors of a haunting come from you?"
"Actually, no," Zatanna said. "It was after Constantine discovered she was uncontrollable that he used some props nearby to set up some blinders to create the illusion of a haunting, in order to scare away the ordinary people who approached. Otherwise, if this big bomb explodes, it will definitely kill many people."
"Does it have to be here?"
"Please, Professor, this is already the residential area with the lowest density in Cat Getan. Don't tell me you want to move her to the East District? If she explodes there, the people of Cat Getan will be wiped out."
Shiler made a gesture of re-examining. Raven stood straight there, her hands folded over her lower abdomen.
Her posture was very graceful, looking like a statue in a temple, and her temperament revealed an indescribable coldness and restraint, but her inner emotions were clearly not so calm.
"You have undergone training," Shiler said. "Eliminate your emotions, restrain your inner fluctuations, and it's best to be ignorant and unaware, living like a walking corpse."
Raven's lips moved and she said, "My emotions will stimulate my power. The High Priestess told me it's best to do this."
"But she didn't tell you that the more emotions are suppressed, the more violent they will be when they erupt," Shiler shook his head and said. "This is the consequence of only learning magic and not psychology." ===== CHAPTER 2520 =====
